One major reason as to why addicts might try abusing both types of drugs simultaneously is that once you’ve sunken deep enough in addiction, you don’t even care if you live or die. You are so full of shame, guilt, depression, anxiety, and fear that death seems like a better alternative than the life they’re currently living. Your brains reward system has completely been taken over, making using the only way to experience any sort of joy, nothing is interesting, nothing is rewarding or fun. The threat of dying from mixing the two is not even a consideration.

In October 2020 i did a cold turkey from both opioids and benzos. I used 160 mg opioids a day and at the same time 130-140 mg bezo. This cold turkey was like hell but today 1 year later i'm free and feel well and very happy for i quit.

Damn homey!!! You are EXTREMELY lucky that you're still alive!!! I'm not exaggerating either. Just the amount of the benzo that you came off of is enough to endanger your life. Benzo and alcohol withdrawals are nothing to mess with. Withdrawal from either without medical assistance can, and usually is, life threatening. My buddy did the same thing as you did but I'd say that he was taking probably half the amount of benzos that you did and he was hallucinating like crazy and he said that if he would have been alone, he said he would have committed suicide. Thank God his wife helped him through it. He came off of Xanax, oxy, cocaine and alcohol. I am so glad to hear that you succeeded and are doing better now. CONGRATULATIONS!!! He found out later from a Dr that the amount of just the Xanax that he withdrawaled from was enough to put his life in serious jeopardy. The Dr said it was a miracle that he lived through it. So you would be considered like a double miracle!!! Lol.

It depends on the actual benzo. Valium and Xanax are both benzos but 10mg of Valium is less effective than 2mg of Xanax. There are charts online to gauge the conversation rate.

Very very glad ever time I see that you have posted a new video. While this is a topic I have a ton of knowledge on its still is a goid reminder about these dangers. Ive told you before I am a methadone patient . I was an opiate addict for over 20 years . its just refreshing to have a doctor tell to you his or hers honest opinion about management drugs . for me working a good outpatient program. A good friend of mine is a fentanyl user, as just as recently of a few months ago every time he uses he blacks out and his behavior is very strange, when in the past he never used to behave this certain way and has no recollection of what he has done until I have told him, I do have to mention that he never used to act this was after using in the past so my question is his stuff being laced with Xanax or something along those lines to trigger this sort of behavior or has he reached a certain age as to where anything he consumes has the same residual effect??? Yes, it gives you a heroin high I did it a few times and I was literally nodding in and out but I put up a fight but didn't win I was so high. It amazed me how the rush from mixing oxycodone with xanax together gave me such a pleasurable euphoria high it was like a legal heroin high but better because heroin has some nasty chemicals in it so that's why people started doing this combination which is why they cracked down on opioids but you can get benzodiazpines easy.

Odd how during a pandemic, where anxiety is doubled, cushy stay at home doctors saw one article about mixing fentanyl and benzo's. Now everyone on methadone, can't get benzo's... I have a strange feeling, this is a nice way of staying at home and not having to give out half the prescriptions they were previously, all while vacationing to Aruba.

I’m about to detox from opiates and I was prescribed diazepam. Is it safe to take while detoxing? I guess it could be looked at as added motivation not to fail at this attempt because I could die if I already took the diazepam and choose to use on top of it, because the withdrawal symptoms prove to be too much for me to bare. I pray I get through it this time!

Yep. I have a complex chronic pain condition. I have been on a steady dose of an opiate for twenty years with minimal side effects. As the disease has progressed, it has cause my muscles around my back and ribs to begin to tighten progressively, make breathing difficult. So now I take diazepam, which allows the muscles to loosen. All this to say, you should be on the smallest effective dose to gain relief and increased quality of life. My father was a heroin addict. I understand addiction. I am dependent on these medications, but not for a high. I need them to move without pain, I need them to breathe. I plan on living life to the very fullest until I am physically unable to.

