Excellent.... 🙂 This is the easiest and most clever method that I've watched to date on removing the valve - With the added bonus of being able to use readily available tools that most everyone has in their garage. Thanks for this !! 😎

That's a good trick! I like Rob (Xynudu's) nickname for a propane cylinder used for this... He calls it "a bucket of air" as it can be use portably when a compressor may not be possible and you only need a bit of air. Thanks for sharing!

Patience pays off for sure . Thanks for the demonstration!! I am planning to do the same thing to increase my air capacity. Again thank you very much and looking forward to your next video

Steve, If you are going to reuse lpg or butane cylinders in this way you should ‘inert’ the cylinder by filling with water and leaving to stand for a while then emptying and drying. This is the safe process as used in the gas industry. Ideally a prod tool should have been used to vent the residual gas before the valve is removed.

As you say: 'Wash' out the gas, then you can turn the cylinder into a wood burner. With the standard base it has a steady foot print and, with a side exit chimney, the top can have a plate welded to it to give you an hot plate for heating water, food, etc.

Cheers Steve, this method just worked for me perfectly :) @alex - good advice re the "prod tool". I just found sticking an allen key in the remnants of the valve to depress the little release mechanism worked a charm and there was indeed some residual gas in there. With the valve off it's now full of water and will let it stand for a couple of days before doing any cutting. @amanofmanyparts - this is exactly what I'm planning to do with it, except hopefully also with some pipework around the outside so it can heat water like a basic back-boiler. that's the plan anyway, let's see what reality thinks of it ;)

Steve, at 00:37 you say it unscrews "clockwise" (left hand thread) but then unscrew it anti-clockwise (normal thread)! :) Other than that good video, I'm just about to tackle this on 3 Calor cylinders.

I probably would of taken the container to a LP store or Gas company and had them remove or reclaim the gasses safely.
