@ValentineLissar5 жыл бұрын
Angela Weidert I agree. I hit pan and completely used up my flesh toned eye shadow first on my Anastasia modern renaissance palette. Then I planned a Anastasia single and I got a new one from colourpop as a dupe and I just hit pan. This is over the course of three years. But to be fair I use my flesh toned color to help set my eyeshadow before I begin to use color to minimize patchiness.
@htureigna5 жыл бұрын
@@hello.jila656 it still takes me a month or so of daily use to hit pan. I use a larger fluffy eye brush and set my entire lid. If it's a close enough match to my skin color I will also set my under eye are with eyeshadow because I have found that they are silkier than traditional setting powder. I'm pretty fair skinned so the peaches n cream shade from the Two-Faced Sweet Peach palette was gone in no time.

I haven't watched all of this yet but I have actually found highlighters to be pretty easy to hit pan on, blushes are a BEAST. Eyeshadows can be easy depending on the brand, and bronzers are pretty easy to finish. Pressed powder used to go way faster for me when I set my whole face, but now I only set my undereyes and progress is slow!

I will often do one color all over. So cheeks and eyes. But I’m cooler toned and a clearly purple tinged blush flatters best, so my blushes look like eyeshadows! Even then, hitting pan is so darn hard. This is why I’m grateful to brands that make minis. I’m slowly switching over to Hourglass as my primary brand and the fact that they make travel size versions of half their line is perfect.

I've been curious if panning shimmer shades by using a finger is easier than using a brush? I dont have pan in anything but I do have nice sized dips. I know I've heard the bigger the dip the more pan you'll see at once.
@saras.96265 жыл бұрын
RKay17 In my experience, using a brush means you hit the pan quicker because you can focus it in one area. Versus a finger usually takes up more space, so yes, the pan is larger when you hit it, but it takes forever to get to that point. But maybe I just have big fingers 😂
@BubblyViolin115 жыл бұрын
You also get more kickback from using a brush. I've found that I tend to use less shadow when applying with my fingers, but get pans much faster when using a brush.

Someone mentioned buying backups in the comments and I wanted to give my little two sense. Only buy backups for products that you know you love and use decently enough to where you are using about two in a year and can justify buying two then first one then and one now. Don’t buy backups for products that take forever to use up! Like loose powder or palettes! Things change over time and so do your preferences, so only have backups for things you like in the short term and will use in the short term.
@scarlettethefieryphoenix9255 жыл бұрын
The only thing I have a backup of is my NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu. If they discontinue that, I will weep. And honestly, I have issues with concentration & short-term memory, & due to chronic pain, I'm sometimes very distracted & have no idea where I put things, so I lose items, replace them, then find the open one. Usually before I open the new one. This has led to an accidental backup of a lipstick & a balm stain that's discontinued, so that was a happy accident. Lol I also have very dry skin & lips, so I buy lip balms in pairs & always have one on my nightstand & one in my purse. I agree with you, though. I don't buy backups on purpose! 😂

I'm not a fan of applying lip products with a doe-foot applicator, so I'm reaching for a bullet lipstick much more frequently than lipgloss and I'm also reapplying it more often for that reason. Also using up lipsticks as cream blushes is pretty easy. I agree with bronzers, they're pretty easy to hit pan on, since they're used in such a big area. In summer I even occasionally use bronzer to cover up tan lines. I think products that I find easy to hit pan on, which are probably harder for others, are dark shimmer eyeshadows. I hit pan on Coloured Raine Blue Magic, Lethal Cosmetics Spirit, Aether and Rise From The Ashes. I usually just throw a dark shimmer in the crease and outer v, or I use them as liners. I haven't hit pan on any matte shade yet.

I find it easy to hit pan on shimmer eyeshadows because I literally pile them on to get the sparkle and concealers go pretty quickly for me too because I tend to use the same concealer everytime I do my makeup. I find bronzer one of the hardest products to pan because I find it so hard to wear for me. I'm pale and if my skintone changes it always goes red so brown is a difficult color to hide on my face. And yes, I do have bronzer, even though I don't wear it. Eye pencils go quickly for me though. I also don’t feel comfortable wearing it because I work in a hospital and I feel weird about wearing something sticky and walking around people who are ill. (It’s a weird superstition) by boy its hard to get through my one lipgloss.

I agree in general that blush is difficult to pan. But I ended up completely using up 2 blushes this year. One was Tarte Party (mini size), the other was a Physicians Formula blush. I think it depends on the formula. Tarte is very hard pressed and that blush took me much longer in daily use, but the Physicians Formula was so soft it only took me 2 months. For me, I have oily skin so face products are easier for me to pan because they fade on my skin. Eyeshadow, specifically not neutral colors take a long time to hit pan. Again, it depends on the formula. I had the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette that since it was neutrals I thought I could pan it easier, but it took me a 1 1/2 yrs to pan just 5 shadows.

I use the tarte blush in sensual as a bronzer and blush and it’s ALMOST GONE!! The pan is so big but I’m pretty sure I’ve had it since literally 2017

It takes me ages to go through foundation! I was able to hit pan on my flowerchild blush this year as part of my 19 in 2019. Also lipsticks and eyeshadows are really tough but I agree lipgloss is easier. Maybe because I reapply often 😊

I've only hit pan on 1 blush, a makeup Revolution blush I had and before I had a makeup obsession I would hit pan on the only eyeshadow palette I had. I know this isn't hitting pan but I've noticed I will use up drugstore brow pencils really fast but my IT or Benefit pencils last me forever. Also, I will go through Loreal lipsticks really fast but I had a Smashbox lipstick which lasted me so long even when it was my only lipstick.

I've never done a project pan or ever used anything up completely lol but I really want to the only problem is I don't wear makeup all the time like most people I only wear makeup like once a week sometimes less but I really want to try and start wearing it more and thinking maybe project pan or shop my stash or something like that would help but I don't know what is your opinion on it?

I toss my mascaras every 3 months, and only have 1-2 open. For that reason, they’re easy to use up. I’ve only ever completely used up a bronzer, and blush. I generally toss my lip glosses every 6 months too, but only because I’m kind of a germaphobe LOL One thing I don’t ever think I could hit pan on is a highlighter. I’m almost 30, so I tend to be super light handed with them.

I definitely struggle with finishing all over face powders. I have a medium sized pan in my powder but it takes forever to finish it

I hit pan on bronzers a lot, I used up two this year 🤣 Currently working on my project pan and my butter bronzer has a big dent in it, need to repress it soon 😎

I only use loose powder, and at that only under my eyes and over areas I have coverage, which is seldom my entire face because I only wear foundation for special occasions. I've been using the same exact loose powder that I purchased two years ago. Oof.

Easiest for me: setting spray, pressed powder, eye primer and weirdly bronzer. Hardest: blush, lipstick, highlighters, and eyeshadow palettes. Mascara and lash primer I don't count since I toss it after 4 months...and they are usually nearly gone.

The most challenging product to finish up for me is Smashbox photo finish primer. I need the smallest dollop of it and I lost hope to go through it.

I think the only real trick in project panning is to be focused. I also think that you could finish the Milk lipstick by using it 4/5 times in a week. But how can you finish it if you take so many lips product in your shop my stash?