As of few months Dr's cut off my Ativan so I could reach suboxine 16 MG daily. But I still take few MG once in while off label as I anxiety and issues like paranoia from my chronic schizophrenic illness. Anyway I haven't dealt respatory depression like all say as I have emphysema and I intend to get my higher Ativan dose and reduce in my suboxone someday. I use caution if I do use benzo and opiate meds. Very minor doses. In combinations.

I'm currently prescribed methadone and klonopin at the same time, since my tolerance has 'leveled out I don't feel any type of high (also mainly because I don't abuse either of them) I just feel 'normal' but I've been doing a blind taper off the methadone for what feels like forever now, I just want to be done with it...

I know someone who is a diagnosed schizophrenic who has prescriptions for the following drugs: Prozac, Adderall, Seroquel, Klonopin, Doxepine, Abilify, and other mood stabilizers. She's about 100 pounds overweight, but none of the docs or prescribers mention that. No one monitors her diet or suggests an exercise program. They just keep prescribing more and more drugs. At least she's off alcohol and meth, but I'm not sure all that other crap is any better.

Been on alprazolam (Xanax) 1 MG twoje daily or both at once for large attacks. I also take Oxy 10/325 right now. I have no problem with the two, even having talk them within an hour apart. Might be high tolerance but it is a lot of sensitivity.

Oh I don't know anymore how many "friends" that woke up dead after mixing heroin and rohypnol. In my 50 years, I knew at least 30 young people who died from OD mixing beniz with horse between 1988 and 2014 when I was an amphetamine addict. Usually when you're so mixed up in all this shit you don't really think about what you shoot up your veins. You're up on speed for a week, take a couple of xanax to sleep and bang... 4 hrs later feeling fresh you do a little bit h or methadone and it's game over. Or you don't think you're high on opiods and take a couple of sleeping pills, a couple of beers and go to bed... It's a sad state of affairs alright. I'm happy I'm alive

Been on MAT for pain pills since 2008 and benzos don't do anything for me, just put me to sleep. People laugh at me because I can take a 1/2 of a 25 mg klonopin and it puts me down, directly to sleep . . . no buzz whatsoever. Most other people who are addicted to opiates say they get high. Could it be my body chemistry??

Why would you expect 12.5 mg of a powerful benzo to do anthing except knock you on your ass? Klonopin is one of the strongest benzodiazepines in existence. Benzos are the modern equivalent of barbiturates, very powerful sedatives. They are intended to make one relax or sleep. Who gave you the idea that klonopin would get you high?

​@khalilyusco5823 uhm yeah definitely. I always smoked weed since I was 13 years old. When I turned 30 i had 2 wisdom teeth taken out. I was given 20 YES 20 (5 mg) hydrocodone to last 2 weeks. DUMB ASS DENTIST SMH in the hood of Chester PA !! The 20 pills lasted 3 days max and just like that they were gone.. After that I liked it so much and it got me through work so easy I was instantly hooked, so easy just like that. I started buying oxycodone from a very trusted source, cheap too alot cheaper then street prices. Always tested them for fentanyl anyway but they were legit. Before I knew it though 2 years went by and i was a full blown addict. Sniffing them but never moved to dope. I refused. So I finally got some help and got on subs and I continued to smoke weed. No bullshit though the effect of the weed (good weed tho ⛽️ dispensary grade) and the suboxone together.. I would compare to the feeling of 15 mg oxy. I would take the sub and about an hour later I'd smoke some super good weed in a bowl. Just a few hits... And Yeah it felt like I was on a 15 mg oxy. Especially since the suboxone feeling lasts long when you first get on them. I don't condone this for anyone but I'm not against it either if your coming down off any opiod and are now on suboxone and still like to smoke weed to calm your anxiety. Do what works for you. It's worth a try instead of repeated relapses. Hope this helped someone and If anyone got through to the end of this. I hope and pray the strength and power of God will help fight through your battle . But you must acccept God in your life. Thats FIRST!! and you can do anything. He's waiting for you to open the door and I promise you will never regreat it because I was lost without God. Us humans are vulnerable and unprotected souls without God's mercy. Over the last 6 months I was prescribed Hydromorphone after a surgery and some benzos with my sertraline for the first 2 weeks of side effects. I barley took the morphine and saved most of the benzos 😂. Now that I quit drinking, I take 1 benzo and 1 Hydromorphone when Im gonna going to a social event im anxious about.

