Very good. Thank you. Soo many people are divorcing and sometimes it feels incredibly oppressive to my marriage. We struggle making true friendships with other couples for fear that they may divorce or move away. God has a plan and I know this is the cross we must bare.

Your marriage must not be pleasing to YOU in the first place, but to God. Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. Now undefiled means: 1. not damaged or sullied 2. not made morally impure 3. not polluted or made dirty ...etc.

Baptism of desire is heresy. "Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." John 3:5
@nwankwoclemmy2651

God's love is so unfathomable, you just can't condition it, His mercies are new every morning. You can desire something, but when it's not readily available, God who sees and understands the intent knows how well to judge that someone who desires him but couldn't receive the physical baptism. Our God is a king of justice and immense mercy too. Edit: therefore baptism of desire cannot be tagged heresy.
@TheRomanCatholicChurch

@@nwankwoclemmy2651 God will ensure that the good-willed souls get baptism, supernaturally if need be. That is the power of His love. All it takes is some natural water, another person, and the words of Matthew 28:19. To obstinately deny the absolute necessity of water baptism is heresy, which is an attack on Love Himself (1 John 4:8). Pope Paul III, The Council of Trent, canons on the Sacrament of Baptism, canon 5, ex cathedra: “If anyone says that baptism [the sacrament] is optional, that is, not necessary for salvation (cf. Jn. 3:5): let him be anathema.” Pope Paul III, The Council of Trent, canons on the Sacrament of Baptism, Session 7, canon 2, ex cathedra: “If anyone shall say that real and natural water is not necessary for baptism, and on that account those words of Our Lord Jesus Christ: ‘Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit’ [John 3:5], are distorted into some sort of metaphor: let him be anathema.” Pope Paul III, The Council of Trent, On Original Sin, Session V, ex cathedra: “By one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death... so that in them there may be washed away by regeneration, what they have contracted by generation, ‘For unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God [John 3:5].”

The Authoritative Church says otherwise. Christ will save whom He will. WE are bound by the Sacraments. HE is not. Romans talks about those who never heard the word. You aren’t afforded the right to be a Sedevecantist; that’s the other rite of Protestantism. You don’t get the luxury of deciding what teachings of the church you want to believe or not. You can’t reject all of Vatican 2 just because you don’t like the Novus Ordo. Do you not have faith & trust in Jesus Christ & the Holy Ghost that they would allow the church to be wrong & deceive people? She can’t err on faith & morals. Sedevecantism is Sin. Before you say I am a modernist (a term my fellow Trads abuse out of context) I attend the FSSP & follow this channel. If I, as a 15 yr inter denominational Protestant, could begin my conversion after one Latin Mass in spite of the state of the Catholic Church, you can trust she can’t err on something so crucial. You’re saying that people can’t be saved on their deathbed because not everyone will have access to Baptism. Baptism is the ordinary means. Jesus is merciful to whom He is. I trust in His Mercy. The FSSP know more than Internet lay Catholic conspiracy theorists & Sedes & they teach this.

Or you could just you know... NOT get married, though this involves careful discernment and evaluation. I'm not advocating for fornicating or cohabitating mind you, but given how screwed up the culture is, this conversation is something that probably should've happened when the Boomers were getting married and going through their struggles because I hate to be the Scourge of Reality Checks, but most marriages now end in divorce, and the overwhelming number of people (including myself) aren't good marital prospects or the opportunity is severely lacking. And then there's the issues of the family court system, finding people who aren't woke or otherwise diametrically opposed to the Catholic faith. And that's not even getting into issues of compatibility of personality types and shared goals and aspirations; after all, you can only be a human tumbleweed for so long before realizing that you need to have things in common other than sex. Until things are sorted out, my recommendation to all, especially men who have not yet gotten attached, remain as you are and do not get married until the culture has collapsed and reset. It won't be easy because of the biological imperative being what it is, but you need to guard yourselves against chameleons. Find other reasons for living and focus on building up that intrinsic motivation to dream, aspire, and conquer. Peace be to you.

Peace be to you. I totally understand where you are coming from. Don’t loose hope! I cohabitated with my now husband before finding the truth of Our Lords holy church, God revealed Himself to us when almost all seemed lost. We were part of the leftist secular cult and was able to escape and now are growing stronger through Christ and the sacraments in the church. Marriage is not for everyone, but I also want to validate Gods timing in all things.

The absence of religious values, in particular, Church teaching, not only in the culture at large but within marriages is a huge problem. Your advice is generally good. Best to avoid, unless a couple really believes they are in possession of that knowledge and values. Many marriages are forged in absence of this, and it is difficult to insert it later on, as the choice to do so on the part of one, may not be held by the other.

Marriages end in divorce because God is not the center. Marriage is not discerned properly and often either is the potential spouse. Discernment requires prayer and not rushing things. Some people get married thinking a bad person will get better. This could happen, but isn't likely without the desire to improve. Being abstinent before marriage is also crucial in being able to decide with a clearer mind and without forming a disordered attachment that fogs up judgment, whether or not someone would make a good spouse. Many people don't make a good spouse because they live sinful lives. I don't think people date with marriage in mind often and definitely don't date the way they should. There was a study that said 18% of couples are actually getting married these days. People also need to know what marriage is for and what their role is supposed to be. Marriage is excellent and willed by God that man not be alone and that we be fruitful and multiply. Not everyone is meant to join the religuous life either. I'm sure more people are meant to go than actually are, but marriage is awesome. You just have to know what to expect and live out your faith according to your vocation. People should get right with God first before trying to even date. However, one of the jobs of spouses is to help the other get to heaven. Not many people care about this but it's crucial for marriage and for raising children.
