4:17 - "Why don't you build a door the size of a human?" That. Is. A very good question. The surface-level answer is that Arcadios didn't invent the Eclipse. He's working from blueprints he clearly doesn't fully understand, so his only option is to implement them as-is. He doesn't understand a lot of things, come to think about it. For one, the plan as described shouldn't be possible at all: you travel from gates in time A to *gates* in time B, so you can't go to before Eclipse was invented. And the common knowledge of this era is that _Zeref_ invented Eclipse, so using it to kill him would cause all kinds of paradoxes at best. For another, there has to be some dials or buttons or whatever to set the destination year, so what year he's setting? X391 is clearly too late, there should have been mentions of "Zeref demons" decades earlier. And then there's a question why Eclipse gates were designed this large to begin with. It seems that their inventor(s) were, in fact, under impression that the gates should allow dragons through...

@@chaugl1997 Uh-h-h... 1 - spoilers, dude (and false ones at that). 2 - the canon (ep. 320) behaves as if the gates existed for centuries in a place that just happened to become the capital of Fiore. But in this case, Arcadios saying here "Eclipse *construction* project", "seven years to build", etc makes zero sense. So. One part of the canon contradicts another part of the canon, take whatever you will. Given how bad the Alvarez arc is consistency-wise, I go with Arcadios explanation here being non-delusional. Either way, the essense of my answer is that Arcadios couldn't freely modify the gate due to the lack of knowledge: he did not invent time travel, he uses the legacy of someone who did. The best canon-compliant explanation I can figure out is that the gate existed in the castle for centuries but was disassembled sometime around X780. Then Arcadios rose to his current rank and after Tenroujima incident decided to kill Acnologia, for some reason believing Zeref was the source of the problem. And he found some parts of the gate and had to reconstruct some others which took years of work. But if there were no blueprints and such then how did Lahar figure it was "from the books of Zeref" at a glance?

I can understand why Datong would imprison the two celestial wizards until the day of alignment is over, but why be such an ass about it? He could have just explained it nicely and locked them into some plush and pretty guest rooms and Fairy Tail might not even have gone to rescue them in the first place, but just waited it out. But nope: Let's be brutal in arresting them and off to the dungeons like criminals! I do want to point out something with regards to the whole size issue brought up, no where in this episode explaining Eclipse or the plan for it did they ever mention that they created it for their plan. Not to mention think about it even if it was not said so far, the fact they spent 7 years to charge it up the question would then become when the hell did they have time to make it and again why so big if that were the case?

@@dazzamcg2369 Yeah, and also after some times, it's obvious that Natsu/Fairy Tail is always going to win, and nobody's gonna die (the nature of this show is rather cheerful, even if there are kind of 'dramatic' arcs like this one), this anime is rather focused on the younger audience. It's a waste, because there were characters that were on the brink of death, but they decided to magicaly bring them back, for no reason (for example Makarov, to be honest it'd make for a really sad arc/episode just like Jiraiya's death, probably resulting in a bigger popularity, better ratings, sell of the manga/anime).

@@joshbrosh6626 Brainless reactor? What does that have to do with anything? Neel does predict so much without any problem, his predictions are spot on, but he does enjoy the show. Fax doesn't really do any better in that matter, but he just simply stopped enjoying the show. It's not visible as much here, because it's cut, but i was on their patreon for few months watching the uncut versions, and while Neel gets excited and talks a lot in the episodes (even though he expects the outcomes), Fax just sleeps at those episodes, with his expression very often being as if he wanted the episodes to end ASAP.
