Bethesda'll never do it. It'll probably be the TESRenewal project, making it on the Skyrim or TESVI engine, as Skyrena or (insert TESVI's name)arena.

Josh spent quite a while looking for a pronunciation and didn't find anything so originally he pronounced it Juh-garr. Later he found an official one and apparently, it's Jay-garr so Josh had to re-narrate the whole thing. Haha. -Kyle

in bethesda's priority list, i bet an arena remake is probably at the very bottom of it, since the development team has already changed so much, and arena uses a very different engine of todays elders scrolls games, the game would need to be pratically completly redone and given it's popularity as the worst TES game, i doubt bethesda would ever do it

I don't know if I'm in the minority or not here, but I MUCH prefer this style of video over the Storyteller. The stilted voice acting and animations in the Storyteller distract from the stories they try to tell, whereas the Elder Scrolls Lore series were some History Channel-quality videos. This is much better, in my opinion.

Jace Smith well look at hishe (how it should have ended) they used their time in a productive, creative way. By making movies using digital computer program, they didn't do let's plays. They did something creative and that's what I like about them. If Josh keeps on making great lore for lots of fans, he could like 1 millions subs soon. I mean I'm working on an Elder Scrolls Fandom lore inspired by Josh's Elder Scrolls Lore. I may not get a lot of views, at least it shows how much i like this series : )

Talin was not the player character of Arena. General Talin Warhaft served as the General of the Imperial Legion and the personal bodyguard to Emperor Uriel Septim VII in the Third Era. During the Imperial Simulacrum, Jagar Tharn not only banished the Emperor to Oblivion, he also sent General Warhaft there as well. When the Eternal Champion defeated Tharn, not only did Emperor Uriel Septim VII come back from Oblivion, but General Warhaft came back as well. After the Emperor thanked The Eternal Champion for rescuing him, Warhaft enters and interrupts the Emperor, saying: "It seems, [character name], that I am quite in the way. Not only have you managed to save the Emperor, but my life as well. I cannot be but proud of one who has truly earned such renown, and my deepest respect..." Talin Warhaft's future past Arena is unknown.

I think it would be bad ass if Bethesda did a HD remake of arena. Of if someone made a mod, like Skywind, but with arena instead. Unless that has already been done an I am unaware of it lol. I'm sure it would be a lot of memory though since arena and Daggerfall you could explore all of tamreil. Still. I'd kill to see a remake. (And partially because I still can't get past that damn first dungeon lol.)

Joey Matheny I here that Bethesda's website lets you play it for free. If not, I play mine because I have the Anthology. Defiantly worth the price if you are willing to spend the money ;). But yeah ha ha. The game is fun...but wow is it hard! I still can't get past the darn first level. I think that it would be cool if they remade it. But yeah ha ha, people might think they are ruining the classics or want some cash. Which is a shame because I think that this game would make a good remake...

Without the access to the files of something like Elder Scrolls Online where all provinces are unlocked, it's impossible to re-make a game like Arena. Also, download the game from UESP instead of Bethesda's site since UESP has fan patches and they already configure DOSBOX for you (unless you still have DOS installed on your PC)

Thx so much ShoddyCast for all your hard work and I look forward to seeing more. Consider this people, the more we support them there is potential to recruit more people if they choose so these videos might come to us even faster. Without if it takes 150 hrs to get 7 minute videos then how long do you think it would take to get all the video everyone keeps asking for?

I returned to the original land of Tamriel a few months ago after downloading Arena. It had been almost 17 years since I last played it and what began as just a short trip into nostalgia turned into over 40 hours of gameplay! For a game this old to still have that kind of effect speaks volumes of the depth and vastness this series was soon to offer. I dared not return to Daggerfall lest I lose another two weeks freeing the ghost of King Lysandus. I love this guys. Keep up the good work!

