In this video I break down every offensive lineman in the Hall of Fame and rank them according to their FGV to determine the Top 10 Offensive Linemen of All-Time!
How I ranked the linemen:
Review each offensive lineman from the 1970 season up to and including the 2015 season and apply the following calculations:
- Total number of All-Pro selections * 5
- Total number of Pro Bowl appearances * 3
- Total games played * 1
Then, rank the linemen based on the total FGV.

Awesome video! I am surprised not one Hog from the Washington Redskins Glory Days or Art Shell or Gene Upshaw did not make the Top 10. Glad to see that Mick Tineghoff made the list. I truly thought Mike Webster would have been #1 since I completely forgot how long Bruce Matthew's career lasted.

Thanks Ted! I was pulling for Webster, but it wasn’t to be. Upshaw came in #11 and Shell came in #17. Russ Grimm came in #36, I’d have to check on whether the rest of the Hogs are in the HOF. Thanks for watching!

@@thefootballguyusa7941 Okay, I will cop to being wrong on the number of years. As to your list; your list, your rules. It seems that the criteria is biased to longevity over greatness. How is it that in the modern era the list has no left tackles, the single most important position on the offensive line?
@thefootballguyusa7941
@thefootballguyusa7941 Күн бұрын
@@robertpeterson9438 I do think that high performance over a period of time = greatness. As for the lack of tackles, there are only 18 tackles from the “modern” era (1970-present) in the HOF. Only 6 of the 18 retired after 2000, Roaf, Ogden, Thomas, Jones, Pace and Boselli. All of them with fewer than 200 games played. Maybe the longer seasons lend to more injuries and shorter careers?

Okay, where to begin. I think after 1980 I wouldn't put any centers on the list. Once the passing game came into promenace Tackles become tops in importance. So I'd keep Webster and Otto and dump Mawae and the guy from Minnesota. Munoz and John Hannah and Joe Thomas are tough omissions. Bruce Mathews does not get the accolades he deserves and I think he's certainly top 5 along with Larry Allen. Great list and good topics of debate over a beer!!!

I appreciate the time you put into this, but your scoring system is flawed. Pro Bowls are a joke, especially for O-Lineman who usually make it by reputation and their team’s success. Make your top ten list again just going by the eye test. You know as well as I do John Hannah and Anthony Munoz belong on the list. I don’t have a problem with Bruce Mathew’s being number one though.
