I’d like to thank The Eagles for being so cool to us. I just checked out the YT channels of our rivals and none of em are uploading stuff like this. I’m working my way all the way through. There’s some missing years but this is great stuff! 👍🏼🤟🏼

Grew up in Wisconsin. First season I ever followed from beginning to end was 1968. I remember watching that Packer-Eagle game thinking "Gee, I guess they'll still be pretty good even though Lombardi isn't coaching anymore". Guess again, kid.😅

The Thanksgiving Day game is my first memory of pro football (7 years old). With all that mud it was difficult to tell the two teams apart on my grandma's old black & white TV. Great memories!

I was there… 12 zip… at one point you can’t tell who is who.. but at one point the Eagles punter comes out completely clean.. he kicks the ball down the field and is standing there and one of the lions players pushed him in the mud.. he was pissed.. remember people in tiger stadium just started laughing.. it was my first professional football game in my initiation into being a lifelong suffering Detroit lion fan..

I remember a lot of these games during 1968. I remember the Eagles were losing all of their games, and there was talk they would get the number 1 draft pick. In September 1968 the most talked about college player was a guy who played for Purdue who decimated Notre Dame for the second year in a row, that year. Eventually by October people were talking about a player out West with initials in his name. When the season ended, the Eagles got the second draft pick, and the guy with initials in his name, OJ went to Buffalo, while the Eagles picked Leroy Keyes of Purdue.
@bemore1134
@bemore1134 2 жыл бұрын
Actually Philly had the 3rd pick. Keyes was sandwiched between a couple of difference makers as lineman. George Kunz at #2 to Atlanta, While Pittsburgh took Joe Greene at #4.

Bob Brown was so awesome it was scary, lol. I could spend an hour watching clips of Bob destroying opponents, like Godzilla gone crazy. If he'd hit me with that forearm, I'd be dead, lol! It was a sight to see. No doubt, injuries hurt them that year. I remember the Thanksgiving game, especially the muffed placekick and Sam Baker's run. Middle linebacker, Dave Lloyd, in old films, was like Larry Stallings, of the Cards, or Dave Wilcox, of the 49ers; always around the ball and usually in on the play. I think he played in The Pro Bowl in 1969. Liked that shade of green the Eagles had then.

@@master-pdot Thanks. I went over there and watched it, gave it a, "Like". If a pass rusher made an outside move, Brown would just ride him completely out of the play. He could run like hell for a 305-pound man. He looked like a mountain when he got into his 3-point stance.

In over 50 years of watching football, I ve only seen this play once. It happened in Superbowl IX when Tarkentons pass was batted back to him and he threw a strike to John Gilliam. Since it happened behind the line of scrimmage I figured it would stand, but it was ruled a pass for Tarkenton to Tarkenton and called back. Does anyone know the end result of this play ? 22:56

The Eagles were ranked in the top 10 worst teams of all time. It was shown on NFL Network. One guy said, "Had the 1968 Philadelphia Eagles applied for federal funds?" "They would have gotten them." "That team was a disaster!" They won their last two games of the 1968 season. One of them was against the Saints. This prevented the Eagles from drafting O.J. Simpson in 1969. Can't win for losing.🏈💯
