Just finished listening the audiobook Deepwork by Cal Newport. He said that if you want to be productive and focused, quit social media. I removed instagram and facebook in my phone for 5 months now. I still use facebook only in my desktop intended for work purposes only.. My anxiety decreased after doing this. It really helped me alot. I am happier. Thank you for sharing this Isabelle. #newsubscriber

I read that book too! I'm going to read his Digital Minimalism soon. I noticed that my anxiety comes from guilt about being unproductive bec of lack of focus. I'm still working on my productivity and focus, but being able to cut down my phone and social media time from 4-6 hours a day to 25 mins a day is already an accomplishment for me. I have felt significantly better too after deleting Instagram. I still have my Facebook but I only mostly use it for Messenger.

I am happy with my decision and I learn more about my self and now I'm very confident of who I really am and need no more validation from the people around me nor from social media friends. Meditation sessions help me to go through all of it. I'm proud of who I become right now😊

This is very timely, I experienced a lot of these effects for the past 3 years. One thing that helped me stop the comparison, the jelousy, anxiety and stress due to this addiction is to unfollow people, pages & group that contributes to it. I started following influencers that makes me grateful of what I have without any validation and makes me think that life is still wonderful even if it’s not shared on social media. I appreciate the time I spent with my family and even the little things that I have now. This makes me realized that, once I let this addiction control me then I can no longer help myself because no one knows the battle you’re in when you yourself can’t control it. Everything starts to change when you decide to do something about it.

Thanks for sharing this video. Its about time that we focus on mental illness. Its true that social media has its good and bad effects on people. I am an example of that long time ago. I was on Facebook all the time and I get jealous when I see my friends having such a good time, traveling, starting their own lives, having fun with their family, etc. I began to compare myself to them, I asked myself "why is my life not like that?", " why are they happy and I'm not?" and I wanted what they have and it gave me depression & anxiety. So I went to therapy and started to limit my time on social media and i removed people on Facebook/Instagram that are toxic or should i say causes my negativity and my life has improved immensely. I started to feel grateful for what I have even the little things and it made a difference in my life. I feel that all of us should limit our time on social media and start seeing the world around us and spend more time with our family and friends. Its ironic because I have been working in a mental health area for several years and I experienced depression/Anxiety. Instead of feeling ashamed, I let other people know what i am going through and how I overcome the depression and anxiety. People should learn to empathize with other people that are experiencing this kind of difficulty in their lives. It's about time that we make everyone aware in the Philippines about Mental Health since it is a stigma over there. There is nothing wrong in seeking help to a psychiatrist or therapist. This just shows that you are willing to change and work on getting your mental health back on track. People such as family or friends should stop saying that people are "crazy" because they are seeing a psychologist or therapist. In addition, if you know that your family member or friends are suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, etc. it makes a difference when you show them that you are supportive of them seeking help. Family & friends support makes a difference and it will help speed the process of healing. Make them aware that you are always there for them, you don't need to give them advice but just showing that you are willing to listen to them makes a big difference. If i go back to the Philippines, my advocacy is on mental health awareness. I hope that someday I will have a chance to do what you do in regards to mental health awareness. Please continue to make videos like this. I apologized if my comment is long.

the reason why im not posting anything on all my social media accounts except insta stories cause no ones gonna see how many people took time to see my post and it disappears after 24hrs, so basically just having simple things to post for awhile but not being committed to it. this video very helpful for those people who are just starting to feel the struggle. i am happy and contented right now as i practice this thing for almost 2 years now. im 22, and feeling proud for this little thing that i am practicing. it doesnt remove all the negative thoughts but atleast not being involved in being in a competition 😊

I still keep Facebook, so I can still read news and stuff, but I unfollowed every single one of my friends. I feel like the updates and news about the lives you follow on social media (even your closest friends) can contribute to self-pity, envy, etc., which will lead to anxiety and depression. I'm definitely feeling a lot better now and we'll see what happens.

Though I seldom use Ig, I would want to post motivational quotes for MYSELF that would be helpful to others. Always think that whatever you do is for yourself and not to please anyone. Sometimes society judges or dictates us but its important to have something for yourself. Have a bit of “uniquness” or much better be unique. Depression is there...you just have to deal with it or else it will eat you up alive. I hope that Ms. Isabel do more of a content like this. One that really enlightens people 👍🏼❤️

Thank you for this. Very very imformative. I'm always active on a lot of SMS especially FB and IG. I completely agree with the psychologist when he said that people tend to compare themselves to others and I'm so guilty of that. Instagram particularly made me realize that I lack tons of things and on certain areas. I always see beautiful people with clear smooth skin, beach-ready bodies, nice hippy clothes, and living "the life". I think that what I should really do is just focus on self improvement. Start the mindset of "You do you" and "I do me". PS, YT is quite a game changer because you can actually learn a lot of things. Channels like Ted-Ed is good and educational.

Hi Miss Isabel, I'm glad that you came up with this content, it's very timely. Social Media Addiction can be modified, through Behavioral Modification wherein you can use either punishment or reward to yourself whenever you are going to use soc.med apps. Sa pagiging comparative naman, it really happens, I have a niece who uses tiktok a lot , and make lots of videos and kapag pinost niya and walang nagview or naglike she tends to compare herself na sa iba, And that really is the negative side na nadudulot ng social media. Lalo na lahat ng soc.med halos may likes and comment section. Na nagtitrigger para magkaroon ng comparative system ang mga users.

Social Media now's really expanding, and some of its effects are rampant and negative, though we can tell that it's best feature is connecting people from one way or another.
