The concept of the elder scrolls is proof that all these events are true and false at the same time. Only certain major events are the same at the apex. Different people can peer through time and see different outcomes. It's setup that way on purpose to keep creativity flexible so when you really get down to it the major parts of the lore are literal because that's the only part that will always remain the same the details not so much
@Shifft-This Жыл бұрын
@@rushpatriot2866 I like the way you worded this. I think it also adds some realism (the good kind) to the fantasy elements of the series. For example, I was just making a joke with a friend the other day that in the game they talk about Ulfric "shouting the high king apart" and I pointed out that we never get to do that and how awesome it would be to shout at someone and they explode. But then upon my recent playthrough I spoke with Ulfric and he points out that it was untrue, he did shout at the King, but it only unarmed him but ultimately he stabbed him with his sword to kill him. This is in stark contrast to what Elisif (the high kings wife) says when you ask about the High King's death and she still stands by the story of him being shouted apart and how it was like a "nightmare" to witness it. The details being blurred and lost in people's perception of the events is what adds color to reading the "lore" of the game. You're never sure how much is embellished and how much is actually true, much like real history which is why it's so engaging to both read, and play the franchise.

Talos the mighty! Talos the unerring! Talos the unassailable! To you we give praise! We are but maggots, writhing in the filth of our own corruption! While you have ascended from the dung of mortality, and now walk among the stars! But you were once man! Aye! And as man, you said, "Let me show you the power of Talos Stormcrown, born of the North, where my breath is long winter. I breathe now, in royalty, and reshape this land which is mine. I do this for you, Red Legions, for I love you." [note 1] Aye, love. Love! Even as man, great Talos cherished us. For he saw in us, in each of us, the future of Skyrim! The future of Tamriel! And there it is, friends! The ugly truth! We are the children of man! Talos is the true god of man! Ascended from flesh, to rule the realm of spirit! The very idea is inconceivable to our Elven overlords! Sharing the heavens with us? With man? Ha! They can barely tolerate our presence on earth! Today, they take away your faith. But what of tomorrow? What then? Do the elves take your homes? Your businesses? Your children? Your very lives? And what does the Empire do? Nothing! Nay, worse than nothing! The Imperial machine enforces the will of the Thalmor! Against its own people! So rise up! Rise up, children of the Empire! Rise up, Stormcloaks! Embrace the word of mighty Talos, he who is both man and Divine! For we are the children of man! And we shall inherit both the heavens and the earth! And we, not the Elves or their toadies, will rule Skyrim! Forever! Terrible and powerful Talos! We, your unworthy servants, give praise! For only through your grace and benevolence may we truly reach enlightenment! And deserve our praise you do, for we are one! Ere you ascended and the Eight became Nine, you walked among us, great Talos, not as god, but as man! Trust in me, Whiterun! Trust in Heimskr! For I am the chosen of Talos! I alone have been anointed by the Ninth to spread his holy word!

Quick correction : Dragonborns are immortal, because their souls are, even in a mortal body And if they continue to absorb dragon souls they can live as long as they want (it's like absorbing someone life force), until there's no dragons souls left, they die, and the souls return to Akatosh He create them new bodies, put the souls back, etc.... By definition, ALL Dragonborns and dragons (all septims, St. Alessia, Miraak, etc...) are all "alive" somewhere in some plan of existence, they can be sealed but not destroyed

Technically if you look at it , from time to time the Daedric princes invade the plane and try to conquer it. Molag Bal and Dagon were defeated. But i feel like the secrete enemy that waits in the shadows all along is Hermaeus Mora. Hes been there in nearly all games and absorbed knowledge from all the main characters in a way. In skyrim you can even choose to serve him, and whats more you can never face him directly and physically because he is everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I feel like he will make a big change in Elder Scrolls 6.

I can already imagine it. Second Great War commences. Empire and its allies are going against Thalmor. A huge battle rages as both sides are giving it their all. But empire is weakened and cannot hold Dominion forces back. But then... as all hope seems lost... cavalry arrives from north. Nords of Skyrim charge the elves, but that is not all. One amongs them, a great hero in dragon armor, yells to the heavens and thousand roars echo. Dragons join the battle, following their leader, Dovahkiin-Thuri. Dragon shouts tear Dominion forces to pieces, Dragonborn, in all thier glory, cuts through enemies like nothing. For the first time, elves see that they are no match for this man. No matter their appearant race, this warrior is a dragon. War ends, elven kings and lords are begging for their lives at Dragonborn's feet. One of them asks "Who are you?" Mighty Dragonborn looks at him, takes a deep breath and "Bitch, I'm Dragonborn." XD

It would be nice to be a sword singer in the next game, though if you can pick a non Redguard, I guess it means Sword singing isn't Redguard specific. Though it might be said that canonically your character will be Redguard is Sword Singing plays a role. A Sword Singing Redguard fighting in the next Great War would make an awesome game.

