Had the opportunity to meet Jon Irabagon a few weeks back. He’s a fantastic player, amazing speaker, and one of the most humble jazz players I’ve met. Hoping to hear something like this again!

Bring me back to twenties.

Well, I think the name here's referring to the massive racial inequality that all the African-American jazz musicians suffered at the time even as they were being elevated to an unparalleled level of celebrity. That and the huge wealth gap that existed in the twenties behind the "Gilded Age" facade. So not everything about the twenties was great I guess.

Actually, if you watch the whole uncut video, Victor explains that this piece represented presidents Woodrow Wilson and Warren G. Harding and how they were so different as leaders. While straining to have a conversation, Harding said that he would like to have a pet elephant and Wilson responds that he hopes the elephant isn't white (whatever that means). I think the elephant in the room refers to the obvious dissonance between the two leaders (despite them trying to have a nice conversation) as well as to the aforementioned elephant.

Great example of connecting the notes from one intrument to the next; the flow is beautiful, harmonious and perfectly executed. fun episode where counter point was made fun with; the improvisation was more real and fun for me too. Most of the song only two players at a time, the drummer and another, except the pick up and chorus. With the two players, the next instrument coming in had to pick up and go for it. Awesome fun performance!! Thank you!!! Joanne Thomas
