Funny that your party scene required guests to take shoes off while in the house, I actually bought a pair of these in black solely (hah) for the purpose of being a house shoe. The leather they use is really very nice and what pulled me in, but the flimsy midsoles I did not find all that comfortable even with or without the nice thick insole. The drop heel also does not seamlessly invoke the most comfortable experience, it's like when you put on shoes without noticing a coin or some other foreign object was inside and each step is more annoying than the last, but you actually paid for it to be like that. I feel like the heel design could be better executed if that material had a more practical channel to nestle into rather than just being an 1/8 inch flap you're constantly stepping on. This video reminded me that I actually wanted to return the shoes since I've only worn them around the house a couple of times and was not impressed so I just stick with my Adidas slides, but since I got them for $60 from REI Used Gear practically brand new maybe I'll keep em in case I'm on a yacht any time soon. I in no way want to deter folks from buying this product, I think the concept is great and the materials are nice while my pain points may not be the same as many others. I just hope to provide some perspective to help folks make an informed decision. Great videos, I miss the sound of the bandsaw but the blade ripping through leather is still nice.

Whenever you want to test boots, it would be nice if you could test either Royer or Canada West Boots. Royer is really popular but they compete mainly with the low to mid tiers. Meanwhile, I have never seen a pair of Canada West but they seem nice. You could also make a super clickbait title like "Are Canadian boots better than Nick's!!!" (I don't think they are but they are quite cheaper)

I been wearing Olukai for years and make some of my favorite shoes. Lived in Hawaii for 12 years and Olukai slippahs are hands down the most comfortable out there. Got myself a pair of Maloa shoes and they are perfect. Had them for 3 years and they are still the most comfortable shoe I've found.
@kenny69203 жыл бұрын
Hey I worked at Olukai's office as an IC, and have their hiking boot (they were kind enough to give a gift card for my work anniversary). They're okay, not super durable more like a lifestyle/outdoor kick around shoe in general. I would never hike more than a flat, easy day hike in them.

I have been in love with the Olukai brand since I saw them in Maui about 15 years ago and have bought a few pairs of their slides, but I just haven’t found a pair I can wear comfortably(they’re all too loose). Their slides and flip-flops feature some great designs, but imo are more style than function. And I suppose that if they actually made them in Hawaii they’d cost a few hundreds dollars a pair - which I might be willing to pay if they were wearable.

You should do a flip-flop cut apart month during the summer! I picked up Olukai's top of the line flip flop (the 120 dollar full leather one) 3 years ago and have worn them every day of the week, year round for probably thousands of miles at this point - pushing 100 backpacking trips (basically every single weekend) and tons of other abuse, and they're still in basically perfect condition. It would be interesting to compare them to all the other flip flops out there like Reefs, Margaritaville, Rainbows, etc and see what is inside!
@AuRowe2 жыл бұрын
Facts but just fyi Olukai is 100% made in China nowadays and if you're in Hi checkout Island Slipper and support local. They range from 70 - 150 USD but its so worth it, last longer than Olukai (some Olukai don't last long) and they size to your feet. The Mokalua is the best for flex and water. Also far more repairable since they're handmade. Island Slipper been around since the 1940's

Hey RA, just wanted to congratulate you on how far your channel has come. Can you clarify a couple of things for us if you haven't already? 1. Is this vid sponsored solely because Olukai provided the shoes for review, or were you paid additional compensation? 2. On "Sponsored" vids like this one, did you give Olukai copy approval over the video (The right for them to view and approve it before upload)? Going forward I'd be specific about these things in the video itself if you want to maintain your well-earned rep. We just want to know what we're watching is all. A good example of how to do this right is Michael Fisher's channel (Mr. Mobile). He always discloses what was provided to him, and if he maintained copy approval or the manufacturer bargained for that. All the best to you!
