"So..." I started with a sigh. "You made it." My Bosmer smiled before taking a sip of her mead, amber eyes still set on the shimmering lake in front of us. "Yeah, I... Guess I did. Thank you." "For what?" I asked, confused even as she turned her warm smile to me. I had envisioned that smile so many times, only shown to those she deeply cared for. Not me. Not someone she would never actually know. At least, I thought she'd never actually know me. "For everything," the elf laughed in disbelief. "I mean, look what we did! What *you* did." I followed her gaze to the house behind us, taking in everything. Farkas and their two daughters chased each other in front of Lakeview Manor, and the tawny horse, Summer, stood content in her stable. The sun shone bright, almost blinding on the waters of the lake but welcomed all the same. I shrugged it off with a small smile. "Well, one of us had to be happy. I figured you had a better chance than I did." The Bosmer froze and I could feel her eyes on me. "Hey," she breathed when she saw my eyes grow misty, placing a hand on my shoulder. "It's ok. You know, it's the most broken people that carry the most beauty in their hearts." I barked a laugh when she parroted my- well, her- words back to me. "Yeah, beauty doesn't do me a lot of good a home, Taer." It hit me then, how much I didn't want to go back to my own home. I wanted to stay here, in this world that I found my peace in, where there was no screaming awaiting me if I got home five minutes late, no fear of being hit with a cup if I made a slip of the tongue. "Now you listen to me," Taer said solemnly. "If you can take me, a nobody Bosmer, and make her a leader of the companion, the wife of an amazing man, a stormcloak general, a dragonborn of legend, the mother two beautiful daughters, the slayer of a vampire king, a *hero*, then you can do anything." A watery laugh escaped me. "And when you feel like you can't," she continued, turning my face so I'd look at her, "I'll be right here to remind you of how strong you are."
