That was way more beneficial than I thought it would be. You are full of good information. Thanks again

I started on really heavy clay, i'm at the top of a hill but my garden slopes at the bottom of the garden if you dig 3ft the water puddles up. Over the last 10 years i've been layering organic material and compost, finally the soil is really friable and lose to about an average of 1.5ft and 2 ft in some places whereas before it was blue and yellow clay as soon as you passed 6 inches.

Just put some blueberries in a soggy place (soggy after it rains) under my swale. Hopefully they'll be happy there. I've killed a lot of 'em on top of or on sides of hugel kulturs where the dirt washes out from around the root ball but you can't see it above because the mulch is intact. I started walking around the blueberries to compress the soil back together and mulched them very heavily after noticing this - they have very shallow roots which you can see if you move one woodchip aside. Anyway, maybe I was working against their natural inclinations - I've heard they like acidic soil and that mulching with oak leaves is best, but never knew less aerobic soil (didn't even know less aerobic meant more wet) was more acidic. Thanks, Geoff. My goal is to, over the next 5 years, have so much food growing on and well supported with swales and nitrogen fixing trees, that I have an excess of everything that thrives here, so I have to preserve, sell, or give away extra and that I have something (greesn under plastic, at least) all year. Shit, I really should make an earthship with a front (South) sided greenhouse which heats my house in winter and grow mangoes in the winter. I live in Southeastern US. Should be able to have plenty of pawpaws, persimmons, mulberries, pecans (heavy in the p's). Blueberries - I've seen people have great success around here. Strawberries - those're actually easy. Wineberries. Asparagus. Please list more I should try, if you're thinking of 'em.

Hello Geoff, I live in a place in India where it is hard to bring LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) for cooking and reading more about a domestic Bio Gas plant. However, I am aware that a bio gas digester does a anaerobic digestion, my worries are associated with the anaerobic digestate. How good or bad can this digestate be for my soil, my soil being naturally alkaline. Can you please talk about it in more details?

do papayas like dry or wet soil? do tropical plants need wet in summer and dry in winter?
@DiscoverPermaculture5 жыл бұрын
Papayas like well drained soil, wet dry tropics have a dry season, equatorial wet tropics not much at all.
