Thank you for this! Your best advice for me has been 1) understand the theory of perspective as theory, because that’s all you need it for unless you are building something from scratch 2) use your pen to get the angles right based on this basic theory 3) draw one shape at a time and build on each shape with the next. I can’t tell you how many little Maine dilapidated cabins I’ve tried to draw in perspective and just said screw it to the overhanging roof edge. The overhanging roof edge and window trim and inset window edge have cost me two years of stress, because once I drew the box in for the main structure I couldn’t figure out how to then get the roof to over hang! My drawings look so much better thanks to your teachings💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Great! The "cross" method is really useful but do you have a similar method for organic shapes, humans, animals?

It’s less straight forward. But I try and get a feel for the actual 3D shape first, and then approximate the perspective distortion I anticipate. If the subject has a reference, I just use careful observation. 😀

My big problem with perspective is distortion. Vanishing points distort the image too much, even in a small room. The only time I drew a good drawing with good proportions I placed the vanishing point 1 meter away from paper. It doesn't enter my head how to use a drawing with a vanishing point on paper and have a delicate perspective.

Do you like doing thumbnail drawing? When I’m boring I usually do them in class for less than 30 sec each and then erase it (Landscape and cityscape most of the time)

I had to edit this on my phone without a mic while I was walking outside. I used a wrong word in those places and had to voiceover the voiceover. So it sounds quite different. Annoying, but better than leaving in the wrong word I think. Nothing worse than editing I think. I don’t know how people do it for a job. 😀
