Always use 2 hooks, that will keep the mirror/painting/photo level even if it gets bumped. For a mirror that size, put them about 9-12” apart, I usually just space it the width of my level (~9” bullet level, 2’ level, 4’level).

Do they work on plaster and lathe walls? I can't ever seem to find a good hanging solution for them!

I think you’d have a hard time getting them into the wall on hard plaster
