Excellent interview. Dan is awesome! I subscribe to his channel and he mentioned being a guest on your channel. Will check out other videos here too. Have a great weekend!

Dan Murrell is one of the most knowledgeable people with regards to the film and television industry. I can’t recommend it enough that people go and subscribe to his channel. I trust him more than most KZbinrs these days, because he says it for what it is and he doesn’t grift.
@bajaro3455Ай бұрын
Well said. Ironically I use to "hate" on Screen Junkies in their early days. I liked Dan, but didnt "love" the rest. Now I realize just how much I miss those days along with Collider and other outlets. Once they fell off it opened the door for a bunch of grifters on youtube to step in. Gotta support the ones who still put out good content.
@OrionInSpaceАй бұрын
@@bajaro3455 couldn’t agree more with what you said at least back in the day these outlets had integrity but now you just get your run-of-the-mill copycat grifter KZbinr, who just makes stuff up and engagement baits you off your rage.

Talk about nostalgia, I still remember being 17 years old and in high school when Movie Fights started (now I'm 27 and married). And I'd watch it every weekend or even binge them when I missed a few😭. I hope Screen Junkies or even Reel Rejects can actually bring that back one day.

The Sixth Sense twist worked so well because it was a twist that came with a heavy wave of emotion. When the film cut to the aftermath of him being shot, and actually dying, it's a real gut punch.

@dajthis6911 күн бұрын
For context, I was born in 1971. Ebert was my movie reviewer go-to in the 80s and 90s. I agreed with him most of the time, but we certainly parted ways on some things (and I found him super annoying most of the time, but still respected him all of the time). Regardless, after years of paying attention to him, I knew where he was coming from, so eventually I definitely knew if I would like a movie based on his review, regardless of whether he and I saw eye to eye on it. Since Ebert passed, I've been looking for someone to fill that void and after many years I realize that Dan definitely has now filled that role for me. He is such a real, genuine person on camera. I know none of us can ever 100% know the real Dan, but in an age where so much of our reality seems contrived, Dan is for me a comforting and real touchstone. This post may be a bit maudlin. Sorry. But it really was just today (and after watching this video), after about a decade of being aware of who Dan is, that I realized that he is my Ebert.

I think my favorite question you asked this episode that you should continue to ask moving forward for future guests... because of the nature of what you do... was "If you had a camera pointed towards you for a movie reaction, what movie that you watched for the first time would be the one that would have been the best for a movie reaction from you?" I LOVED that question! It should be a staple for future guests!

20:02 what he’s talking about right here is literally the reason I fell in love with reaction channels. I’m not a big on rewatching movies, very few on the list that I will ALWAYS rewatch. But when I discovered that I could rewatch films with people who either hadn’t seen them, or had seen them and loved them, it created an entirely different and dynamic experience. So thank you to Greg and all the others out there who have made this a thing. I’ve watched and rewatched movies that might not have happened without channels like these. 🫶🏻
