@@roszcutler9724 yes 80 stitches to cast on for the toddler hat. Here is the link to the pattern on Raverly. The larger hat is in paranthesis. www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/easiest-baby-hat-ever-2

Hi, Thanks for sharing the exremely easy knitted hat! If i have to measure the size ( head circumference ) and knit, how many stitches should I cast on. My toddler is lean and im not sure if his head size would be the same as those his age. He is 3.5 years old. TIA
@jacqknits9 күн бұрын
This is a very forgiving hat for sizing since it is such a stretchy ribbed fabric. This hat fits a 1 year old pretty well so it may be a good fit for your smaller 3.5 year old. I would try the recommended cast on amount. If it’s a bit small it stretches nicely to fit a larger head.

I have a few videos on adult size beanie hats. See links below. Also this baby hat will also work nicely for a toddlers hat. Just cast on more stitches. Maybe 8-10 more and knit for a few more rounds before ending. A quick and easy knitted hat. Im using the exact same needles (size and length) and yarn size as you, but my cast on doesnt reach around the whole needle set. So i cant continue stitching, simce itll create a REALLY long straight tail between the end and the beginning. Not sure what im doing wrong? I counted 66 4 times
@jacqknits18 күн бұрын
Your first couple rounds are also a big stretch around the needles. The stitches are far apart but once you get a couple rounds complete and have more volume it becomes easier to knit and the stitches fill in. Try a couple rounds even if the stitches seem far apart. If that doesn’t work you can always try using double pointed needles to knit in the round and switch to your circular needles after a couple rounds.

This looks about my speed. :) I just started but wondering why I have a gap where the first knitting in the first row began. I notice you don’t have that. Will I be able to fix it later?
@jacqknits28 күн бұрын
Yes if you have a gap in the first row where you cast on at the end you can take your tail from the cast on and stitch to close that up.

I have a video going live in the future that shows exactly how I hold my needles. It is continental knitting. I think generally it is a faster way to knit once you get the hang of it.

Can you make this just by using garter stitch and not use the purl stitch? I’m left handed and really struggling with the purl stitch.

Yes definitely. Just do the entire thing in garter stitch. It will look a bit different, but work for a hat just as well.

What about with out circular needle
@jacqknits20 күн бұрын
You can certainly knit these with flat needles. Just cast on stitches, knit the k1, P1 sequence for each row for as long as needed and cast off. Then just take your sides and seam together from the bottom up. Then to close the top take your yarn from the seaming of the sides and weave back and forth through the cast off edge and pull to cinch up the top and secure the end. Hope that helps.

What was the thickness size you used for the worsted weight acrylic yarn?
@jacqknits6 ай бұрын
It is a worsted weight #4 on the yarn weight scale for this hat. For this particular hat I used the Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee SoftStitch yarn. It's a super soft acrylic yarn perfect for babies (but it is currently unavailable on Amazon). Not sure if you can still get it at Hobby Lobby. But any soft worsted #4 weight yarn will work nicely.

How many stitches for 8 years boy

While I love merino wool I try to steer away from wool for babies or kids since you have to hand wash it. But then again hats don’t need frequent washing so you may be ok.
