Its good to see that electric boats are trending, I'm surprised it hasn't caught on earlier. The concept does makes a lot of sense with low maintenance and less worrying about fuel costs. The only thing that gets me is the range; If I got range anxiety already with my model y, I can't imagine what the feeling is with one of these boats on the open ocean running on electric batteries.

Absolutely wonderful concept and a beautiful boat. Truly the near future power for pleasure craft. Now they just need to get those batteries to hold a load for twice as long at 80 percent power, and make the recharge cycle faster. May need an auxiliary internal combustion motor to recharge underway, like they did with World War 2 submarines. Thanks for posting and taking an interest in this power plant for general boating.

@cobra-he9xj3 жыл бұрын
The inability to make even a tiny dent in battery charge based on that small top while underway has been mathematically proven here already. Not enough power can be provided to run the electric motor even at low speed. Full charge time is over 1 month via solar so a few hours on the water is therefore, insignificant. Not to mention the environmental damage from mining the raw materials to make the panels. Go look it up. You won't be so excited after educating yourself. I was surprised and disappointed myself. You can't charge an electrical system that is providing power to drive the charging generator. If that worked, it would be "free energy" and would violate nature. And any drag caused by placing prop driven generators in the water (even not directly driven) would be the same problem. No free lunch.

Whoa! Did you see the *Electric Boat FIRE* at Ft. Pierce inlet? It was a Twin Vee model. Completely destroyed. Entire craft burned with huge flames and dense black smoke. Mmmm, healthy.

They didn't want to show how fast the batteries discharge at speed, they want to suck mugs into buying their sales fraud.

Not cool, run it the way most people do, and you will be getting towed in after about 20 miles, when the batteries are flat.

Meh, range is pathetic for a $320,000 boat. In 20 years, this boat will just be the same as an 80s Walkman tape player

A hydro foil added would really extend the range, minimum drag at faster speed

Nice, expensive but nice! Makes the new Mercs sound loud LOL If any of the XShore folks are reading this, how about an option to put solar panels on that hard top to extend your range? It looks like it will take at least 2 standard panels.

Thank you Pontus. I will start this off. EV OEMs have varied battery warranties - but all have one. We are sensitive to the cost of replacement and know it will eventually be required by nature of time (or worst-case, some form of damage). These car batteries are also much lower capacity than 120kWh. What is the XShore battery warranty? What specifically would be the degradation required to receive coverage? For auto EVs here we might see (for example) warranty covering the free replacement of a battery if capacity falls below X% of original capacity by the end of the warranty period. I would imagine your batteries are simpler to replace as they are not tightly integrated with a "chassis" as found in EV passenger automobiles. Nevertheless, your batteries are large and for safety should be replaced and tested by trained technicians. So I assume it would not be inexpensive out of warranty period. I'm sure many here would be interested in this info. Thanks.

Why were they lying in the video, about the speed limit? What is wrong with the boat, that it can't travel at maximum speed for long, excessive battery drain, overheating problems? There was a big deal made over the small battery drain, so the low speed was most likely to not show how using a normal speed, drains the batteries fast, this being false representation of the product.
@jack-vn2it3 жыл бұрын
11:34 you can go fast in that area there is no wake zone nor a speed limit also why not mention why there is a squared off bow I’m curious what is that good for it’s not good for aerodynamics nor good for handling waves so what is it for? Also 100 miles at 5 miles an hour it’s awful. I also hear these boats are very pricey so what is this boat good for?

Was that a 2-stroke? There is no reason for that to be an issue with a properly maintained modern 4-stroke engine.
