This beautiful family adores each other so much & as far as Khanyisa goes she’s always shadowed protectively by someone especially the most dedicated big sister Kumbura.🥹🩷🐘Their bond is so precious & I fully believe Kumbura considers it her purpose to look after the little ones she’ll make an exceptional mother one day .🫶🫶

Every time I see Khanyisa, I am amazed at how beautiful she has become. You ALL brought her back from her tragic beginning into this beautiful animal God meant for her to be. She is "the queen of the herd" as she struts and prissies her way in and out of the herd. Beautiful work you have done with one of the most beautiful animals on earth. Adine, you are truly amazing. And carers, you ALL are rock stars! Thank you all for the love and care you give to these animals. I dreaded most of my jobs after six months. I have to believe you all love what you do and enjoy each and every day. ❤❤❤

I love this HERD. You can see how much they love and protect each other. Timisa walking under Zindoga and Zindoga calmly putting his trunk over her. Kumbura always watching over Khanyisa and Timisa. Then Khanyisa walks and you see the older ones (I think Matriarch Tokwe and Limpopo) circle her to make sure she and the young ones are protected. Mighty Sebakwe checking and making sure the surrounding area is safe. Their love for each other is just so incredibly beautiful to see. ❤️

How interesting to see their reactions as to a few wks ago when they came up to dam on same side as Rhino. That they are turning their backs too. But the obvious tightness of the HERD is really something to see. The older ones protecting the younguns just fabulous to see. Ahh Adine you need to teach them to stay 😂😂, they are sure clued into you for sure! Lol😂 Khanyisa thought you were calling her with a different name or was it how dare you go calling a stranger? And you know just how to far to let him go before running for the hills! jajaja! He's a good guy and I loved how sweet and beautiful Timisa💞showed him some sisterly affection while his trunk was turned towards you! Your coyness is a lovely part of your personality, Pisa! And you're also a little mini-Mum Tokwe in your own right. Good on Sebakwe for standing his ground and chasing away the rhino, but something else stirred the HERD up. What a adventure! Sebakwe once again using his authority over his herd to shush away the intruder! Lundi and Somophane showing their fearlessness..Zindoga keeping watch over the little ones..and definate un-ease in the herd! I didnt see Fish or Tokwe, Bubi, Jabu or Limpopo...maybe closing in from the rear? They all seem a bit dumbfounded when Adine calls out to Gertjie...so they follow her! Beyond stellar!! Hated to see this end, so watched several more times! Picking up more interaction between them all...This herd (human and ellie alike) never stop amazing me! Wonder if they settled down and went swimming...Huge thanks to Herd for sharing this incredible adventure! Really defines the roles that each play in this precious family ♥♥♥♥

So nice to be surrounded by your friends. I love seeing the Carers and Adine with the elephants and love the calling out to them. It reminds me of our hikes when I was a child...big adventures into the wild 😄 We loved every minute of walking through the brush and cornfields...never knowing what awaited us in the clearing. Just like the rhino at the waterhole. Big excitement!

WOW!! I absolutely love how just I tuned these elephants are with what’s going on around them. I also loved how they were absolutely adamant of not going towards the water and not getting in it either.👍🏻😊🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘❤️. I just admire their intelligence in knowing right away to not go near the water and not to even go in it either. This was an awesome and great learning experience for me to see how wonderfully these elephants use all of their senses and so quickly too. It’s like when we humans have a bad feeling about something or even someone the elephants are the same way. Kudos to the Herd and also for keeping close to the youngsters too and definitely putting their safety first too. All the elephants seemed a bit out of sorts today. They couldn't settle down and, I think, this is the first time I haven't seen them enthusiastic about going in the water. One Rhino caused all this? Interesting.

Always a Pleasure to observe the HERD E. group. Here approaching the water hole and being(as a group) unsure of the safety of the situation. Watching the V in it's entirety, I sense @ end ,a great reluctance to decouple themselves (as a group) from Shielding Khanysia from sensed danger. There are about 10 mid adult and adults standing in a group around her at the V. segment end. Thank You for posting.

This time we saw them react without seeing the reason for their actions. In these times whereby they know somehing is up that is not physically seen they are using their sense of smell or hearing vibrations that humans cannot comprehend and we do well to watch them and wait for their signal that all is well.

Yuck! Yes in the hot months I bet it might be tempting for a brief second, until I remembered all the Elephant and other wildlife’s dung and pee. And I’mpretty sure the waterholes are stagnant pools of water, there’s not any fresh water flowing into the hole or draining out of the hole . Not for me! 😂