I don't think the second great war should be the sole focus of the story. Maybe have it tie in with the main quest like in skyrim but have it be actually impactful to the story and the outcome of the game like skyrim. The only mainline game that had a mortal(s) as the main enemy was Arena which I haven't played. Then again that would be cool too as long as we get to see how the blades were involved in the first great war in Hammerfell and would be involved in the second and maybe get to play as the avatar of diagna or work with him to protect Hammerfell from Thalmor/other threats

the game hinted so much at a confrontation between the empire and the thalmor. listen to general tullius' and legate rikke's lines after you win the war. they hint that there are battles yet to come for the empire, but they only tell you about this AFTER you help the empire with the war. the entire stormcloak v empire storyline was setting up the confrontation between the empire and the thalmor in the near future

This is just scratching the surface of the lore, there are still major points untouched like how the Nords first invaded skyrim and drove the snow elfs out and later how they turned into the twisted Falmor after years of slavery by the dwemers and also the rise and fall of the dark brotherhood, the eruption of the red mountain and how the argonians invaded morrowind and the mysterious disappearance of the dwemer. Or what the elder scrolls actually are and how they even exist. Then there is also the dragon war. There is then also when the redguards and high elfs left there original home because their island began to sink. The elder scrolls have so much lore it's almost impossible the get every detail

14:00 Wait. Even though Vampires tend to dislike the sun, in most works of fiction, hasn't it been established that the Elder Scrolls Sun is actually a giant hole in the sky that allows magic from the magic realm to reach Nirn ? In other words : if the Vampires managed to block out the Sun in The Elder Scrolls, wouldn't that remove all magic from their world ? Also, Vampires are undead and can only 'live' because of some kind of magic, so, ... wouldn't that actually 'kill' them for good ?
@heyimanameheyimalastname4 жыл бұрын
A couple things: First, the hole isn't in the sky of Nirn, it's a hole that was ripped through Oblivion, which surrounds the material plane, into Aetherius. In other words, it's both hella far away from the planet and also a hole through an entire plane of existence, so I don't think it's meant to be taken as the hole actually being closed, but simply as blocking the light from reaching that one planet specifically. Second, the stars are also all holes into Aetherius, so it's certainly possible that even if the sun were closed, there'd still be enough magic getting through for things like vampires to still exist, though I'd have to imagine magic as a whole would certainly be much harder to use and/or less powerful

A lot of these words aren't exactly plain english so it's way easier to retain the information or learn new stuff if we can see the spelling of things. Maybe just a dedicated caption "slide" the first few times you introduce another ESO word. Like captioning that sentence as you're saying it then moving on with the imagery

If they did that, then it's just for the Empire to defeat them eventually, and maybe add to some historic bad blood. Remember ESO is the 2nd Era. Tiber Septum has to rise to power and conquer all of Tamriel ushering in the 3rd Era. (except Morrowind having only fallen to Imperial rule centuries later shortly before ES3)
@justinsherman93504 жыл бұрын
ESO and the events therein are totally irrelevant to broader Elder-Scrolls continuity. That game's a Dragon-Break of a Dragon-Break's Dragon-Break at best. Putting it on the timeline is like putting the content of all your sexy-time mods up there as cannon.
@EM-vw7im4 жыл бұрын
@@justinsherman9350 Nope, its canon, everytime fanboys see something they dont like, its nope. Time stuff so it didnt actually happen. Some of the faction stuff or individual quest might just be for the mmo, but the broader story is legit.
@justinsherman93504 жыл бұрын
@@EM-vw7im ESO has no continuity with Canon. This was established clearly when it first came out. It touches on characters and events consistent with the lore obviously, but nothing that happens in ESO that isn't directly taken from existing elderscrolls canon can impact existing elderscrolls Canon. That's precisely why they chose to set the game around a concocted three-way war completely non-existent in the existing lore and ultimately completely irrelevant to the existing lore. Hence why I say ESO is at most a really goofy Dragon-Break of a Dragon-Break, as how else are several thousand people playing out the same story as the sole hero while directly interacting with eachother/questing together, fighting in a massive continent-spanning conflict that everyone somehow entirely forgot about?

In an old trailer for Dawnguard, the dragonborn is seen to be a vampire and they don't seem to be acting benevolently. It's probably not the case, but until we find out otherwise, my headcanon is that the dragonborn does become a vampire. Perhaps it's just to enter the Soul Cairn with what's her face, only time will tell.
@heyimanameheyimalastname4 жыл бұрын
Well yeah, because that's a possibility in-game. Just like in every game you can become a vampire/werewolf and murder the entire province if you like, but that doesn't make it canon in any of them
@jonathanthompson47344 жыл бұрын
