The Edge of Nowhere - Metal Detecting a Desolate Colonial Settlement

Nothing beats a metal detecting adventure that takes you miles deep in to the woods, over a river, up the side of a mountain, jumping across streams, and walking a thin dirt trail cut into the side of a cliff! So that's exactly what we did. The Nibbler, Jane FonDoug, and myself took a road trip to meet up with Charlie (Heritage Relic Hunter) and Paul (PA Dirt Pirate) for a awesome day of hiking, exploring, and detecting. Amazing places and some incredible digs were in store so I'm spreading the trip across several videos.

Jason, that last coin is another William III! I can't determine the variety based on the video, but if you've got a good loupe at home, this should help give you a start in researching it. Probably 1700 at the latest, could easily be late 1600s. Congrats!

Beautiful location all around. The stone structure blows my mind seeing how it was just stacked stones 100 feet strait up. looks and sounds like you guys did excellent. Can't wait to see what else you, Kyle and Dog tag "Fingers" Doug pull out next time. Those two buttons you and Kyle were showing each other may not have been buttons. Even a real rotted or worn button usually leaves some type of shank trace. I didn't see any on those two items. Judging from the other era coins, yours might just be a worn William or George penny and Kyle's a farthing?

Awesome video/hunt guys! What an incredible house that must've been. The copper at 17:43 is definitely a draped bust large cent; you can pretty clearly see the ribbon that ties the back of Liberty's hair, which is on the upper left side of the coin's obverse, although that's probably about the only identifying feature.