Morphine and Benzos iv form and only given too are terminally ill patients , most people don't know what causes a patient with cancer for example is when tumors that were not there originally but over the course of treatments could not stop the cancer from spreading, Chemo, surgery too remove large masses, chemo again, then radiation therapy to ease discomfort even on high oral pain medication that slowly goes up in in doses and strength until the patient is no longer within a protocol set in place, and when the lungs are involved, it's considered not treatable, by a patients care team, and when any tumors on the lungs burst, doesn't matter if it was because of human error in a radiation treatment, or of it happens naturally. The outcome is a horrible drowning as the patients lungs will fill with fuild, so for people who don't know what the real deal is, just never forget this combination used under some of the best in the medical professionals in the World, this a end of life too help ease the fear and pain of patients who are suffering to death, period. No one seems too understand that this is the truth. Don't listen too anyone who says it is BS because they on a stimulate of any kind, take that fools BP and then take your own. Then really think very hard how much money it's gonna take just too even out and not die, because it's a round Robin effect of u making others rich, while u playing games with your own lives. Do your research and ask any local pharmacist at any chain store pharmacy, they don't know you, so know the facts for yourself. I hope maybe this helps someone else. Godbless

Got off opiates and anxiety went through the roof. So went to benzo’s told it wasn’t addicting. Had to slowly stop that. It’s doctors just prescribing anything at times. Wanting to get off suboxone and was told I would need 90-120 benzos for a month to get off and still work shd keep my job but benzo’s would have me tired at all times at work and sleeping and I have a false move your severely injured or dead type of job. So can’t go that route. In a pickle right now

Oxy and Xanax was one of my favorite combos. I am now tapering off methadone and just got out of rehab for Xanax and cocaine my habits with those two wasn't too bad I was using once a week. methadone I cropped 40mg from 120mg to 80mg now I haven't experience any negative symptom thank God but I will be buying some Klonopins to have and comfort meds for when I get close to 0mg and start feeling WDs. Dr B do you think my clinic will help me with comfort meds Rx or OTC or can my psych help me don't this? I'm just curious I'm MAT clinics or phychs canan help with that

I was fortunate to have gotten both pain killers (10 mg Norco) and Valium (5mg) and booze out of my life after abusing the meds for 15 years and the booze for 55. I feel fortunate to have dodged the bullet. Hold the applause as it isn't necessary, the sobriety is enough. By the way I like kicked all e at different times and received no in patient care but did opt for Subutex and would have done so Mich earlier if the Dr. prescribing the Norco had had the good sense to have made the suggestion.

The history of benzos and how the pharmaceutical industry was able to convince the public that it was a ‘miracle’ drug AND NOT habit forming is markedly similar to what they pulled with opioids (ie. The Sackler Family/Purdue and OxyContin). How the medical profession could’ve been convinced that opioids were not habit forming defies all reason. From the opium wars of the 1800’s to what is widely known about heroin, the complicity that was required for the opioid epidemic to happen is staggering. From government, the judiciary, the medical profession, etc, the Pharmaceutical industry marches on.

Hi doc my mrs has empysema shes been using 0.5 micrograms of clonazapam to help her sleep on a night, she has now been put on morphine 5mg modified release tablets, is it wise to stop the clonazapam this is nothing to do with addiction its just that the morphine alone is giving her restless nights, waking every half hour, can you help.