Your narration has improved a lot since the beginning of the series. I think I went back and watched basically all of your elder scrolls lore videos and I wish there were more. The game doesn't do a good job of explaining it all unless you play back in Morrowind and also read a lot of the books. This series made me appreciate the lore even more and I find myself reading more of the books and understanding a lot more of the dialogue. I do wish you had all of your elder scrolls lore videos on one playlist, though. Most are on playlists, but a few I really had to dig for :)

See the thing is, Bethesda fucked up the Lore, because if you actually play the first Elder Scrolls Game the head of royal guard is sent to the dimension with him, but about 10 years ago Bethesda was just like “thats not a very good story, lets fuck it up” so now talin the one who was sent to the dimension with the emporer, is the protagonist. So... theres That.

***** those games aged very badly for people who haven't played it yet. There is no nostalgia that keeps them playing, and even Morrowind is a slow paced compared to modern games. You can rant all you want about how games now don't have as much feeling in the environments and stories as the games in your past, but the fact is that you love these games so much and can get over the gameplay because it is most likely from your childhood (I'm not gonna try and make that assumption but a lot of people who feel this way do have the nostalgic feeling from it). People who are just getting into the story now, don't have the same motivation.
@SYMBIOTEDINOSAUR

You are so wrong. I started daggerfall in late 2013. I have no nostalgia of any elder scrolls game because I played the series backwards. I hate how people try to say that arena-morrowind are bad games and only nostalgia makes them fun. They are fun games. I highly recomend daggerfall.
@kyleboyd217
@kyleboyd217 9 жыл бұрын
***** i played morrowind through when i was too young to really remember, but i do remember enjoying it. When i went back to play it recently after playing skyrim, the lack of voice acting and tolerable combat mechanics was an immediate turn off and constant bore. I decided to struggle through it because i knew that there was some depth to my enjoyment of it when i was younger and if i gave up on it too early, i would miss out on the parts that make it good. when i completed it i found that the story elements of the game and the overall more thought provoking puzzles were not enough to save the complete bore of combat, and the incessant copy and pasting of generic responses from NPCs that 1) broke immesion 2) felt pointless and more like a chore than an investigation or mission. I have never played arena but i did attempt to play Daggerfall and found that all the problems i felt with morrowind were amplified to the nth degree. The fact is, the games before Oblivion were a completely different type of RPG, more fit for puzzle gameplay than the combat mechanics that Oblivion and Skyrim much improved. The technology of teh age is definitely something that SHOULD factor into a gamers opinion of it, it can be a gem of the time, but that doesnt mean its still enjoyable to you once youve experienced different things. Games DO age and if you can deal with the problems of the era, congratulations. But some people would rather just hear the story (something that doesnt rely on the technology of the era) without having to deal with uninteresting gameplay. Im sure if you were given the choice to use a car, or a horse-drawn carriage with a horse that tells a neat story, you would just take the car and listen to the story from another person

***** indeed, most spells/actions noted in the lore are spells that those mages researched, broke down Magic teachings to their basics, and formed their own spells.. they did the work of über-masters. A lvl 100 destruction mage is NOTHING. Try a level 200 Conjuration, with 150 Destruction, 100 Restoration and 150+ Alteration. Then you'd MAYBE come close to the masters of Magica troughout the era's.. They dedicated entire LIVES to figure out their own spells, making new ones.. ;)

***** yeah like always .cod clone, cod that, cod this...stop this shit ..cod is a great game for those who like that kind of game. and as for the matter beside cs, cod md 1 i never played any other shooting game , just rpg and mmo mostly i and i played allot of them. what i was saying was that the writers of game are always some cheap and failed movie writers who just fill the story with some bullshit of the past that probably coped from somewhere..and when it comes to bring those to the present gameplay .. they manage to ruin the story of the game. (and sorry if i have not express my self well, is just that i can't write english to good.)

Change that description from RPG/MMO games to every Call of Duty game in the past 7 years and that is exactly why everyone rightfully hates them. Bad writing, Bad/Nonexistent storyline, Stuff stolen straight from other bad shooters and last but not least boring and repetitive gameplay that barely ever changes, and even when it does it just makes it even worse! I TRUSTED YOU INFINITYWARD! GHOSTS WAS GOING TO FINALLY CHANGE THINGS, BUT YOU FUCKED IT UP! I MEAN... THOSE BLANKMAN AND SAVING PRIVATE RYAN REFERENCES WERE PRETTY COOL BUT YOU STILL FUCKED IT UP! (World at War and anything Zombies related was ok though)

It's total bullshit how the Eternal Champion (Arena's main character) has been canonically set as Talin. No other Elder Scrolls game has had the beloved ambiguity of the player character stripped away! What if the Nerevarine was actually some guy named Joe. How would you like that? Some boring ass Breton named Joe. Puh.

