@@carlos.daniel.santmaria5477 They need to drop "Chaff", which are clouds made of thin pieces of metal that distort the reflection of the radar signal and might redirect the missile in a different direction.

I remember playing VTOL VR and I was dodging a heat seeker, I flew behind a hill and the warning went away. I kid you not, as I look to my right to confirm his radar won’t track me and he doesn’t have visual I imidiately notice a familiar huge steel rod with fins 5 meters away from my cockpit. Friendly reminder that this tactic of flying low to avoid radar doesn’t actually work irl and hasn’t for quite a while

Flying low alone shouldn't avoid radar. However, there are 2 ways (I think) to avoid radar when flying low: - Being behind terrain. Radar's can't see through mountains. - Being at 0 speed by flying perfectly sideways to the radar while terrain is in the background (like a mountain). (not sure about the effectiveness of this one in reality). However, all this gets thrown out the window when there are multiple radars from different directions communicating your position. So I'm not really sure if any of this would be effective at all in reality.

@@KillFrenzy96 while the flying low doesnt really work, it works on radar guided missles pretty well, though for the flying sideways it works for doppler radars only as i remember, and you also can fly sideways to the radar missle and deploy chaff (a countermeasure against radar missles) to hopefully make the missle lose track of you and take out the enemy.

You know, watching dog fights like this and in real life examples really makes me think about how aquatic hunters operate. Dolphins for example have been seen hugging the bottom waiting to ambush sharks above them. They attack the liver and kideys with blunt force. Its friggin cool to see aircraft hunt larger crazy from below.

Its rarely successful IRL. if those radars and awacs had human operators they would have seen the su27 and warned the f15s That being said there have been some instances of this working like when Iran destroyed Iraqs air force on the ground in 1981 by flying under the radar through Iraq. They were actually seen a few times by radar while doing it but the operators didn't realize what they were looking at H-3 airstrike 1981 crazy read
