The best thing about this trellis system is that you can solder your copper coils directly to the T-Postis for the best electroconductivity when it do best to help them pees when they start to get big early on.

English peas are my favorite thing I grow. They taste so much better fresh than store-bought --- I can't say that about every veg I grow. My first round is about your size. I started them indoors around mid-late Jan and transplanted them in mid-late Feb. A lot of people say you can't transplant them but I have never had a problem. You just have to be fast and start them in a big container. I start 2 peas in each styrofoam cup full of my starting mix and transplant in about 2-3 weeks after I start --- so very quickly getting them out. In my second round, I direct seed them when I transplant the first round out. They are up and starting to search now. Zone 7b (Northern AL). My personal favorite in terms of taste and shelling are the Lincolns, but I am growing only those PL this year as they do better with the heat --- but they are not as sweet and they are a pain to shell.

I always use field fence for my trellis, and plant a row of peas on both sides. It works well and when peas are done I usually follow up with a crop of cucumbers. I can roll it up and store it easily. The great advantage is that I don't have to spend allot of extra time adding strings as in the past. As the garden gets bigger I have to find ways to save time.

I enjoyed this! It’s still too early to plant up here but I’m planning to put in a row of Sugar Snap pease when I can. I think I’ll put in a spring row and then a fall row in the same spot. I’m planning to use T posts and Hortimova trellis.

I planted English peas this January in the new zone 9a in Central Texas. I got bad germination, about 30 percent I'd say. It got down below 20F one night while they were germinating (I covered the beds with plastic), then we had a hot week in February where it went up to 90F on one of the days. No blooms yet on the few plants that look healthy. I'm not holding my breath. I'll probably till them in and plant something else before it's too late. I've tried to grow snow peas and snap peas in Fall and Spring the last three years with little to no luck. I've tried inoculant and I couldn't tell the difference. I probably am done with them until I move to a cooler climate. It's tricky to grow cool season crops here.

I'm in Central Texans zone 8 and I planted Peas right after that freeze. I don't have flowers yet either but the plants look healthy. For fall planting try planting them at the end of August or 1st week of November. I had luck doing it that way. This is my first season planting for Spring so we shall see.

I had good luck planting snow peas last year in March (East Texas z9a) but germination was not as good as expected. This year I had a different problem: mice. Those little buggers came through and dug up and ate my peas before they could germinate! We had quite a lot of mice around last month and we trapped and rehomed as many as we caught (mainly because my daughter begged us not to kill them - *sigh). Now it seems one peas was missed by the mice and came up! I think I’ll try planting in a different spot and see if that buys me enough time to get them germinated or at least more than one! 😂 I’m going for snap peas this year instead of the Mammoth melting snow pea (which was lots of fun to grow but we don’t eat them that often to warrant growing again until the fall).

Thank you for your videos. I have learned a lot from them. This is not a question about peas, but about planting seeds. I bought a good seed starter ( the same as I bought last year ), but I tried the perlite on top. Why is some of my perlite turning green? Some of the seed came up, but some has not. Please help!

I use that twine too. I planted my peas a week ago but it still kind of cool, it's supposed to be lows around 30 the next two days here on the Plateau. I grow sugar snap type peas and don't usually do shell out type. I don't plant too many, most never make it in the house.😉 I have a huge rabbit problem in my big garden so I moved my peas up near the cabin so the dogs can patrol, Oh, I meant to ask, I bought one of those Mary Lane figs late last fall and have been keeping it in the house... when and what temp should be safe to plant it out? One more thing my multiplying onions are doing real well but are setting scapes, should I pinch them off? Will they make see?
