42:22 There was a game on PS1, called Blood Will Tell, which is pretty much as you describe and the only of that kind that I can think of... You started the game almost purely robotic, and the goal was to hunt down 99 demons that each took a piece of your body... When you get a piece of your body, you remove one of your mechanical parts and lose power but become more human Example: Game is in black and white until you kill the first demon to aquire your human eyes, after that the game is in color... Other than that though, game was kind of shit

Trivia of possible interest: the Extranoids appearance and their line "Return what you have stolen from us" are references to the Terry Gilliam's portrayal of God in Time Bandits. In that movie, God, referred to as the "Supreme Being," appears first as an animated pale luminous face, which chases his dwarf employees for stealing his map of the universe. He taunts them with: "Return what you have stolen from me! Return the map! It will bring you great danger!" In the end of the movie, it's revealed that God is a bumbling British bureaucrat whose only explanation for the existence of evil is "I think it has something to do with free will."

Of all the heads-up-their-arse universal philosophy 18/8.5deep5yuu shit I've seen this one comes across rather unpretentious. Maybe it's just that it lays its cards down first, it doesn't just show something vaguely alluding to shinji being God's dad or some shit, it fucking tells you. I guess on top of that the ending wasn't some batshit insane stuff, it was, well, universally important (For lack of a better term) but it didn't pull any shit. Basically what I'm trying to say is why the fuck doesn't yahtzee have a movie/games studio with all the money in the world, because he's the only fucking one who deserves it these days.

Well, I'm sorry, it's not sitting well with marketing, we know it's your project, it's definitely ALL your project, but we're kinda paying for it so the main character's gonna be one of the most referenced articles on tv tropes and the plot's budget has been replaced by tits, so fuck you."

Ryan Mitchell I appreciated the overarching existential concept in this, too. It's a surprisingly optimistic one for Yahtzee and I'm disappointed he didn't take any time to comment on it specifically. Loving the works of Douglas Adams I'd certainly go for Yahtzee's stab at comedic sci-fi. I think the idea of the depowering RPG is an interesting one, a few games give you the 'abilitease' at the start before stomping you to level 1 but actually making it a key mechanic is a cool concept, perhaps daemons that to be defeated need to be bound in your armour/weapons that would in turn negate the buffs of the items or give you debuffs. Perhaps a system where the item/ability most utilised by the player or used in the killing blow to the boss is removed, forcing players to change up style?

And since I've just deleted a rather long thread derailed by people taking issue with me pointing this out, allow me to explain: Yahtzee will probably never see this, but if he did he might verify his information in the future and not make a similar mistake when creating a new game. I feel that this would be a good thing as I can imagine a great deal of frustration arising from this error. Also, I don't think correcting someone constitutes rude behavior, unless it's done in a rude way. If you look above, my correction takes the form of merely pointing out the problem. I consider letting someone continue, unaware of behavior that most likely has and could possibly in the future affect others negatively, to be the wrong choice.

It would also be awesome if he was found by Daniel Gordon and friends, and together go on a Anachronox/Guardians of the Galaxy/Space Quest adventure of epically silly proportions.
