Thank you Kate. So relieved to hear that these videos are continuing. If I ever meet you in person I will greet you like an old friend and you will think, 'who is this mad old woman!' See you next Sunday 😊

Dear Kate, I am very glad you had a good response to last week's video. I am also delighted we will continue to hear from you each week. I did give some thought to your needs last week. Minerva do a tutorial/sew along using their fabrics on random patterns, as I am sure you are aware. They usually chose very basic patterns and keep the fine finishes to a zero. Some patterns you showcase are not beginner level. May I suggest a similar sew along demonstrating finer sewing points of tailoring and sewing be incorporated into particular patterns. Eg. How and when to use horse hair, boning, jacket interfacing, pick stitching and even sewing buttons on and making beautiful buttonholes. It seems to me, many people shy away from setting in a zip by machine, never mind by hand which is an exquisite finish. Perhaps this can generate greater pattern interest and sales if your customers know exactly how to achieve that final fabulous finish. I do want fantastic success for all at the Foldline as your service, enthusiasm and joy are infectious in the best possible way. Much love, Sally from South Africa

Good idea. There is a lot of help out there for beginner sewists - which I have benefitted from - I’m sure there are lots of us who are now ready to be taken to the next level.

I agree! This would be really value added and great for sewists who can't/ don't want to go to in person workshops.

Having just organized my fabric, I thought I would share. Here in the US we have remnants that are generally less than a yard sold at a discount. They are rolled (folded a second time, fold to selvage) with a strip of paper taped at the center to hold them together. So, I was able to roll almost all of my fabrics (some were a bit too bulky) and bought some cheap ikea bookshelf’s to put them on. I organized the fabric by shelves….small cuts, cotton, childrens prints, knits, flannel,etc. I put all the information on the paper strip. I love it! They are all easily visible. I also scored some cheap magnetic Roman shades from ikea that were the width of the shelves. I pull them down to prevent dust and fading 😊 For those who knit, it sort of looks like the yarn cubbies they have at some knit shops.

OMG this fabric ID tape has changed my sewing stash and the way I feel about it! No more trying to figure out if there is enough yardage for my project. ALSO, I can write which project I was thinking about when I bought the fabric. " Sourced from" and "Previously Washed" are a MUST.

I have been watching your videoss for many many years and I glad you talked about retail being lower than usual. Just got two roles of tape and two merchant and Mills patterns from your website. I will try harder to purchase from your website instead of directly from the company.

I will definitely be buying the sundress and I do love a paper pattern! So glad you will still be doing the vlogs. All retail is suffering at the moment so making our own clothes is a good option. It’s not cheap but you get a beautiful garment and can spend exactly what you want. I know my friends envy the process! Keep these beautiful patterns coming! The Foldline is such an amazing company!

Hi Kate, like one of your other viewers I feel like we are old friends. I live in Canada, so Sunday morning are: Feed the dog, cup of coffee (lived in the UK for 2 years so sometimes I am in tea mode, but hot beverage) cuddle up with the dog and watch the Fold Line. When I saw the hood/scarf my mind immediately went to Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral 😊. Although I think hers were mostly silk scarves. Keep the videos coming. ❤️❤️

What a brilliant idea from Kylie and the Machine.I’ve started pinning a piece of paper with details so I don’t get confused between plain fabrics. This is even better though.

I love that summer dress! I’m always on the lookout for things that are suitable to wear to work on those rare hot days, and I think the fact that it has wide straps and isn’t too low means it would fit the bill.

I think this I the first ime I have ever said to myself, ooh I want all of those patterns. My BFF is a farmer lady and often wears a kerchief over her hair, always reminding me of the late Queen Elizabeth. I think that hood would be perfect for her, lightweight fabric for half the year, maybe fleece for the other half.

Re: the KATM labels, I don't have info on the glue but, as a museum tech, I would caution against sticking it in the middle of the yardage. It's safer to keep it to the cut edge or the selvedge, in case the glue transfers due to #deepstash If a pencil can be used, also prioritize this over an ink pen or permanent marker. Enjoyable video, as usual.

Love this, and especially the Puff & Pencil jacket. But would someone please ask them to use a flash defuser of some sort for the photographs? :D It's so difficult to see with the harsh shadows.

I should probably start buying more fabric so that I have a reason to need the labels. 😉Also, I think I need to make the scarf for my mother-in-law who is always cold. (Maybe if I make her a scarf my brother-in-law will stop telling me I should make her a muumuu. I am not in the least bit interested in sewing clothes for other people.)

The fabric labels are genius! Will the adhesive stay on the fabric and leave marks?
@TheFoldLine Жыл бұрын
It does! It's designed to leave no residue when you remove it but if you're not sure about your fabric, maybe test it on a small corner for a few days to be sure ☺️
