The “ Eli Drill” needs to be a new standard practice….start at ten yards, practice until you find a distance that you cannot keep fifty percent fatal hits, then practice until you can, then add ten yards , rinse and repeat.
@jimmytehgeek2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you need to build on SOME success to develop a skill. I'd even say bring it in closer to start unless your groups are playing card size. (Mine are not at 25 yards) Also, up close the USPSA competitors have different standards for quality of sight picture. All they need is somewhere in the A-Zone and they don't have to take any more time than it takes to get that. They shoot a little differently when they have to go long.

Therefore, I got it correct, because I got it from the police chief himself in the press conference they had the next day. So unless you watched that press conference, don't tell me what I got wrong, because I heard him say it. I even went back to especially listen to that part again. Of course, I never stated that there was a crime committed by Mr. Dickens. I am just pointing out that they did put him in handcuffs. Because again the police chief is the one who made that statement. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that it is very likely they took his gun for evidence. Not that I agree with it. Yet it sure seems the likelyhood is high that this happened. Go listen to the police chief answer the reporters question at 22:21 in the video of the press conference the next day. He states that Mr. Dickens was handcuffed and his weapon was taken from him. Never says that after the cops viewed the surveillance footage, and confirmed Mr. Dickens story they ever returned Mr Dickens gun to him...

For you to see fit the purpose of this drill means you have tenacity to admit you're wrong and can always do better. Having an ego in serious situations will get you killed.. complacency kills well so does ego. I hope you train officers with this and add in malfunctions as I've seen many times in police videos where they're taking contact and as they shoot they hit the mag release and drop it. The hesitation that happens before you grab n load a new mag almost gets them killed. Awesome work man really appreciate your videos and inputs.

Finally somebody who does a shooting video that actually knows how to shoot. The Eli and counter or the Dickens drill I don't care how you say it that's a lot of work to get that one down. I always used to practice at 50 yards with my J frame Smith and 100 yards with my 4 in 357 Ruger. Both of them would do a 4-inch group, the one at 50 yards and the other one at 100 yards on double action consistently. Have not practiced those drills and sometime, maybe I'll have to go back to them. About your equipment, I have never been a fan of the SIG, there are several design flaws and the 220 series of the firearm, that actually were disabling people just trying to load the gun period if you don't know about it you were either misinformed uninformed or you haven't been paying attention. The 320 first of all is a striker fire gun and I've never found one with a decent trigger that hasn't had to have considerable work on it and at least an aluminum trigger put on it and I still do not understand what the lever in the middle of the trigger for it does not function as a safety of any kind it's just a lever on the trigger. Get it the hell out of the way. If you were to convert to a hammer-fire gun much like a CZ I bet your ability to perform that drill would increase substantially, Not only would you have a much better trigger pull. You can carry those guns cocked and locked, you can carry it at half cock and lock giving you a much shorter double action trigger pull or double action first shot. And until a holographic sight become standard issue on defensive firearms, which I do not foresee that happening considering they need a battery and batteries are very good at not functioning when you need them. Do all your shooting with the iron sights. You never know when you might have to use somebody else's gun or even a battle pickup. I will still depend on my hard Chrome Argentine military b35 that is the most accurate 9mm I have ever seen. My father first purchased it back in about 1979 or 80 and it puts ball ammo into a single hole at 25 ft. I have never seen another 9mm do that.

What everyone is also forgetting is Eli was definitely being shot back at and still to land 8 shots is incredible
@carfvallrightsreservedwith66492 жыл бұрын
Where you getting that info from? Cite source! I personally do not believe what you are spouting. 15 seconds (once engaged) for the shooter to stop his assault, locate & identify his adversary, return fire, and flee back to the restroom?! If what you're spewing...,that the shooter was a moving target and returning fire means that the shooter had to locate and engage Eli WHILE he decided to return to the bathroom? NO.,The piece of sh*t was returning to the last place he felt secure but because of the wounds he had received his blood pressure fell below physiological capabilities to continue functioning and he collapsed. I say good-bye POS.
@ImperiumLibertas2 жыл бұрын
@@carfvallrightsreservedwith6649 it was unlikely Eli was shot at. The shooter would have been deaf from his rifle fire. Being deaf plus tunnel vision from the stress would make it almost impossible to know where he was being shot from. With that said it is odd that the shooter didn't move much while being shot. There is no way the shooter was making large lateral movements since that would have caused Eli to miss more than he did. I wonder if the engagement started closer and finished at 40 yards where the shooter collapsed outside the bathrooms. We won't know until the police report comes out. This is one I'm interested in reading the details.

You mean the first officers that took fire trying to get a locked door open and didn't return fire because they couldn't see their target through a solid door? You rather they ignore basic gun safety and shot blindly into a room full of kids with one perp?

@@brandonmcdaniel6727 I Thought they said during the Investigation that the doors didn't lock from the inside, but from the outside with a key?

@@brandonmcdaniel6727 if you watch Glovers other video breaking down the event, the ending AAR shows that none of the officers ever even touched the door. Not only that, but the shooter is still shooting. Gtf in there and try to end it. The idea that, I don't want kids to get shot by me so I will wait for the shooter to possibly do it, just isn't good enough. These people are the ones society has collectively decided need to carry guns because they're meant to jump into these experiences so we don't have to. Going in is SOP because this is what happens when you dont.
@brandonmcdaniel67272 жыл бұрын
@@MrOakcock that would defeat the whole purpose of a lock down and staying in rooms...most schools that utilize A.L.I.C.E. training lock doors and utilize jam locks. There is footage of them trying to unlock rooms with keys that had kids inside. There is also bodycam of the first responding officers specifically saying they got to the door and couldn't get it open and the perp fired a handful of rounds through the door at them. He then didn't fire another shot for 48 minutes where there were 4 recorded shots then no more until final breach was made. As for SOP for active shooter it's to immediately engage to distract, isolate, OR neutralize the target to stop the ACTIVE shooting or intent to harm. I'm fairly certain it wouldn't be constitutional to tell anyone that they ARE to kill someone. They had him trapped in a blind room that they couldn't easily force (outward opening solid door on steel frame with covered window) and shooting had ceased initially except specifically at the officers. You can hear on a few different body cams the officers calling out that he was isolated to a single room on the west building. The mental shift to negotiating with a barricaded subject possibly with hostages was not hard to see. Now the lack of urgency of effecting a breach after the info did come out that survivors and wounded were in the room around 30 mins in is ridiculous.