He's been canonically set as the Eternal Champion, but I don't consider him to be that. Why would Arena give you other racial/gender options if you were expected to be Talin? Besides, Ria mentions something in that little cutscene at the beginning of Arena: how you're a minor part of the emperor's court. It makes more sense for you *not* to be Talin.

Ok, 2 questions: 1. How long is the event in TES:Arena ? the video says that Talin (or the Eternal Champion) spent about 10 years finding the staff's fragments, but TES:Daggerfall said to take place only 6 years (CMIIW) after TES:Arena... (TES:A is in 3E399 but TES:D is in 3E405). Does TES:D take place while TES:A still in motion? 2. Why Jagar Tharn didn't just kill Uriel Septim VII ?

+Thomas Millan They would've been crushed if they hadn't. That's why I hate having to choose in skyrim. I mean, it's not the Empire's fault for signing the White-Gold Concordat. They had to do what they had to do to save their kingdom. But then, the Stormcloaks are also doing the right thing. They are fighting for what they believe in, Talos. Honestly, I think the Talos thing is a hoax. I'm not saying that in the games Talos doesn't exist, just that Ulfric isn't fighting for that reason. I think he's fighting to become the high king. I think he's fighting to become the most powerful person in skyrim. But with the Talos excuse, all the nords will side with him. Face it, Ulfric did some very bad things. Why couldn't he have just declared independence from Skyrim? But he killed the High King. Of course it wasn't murder, he challenged Torryg but it is killing all the same. This is what Sybille Stentor said about it: “Ulfric showed up at the gates of Solitude requesting an audience. We thought he was here to ask Torygg to declare independence. By the time we realized Ulfric was here to challenge Torygg… it was already too late.

+The Phantom of the Pizzeria You forget that Ulfric Stormcloak was (and presumably still is) a thalmor agent. Think about how much the Stormcloak's rebellion helps the Thalmor's interests, throwing the empire's largest province into disarray, causing chaos and distracting the empire from rebuilding.
@thephantomofthepizzeria650
@thephantomofthepizzeria650 9 жыл бұрын
Paragon Archie ... so that the Thalmor can easily take control while they are in panic? Smart move. But I honestly don't think that he is still a Thalmor agent. Just because. His rebellion is about Talos, and he basically made it so that people can worship Talos freely in the Stormcloak areas. The Stormcloaks have control over half of Skyrim. That means a ton of people are worshipping Talos. If the Thalmor wanted to cause chaos and use Ulfric, I don't think they would do it this way, just because they are basically letting TONS of people in Skyrim worship Talos. I honestly did totally forget about that part, him being a former (and possibly still if I'm wrong) Thalmor agent. Thanks for reminding me.
@thephantomofthepizzeria650
@thephantomofthepizzeria650 9 жыл бұрын
I forgot to mention another part of why I don't think Ulfric is a Thalmor agent. The execution. It really looked like they were truthfully about to assassinate him. But the dragon happened to show up, saving him and the rest of the prisoners. It's not like the Thalmor can control dragons. OR CAN THEY? TES 6: Altmer-Born CONFIRMED

As far as I'm aware, Bethesda's handed development to the team responsible, Zenimax. There's a good chance we might see another Elder Scrolls game coming soon, but don't hold your breath. Now that Bethesda's jumped into the MMO universe, getting out of it will be very difficult. If they simply close it for the sake of continuing the game series, they might do a lot more harm to The Elder Scrolls than good; just look at WoW. Blizzard has yet to make another Warcraft title and probably never will. In all actuality, the day WoW shuts down I feel is the day Blizzard starts to go out of business. Once you make a massive moneymaker like that, it's pretty hard to go back to basics...
