What does adding the dish soap to the outside of the grip do? I'm trying to better understand how it helps remove the grip the old fashioned way, as I'm about to try this method myself!
@darrenarbergolf8 ай бұрын
It helps it slide over the grip without the washing up liquid it will just stick. It also helps it slide bs k over. When you try just take care in turning it back over, the grip cap can give way and the shaft with the tee in pokes through the hole.
@wescarper4311 ай бұрын
Air compressor takes em right off....way faster and easier. Just put the end of the gun over the hole at the end of the grip tape pops loose and slide it right off with the air still going. I have removed tons of grips this way and re-installed them again.

I don’t think I have the stamina do that condom technique. I prefer the grip removal tool, but it gets messy and can leave bits of tape in the grip. The air compressor is good, but if the grips are old, it can bubble if the adhesion is too strong.

It is hard work, but it was the only method I was taught when I first starting working in the pro-shop. It does help improve hand, wrist and arm strength. I didn't even think to look inside them because they are clearly brand new and he said he had them done at the golf store so I assumed they were done right.
@darrenarbergolf Жыл бұрын
They can still be used, you just have to make sure that the tape is smooth without any bumps. If the tape isn’t smooth it can prove to be an issue as these might show through the grip. Also if you have tape on the grips will play slightly bigger than standard.
@SpencyP92 Жыл бұрын
@Darren Arber Golf if they are all fairly smooth do you think it's worth trying to remove them?

If there are no bumps they should go on ok, but you cannot be sure what’s further up the grip. Just be aware they might be slightly bigger than standard due to the one layer of tape.

@marceldubois5073 Жыл бұрын
I remove grips by using a syringe loaded with varsol inserted on an angle near the butt of the club until the needLe gets to the shaft…….you then inject the Varsol between the shaft and the grip while working the grip around until you get to the small end of the grip…….at that point you just slip it off! Easy Peasy!
@darrenarbergolf Жыл бұрын
Yes that is another way to do it. As long as you have a way that gets it off in one piece it’s fine. As I’ve found over the years. They all have the potential to leave tape inside the grips, apart from the one I did at the end as you can pick it off. But it’s just too tough a job and the potential for disaster is quite high.

Sticking something between the shaft and grip in my experience has caused the grip to stretch out on the end and when installed on a different club ends up being loose there on the end.
