Jin co wrote Awake but RM said in a vlive when talking about the wings album he said after they finished writting this song he realized the lyrics were actually what Jin was really feeling at that time. I call awake the part 1 of Epiphany because he thought he was not good enough that he was not naturally talented like the other members that he had to work extra hard. Which is what Jin still does work hard because the members are always praising him for it.The 6 rose petals are the other members. Jin once said the concept that BTS had in the beginning was not really him it was only when they released Fire that he became the person he really was that was kind of his turning point. Jin has this incredible way of touching your soul when he sing there is so much passion and dedication in that man. Sorry for this long comment. As always I love and appreciate your reactions

Small explanation: To call someone a flower is one of the highest compliments you can give to a person in Korea. So in Jin's eyes, his 6 flowers (the other 6 members of the group) have wings that allow them to fly and touch the sky. He is not quite there yet (at that moment in time) so he's going to be walking because that's all he can do (in his perspective. As you said, it is a song about his confidence level in his abilities). He is scared and he is feeling a little desolate but he is not giving up. He is going to push himself and try as hard as he can. You are not wrong about how Jin's songs make you feel. Many have expressed a similar feeling. Perhaps its his maturity level. But his solo songs are very cathartic. He says the things we are all afraid to voice to ourselves. In direct contrast to his extremely bright persona, his solo songs always express the parts of him he chooses to hide from us (Army) because he doesn't want us to see that side of him. But he believes it's ok to show that through music. You still have Begin (JK), MAMA (Jhope), First Love (Suga) and Reflection (RM) left from this album. Begin is lovely and written by JK to show his appreciation for his hyungs. For the other 3, I would say, mentally prepare yourself. They are tear jerkers.

Every Jin solo songs lyrics have deep meanings and discuss *important issues* His discography resonate with me the most as well as his personality In the chronological order : *_Awake_* (not being *confident* in yourself and your value) *_Epiphany_* (learning to love *yourself* first before loving others) *_Tonight_* (fear of *losing* those who mean *the most* to you) *_Moon_* (Finding *strenght* in those who support you *regardless of your opinion* on yourself) *_Abyss_* (After his *burn out* : Giving yourself permission *to be broken* , not wanting to run away from your darkness but wanting to *build a relationship* with yourself) They have such different meanings and colours but they all portray what seokjin is *feeling in that moment in his life* How seokjin uses music as a message amazes me. Not only it is meant for the public but also for *himself* like a therapy We never really knew the exact message behind *Awake* but we can assume Jin is trying to *comfort himself* saying (back in the days) he can not *himself fly* but is glad the other members can (humbleness). It’s like seeing someone succeeding better than you even though you try your best, but instead of being jealous, you’re just truly happy for them. Awake is the *only song of the album* and *1st BTS song ever* to trend #1 on Billboard realtime trending as soon as it's released & played on an american radio He also has other songs/covers but one thing at a time lol He's much more confident now, but you can still see that sometimes As Seokjin said himself, until their song *_Fire_* (album just after *WINGS* in which is Awake), he was asked by his company to fake a cold and mysterious personality (often asked by K-company to idols) which didn't suit him He said it made him less confident about his true personality until *_Fire_* when he was finaly able to show his true self So Awake is letting us know he leaves this behind him Live performance kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGq1Z4Kers53jbM Seokjin has said multiple times he voices *through music* his issues in order to not show them in front of the *camera* He also explained he'd feel *sorry* for ARMYs if we knew his difficulties so he only want to show his *good and bright side* Also, don't be fooled ! Because Jin excels in conveying his emotions through ballads doesn't mean he doesn't slay other genre (bts is full of versatility and so is he !) Jin's music is my favourite because he could express emotions that you feel but cannot express. I truly related to all of his songs I have heard so far because at some point in life I have felt these emotions but they never come out.

Thank you for your sincere and deep reaction to Jin's song. I really love Jin's voice. I love many parts sung by Jin, but especially this song makes my heart so deep in emotion. I really love the moment when this song was being performed at concert, where he sings the pain that he can't fly, the big wings wide open behind him. It feels like showing 'while you are struggling, you may be already flying.' Very symbolic.

Jin once has little confidence for his voice n dance. Since he begin to sing n dance from zero. He just start take sing n dance lesson when they are trainee, before, jin only focused to become an actor. Back then, Jin always belittle n doubted himself that he still far away compared with other 6 members skill in sing, dance, rapping, producer, composer n lyricist. So he pushed himself constantly to be better so hard so he didnt left out. Thanks god, nowadays Jin confidence on himself is growth a lot as his skill in singing n dancing is improve so much. He also joined more to contribute for writing, compose n produce a song.

I agree, their lyrics are amazing and a big part of the attraction. I haven't heard any other group where the lyrics made me think like theirs. You should try some of the songs that "require" explanation videos, like Baepsae and Spring Day! They really show their lyrical depth and courage.

I also appreciate your comments at the end about BTS. Everything you said was spot on. It's just amazing how these 7 talented young men touched so many people's lives with their music. This song got me through one of the lowest moments of my life so I listen to it every day. In fact I listen to all his songs every day because I love his voice. In this one and Abyss there’s so much emotion that at first I wasn’t sure if I was crying for him or myself! Then you have what I think of as the opposite, Moon which is like a warm hug and I feel better. And of course Epiphany which is the chef’s kiss. Anyway, thank you for this great reaction again. The more I learn and hear about Jin, the more I just love him. I'm not saying that this is what this song is about but something I sometimes think about is, up until Dec 2020, Jin thought he was leaving the band to serve his military service of 18 months. I'm sure someone could correct me, but the government only changed the rules at the last minute (Dec) and told BTS they have until they are 30yo, instead of 28yo to put in their time. Jin will turn 30 first. Altho I totally believe in their positive futures no matter what happens, I think they're keenly aware this particular future might not go on and on.
