I like the past few 'back to the basics' videos. Over the years it's been so fun watching and learning as your set ups have been more sophisticated! However, I know I'm never going to get there. I'll probably always stay at this level, and it's nice to have the simpler, less costly video every now and then, too! You're always fun MD!

Been watching your videos for a while and they’re so good. You got me into planted-tank fish keeping, and I’m never going back! Talking about underrated fish, the female feeder guppies are gorgeous. I breed mine and I love the way they are basically translucent all the way to their tails, where they develop a rainbow of colours. Their shape is beautiful too. I don't know, I just love them. I love aqua essentials too for my tanks. When I'm not doing tap water changes, I'll collect rainwater in a couple buckets & use that to top off my tanks so they don't get so much mineral build up over time compared to tap water + chemicals.

I also have a Superfish Scaper 90 set up here with loads of plants, lush carpet (mostly monte carlo and a few other species dotted throug), a dolmen, some 'trees' and a few otocinclus, 10 pygmy cores, 10 ruby tetras and a few amano shrimp. I also put in some of the skittle neo caridina's, you know the ones that aren't quite blue or not quite red. Perfect for a fair number of very small fish!

When using this filter (I've got 4 of the same) screw the pump at the top of the filter. Using it the way it comes, makes it impossible to bleed all the air, hence why the flow isn't good. Other than that, they are amazing for what they are!

I love learning from your videos! I have a curious question. If you use Nutri base for beneficial bacteria but you lock it down with sand. Does the bacteria get in the water column?
@dennisvanopstal73605 ай бұрын
Bacteria dont live in the watercolumn. They live on surfaces. The glas, wood, rocks, sand, deep in the sand bed. Filtertubes, sponges everywhere except for the water. And they spread from the nutribase to the rest of the tank slowly.