This video is made to scare people plain and simple. It should be about abuse and addition but its not. First their are many types of benzodiazepines they are NOT all the same. Clonazapam has a slow acting long half life comparison and at .5 mg would have absolutely no effect on your ability to breath or cause anykind of distress unless your about to die anyway. You would have to take 100's of mg's of any type of benzodiazepine to cause death. Even if your in very ill health with respiration or breathing issues you would need to take over 50 mg of Alprazolam with more than 30 mg of Hydrocodone to cause any additional breathing problems. This video is way blown way out of proportion. Both of these drugs have a very useful medical purpose and importance that can not be replaced or substituted.

Hope your lady is doing well, I’m not a Dr, but had a family member have to take similar medication for the same illness (much higher doses than what you’re mentioning), as long as it’s prescribed by a doctor that knows about both prescriptions and she takes it exactly as directed I don’t see why it would not be safe. This video is talking about people abusing these substances which means much higher than therapeutic doses.

My father passed from mixing benzos with opiates and you would think that it'd make stay away from the shit but nope.... Like a dumbass I'm on methadone but still taking opiates while using coke everyday of the week and lately also been adding benzos to the mix. I want to quit and I NEED to quit. I want to do it for my family/friends and myself before it kills me but i feel hopeless, ashamed, full of guilt and so angry with myself because I can't quit..... what hurts the most is my grandfather seeing his grandson grown up to be an addict letting this bullshit control me... I have a job but have nothing of any value cause it's all been sold over the past few years for drug money and can't even fucking put a few dollars in my grandfather's pocket. Besides bills my money's spent on mostly drugs. I'm getting tired both physically and mentally but I need my grandfather to see me clean and become myself again, not consumed by drugs to the point I can't even take him out to grab some supper or even toss em 1-200$ here n there ffs... 😥😓

I get prescribded 47,5 mg Levomethadon and 150 mg Oxazepam per day. Oxazepam is a very slow acting benzodiazepine it takes like 1 hour to work. Because it takes so long till you feel the effects this is the reason why it's the common benzodiazepine prescribed in austria where i live for benzo addiction. But the problem is when it takes so long to begin to work you don' really feel the coming effect so you already "high" on benzos but you not really aware of it if you unterstand what i mean? And because of this sometimes i act different and do some things i regret the next day. When i'm on a different benzo like Alprazolam or Diazepam i feel the effects in like 10 minutes and so i know i have to be more carefull what i'm doing beacause i know on benzos you do some things you would normally never do. And this is the problem with Oxazepam i don't really know when the point is where i begin to act different.

5 years on suboxone and feeling great. I’m on pins but just 1 per day. I only take it if I need it. Never got a high from taking subs and pins together. But I take everything as directed or as needed. Grateful for the suboxone program I’m on.

If a person is diagnosed with VM (vestibular migraines) and takes .5 mg of clonazepam twice daily for a long period of time and was just wheeled out of the operating room from a major surgery and will have extreme pain after the anesthesia wears off, then what your saying this patient because of the need to take clonazepam for VM will just have to bear or tolerate all that pain because the doctors are unable to prescribe any opiates for pain? How cruel can you be? You should not call yourself a Doctor of Medicine.

I find them to be a wonderful medication my doctor prescribed them for me to take therapeutically as I have PTSD and severe pain from a car accident i take very strong extended release opioids daily which mange my pain and seem to work great for anxiety also which is why I don’t need benzos but I have noticed they make you feel amazing which I why I asked for them so I just take the Ativan when I feel like relaxing with a few drinks which is every 4 days or so I don’t need them that’s why they have not been a problem for me it’s only when you need them that they become a horrible medication as people who need them can’t live without them and become dependent and addicted to them. So if I ever take them a bit more and run out of them my pain killers work just fine and I don’t miss them at all I get 50 benzos every 40 days and take 10mg at a time of 2.5mg lorazepam they are so relaxing with whiskey and pain killers

The same reason Soma's and opioids blend real well .They make u feel fantastic , BUT, they also put u in such a stupor and almost a paralyzed state that u can't even walk or talk or do anything. But they feel great. But why would somebody subject their selves to being almost paralyzed but being awake, sort of , at the same time? BECAUSE IT FEELS SOOOO FREAKIN GOOD!!!!!!
