@cg282704 жыл бұрын
They are all great, but you did play the best one first. You can play them all on PS4 now, but Y6 and Kiwami 2 are the only ones that stand out as different due to the game engine. They are't really better, but they are more current gen games (Y0 was also a PS3 game in Japan). You said you played 0 last year, so you are probably ready to play Kiwami 1. I'm a huge fan of the series and have played all of the games that got released in the west in order of release. Depending on your completion level of the games they can become very repetitive, and I think you could burn yourself out if you try to play them back to back. Going off memory the amount of content in the games would go Y5 > Y0 > Y4 > Y3 > Y2 > Y6 > Y1. So maybe you won't get get too overwhelmed too soon. Also consider checking out Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise (Y0 engine), and Judgment (Y6 / Kiwami 2 engine). Both are from the same developer and have some of the same voice actors and such.
@MilesWilliams884 жыл бұрын
@@cg28270 I should of said "I haven't beat any of the other ones" first. I started Kiwami 1 a while back also, but didn't get very far before I got side tracked. I'd like to add something to the discussion about Journey and having huge expectations. I had the same experience as Ian the first time I played it. I finished it two times at the release, liked it, and didn't think that much about it. 8/10. One or two years later, when I moved abroad to study, I often felt alone, and games were my biggest comfort zone. Because of studies, I didn't have as much time as before, so one day I thought I wanted to start and finish a game in one sitting. Picked up Journey again specifically because of its length, calm pace and potential source of inspiration and introspection. I encountered another player pretty quickly, just like during my previous playthroughs, but this time it was different. This person stuck with me. They were showing me secret spots and patiently waited when I was falling behind, unlike every player I encountered before. We goofed around and kept beeping funny tunes (the only interaction in the game aside from movement). We even meditated together (got a trophy), something no one wanted to do with me before. I felt a connection. Near the end of the game, during the last stretch, I thought I lost them, but to my huge relief, we found each other. And I knew for sure it was the same person, because before the last gate, we both lingered. We didn't want to finish. We started writing and drawing pictures in the sand, something I never even thought about before, although it seems obvious in retrospect. We walked towards the end slowly and closely, together. I realized, while being alone in a foreign coutry, that for a brief moment I fell in love with a person I've never met. I didn't know their sex, name, age, nationality, NOTHING. Just that they were willing to spend time with me in a game and make it nicer. I felt pure empathy. After the game I received a message from this person, thanking me for the best journey they've ever had. I didn't add them to my friends, and it wasn't my console, so I lost the message. We will never interact again and I regret it until this day. Journey gave me the most beautiful experience I've ever had with games. It showed me that you can have a multiplayer game based on being nice to peaople instead of defeating them. It showed me I can love (not romantically, obviously) a complete stranger. It was constructed from ground up to give me that feeling and I will always love it for that.

I maintain that the cross examination process should be improved. It doesn't make sense to me that a single question can then lead to someone rambling on for the whole duration of the remaining time without even actually answering the question well in theory. So depending not on the question or answer, but on the style of the Ally answering, this can lead to very underwhelming argumentation about the game. I suggest either have a maximum amount of questions or perhaps each Ally has 1 chance, but can still pass their turn if they have nothing juicy. You can still put a time limit to the answer itself ie 1 min per answer so that the whole process doesn't drag on forever. Anything different than a general time limit would be an improvement IMO.

Great as always! That said, I do feel like the cross-examination could do with being restructured slightly as five minutes both for questions and answers gets burned up quickly, especially if someone gives long answers or takes a while to get to the point of their question. What might be better is if each game gets five questions, and the ally gets one minute to respond to each one? I know it'd be a bit of a pain in the arse to have to do five one minute timers, but it would be more fair as there's no possibility of (un)intentionally filibustering, and means each game gets roughly the same level of cross-examination.

Really all they need to add imo are Mass Effect 2, Half Life 1, Baldurs Gate II, and whichever you like more out of Morrowwind/Skyrim/New Vegas, some Bethesda main studio style RPG. Personally I would want Tie-Fighter CD on the list as well as Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, but those are more niche. Possibly the original Contra, Gran Turismo 2. Only game I would definitely pull off is Paper Mario. Edit: Eh, I wouldn't add any of those to the list, and I really like Katamari and Yakuza Zero and Bayonetta. Huntdown is great too but I haven't beat it yet and it's too new to have perspective on it. I guess I would want Yakuza and Katamari added the most. Edit 2: Glad Yakuza made it in. When you play a video or someone is talking treat it like one of your live reactions. Have that person in the larger screen and then have everyone In smaller windows around it instead of the game titles.

What is the benefit of not letting somebody finish their last question or not letting somebody answer the last question? It seems like it only hurts the process. It's not like somebody's going to filibuster.

The QTE in Bayonetta 1 almost always blindsided me completely. I was absorbed in the action and so almost every time failed the first part which simply made the experience worse. Do QTE add *enjoyment*? To mee they just add room for frusfration. (I don't consider the "many hits" finishers you can do on enemies like spanking QTE, those I love, and the big difference is that YOU initiate these).
