Learn from Legends: www.legendarystriking.com
In Thailand, the media named Namsaknoi as the Emperor for his 6 year reign as the Lumpinee Stadium champion. With 285 wins and 15 losses, he has one of the highest win ratio in the history of Muay thai at 95%, and during his time, he was the youngest fighter to achieve fighter the year awards. On his resume of wins is a who's who list of legends.
Coming from the Por Pramuk camp, he experienced the same tragedy as his camp junior, Buakaw Banchamek. Left without his fight purses and many options, he was eventually recruited by the prestigious Evolve MMA to work as the head Muay Thai coach.
In this video, you get to tap into the mind of one of the greatest fighters in combat sports history. This is the story of Namsaknoi.

How can one dude be scarier than buakaw? Like, no offense. Buakaw is awesome, but this dude literally outplayed legends in his time like THE thongchai and THE saenchai! That's not just an ordinary feat. What a monster.

he is an impressive personality and is very cordial! I recommend you if you have the opportunity to visit his gym then do it, i was at his place about 1.5 years ago, and it was by far the best training i have ever had, and i look back on about 10 years of training. It was a great honor for me to be trained by him and his exceptionally strong coaching team.

Watching him fight with Satoshi, I like him very much. He's a very intelligent fighter. In addition to his great style of fighting his English is also quite good. Now that he's become a trainer, I think he'll be the best to teach Muay Thai to foreigners who are interested in learning it.

If you don't know exactly how talented Namsaknoi was. This will prove he had endured a lot for his Muaythai career. >> Saenchai has 86.81% win percentage (349 fights and 303 wins) >> Buakaw has 86.90% (275 fights and 239 wins) >> Rodtang has 83.69% (319 fights and 267 wins) >> Namsaknoi has 93.33%!! (300 fights and 280 wins!!) Such a great and underrated fighter. His nickname is 'The Emperor'

And good job, law with building context with adding in who these guys were that nam took on. I realize to the naked eye just seeing another Thai name and fighter having a close match with a fighter were focused on isn't nearly enough to truly exemplify why the person we're studying is so great nor does it put anything in perspective until we are filled in with the context and background for the fight. Then the already-amazing things these guys are pulling off are that much more amazing to realize and witness.

Lawrence, will taking time out to focus on boxing help me with my Muay Thai or will it create bad habits? My coach wasn't too big on bobbing, weaving, and too much footwork movement because there's elbows and kicks that you have to worry about. However, being the shortest guy (most of the time) in the gym, I feel that the slick defense and footwork that boxers have can help me. Examples I see of slick head movement are Buakaw, Giorgio, Samart, and Simon Marcus. I guess also the Glory rules could also contribute to them adapting some boxing techniques. What are you're thoughts on this? Could you also post a video on this. Thanks in advance!
@LawrenceKenshin
@LawrenceKenshin 7 жыл бұрын
It's not black and white! Boxing will 100% help but you need to eliminate what will work for you well and what won't. A lot of the defences are seen as no good because good Muay Thai fights have kicks and knees coming so fast that the advantages of certain defences will overweigh the disadvantages. But yes, of course if well trained enough, and knowing when to use certain things, will get the desired results. All of the guys you mentioned are MT guys that did a lot of boxing training.

Hey lawrence you seem to be well informed about MT history and just had one question, I cant seem to find an answer to this very interesting question and if anyone can give me an answer it's you so, has namsaknoi and samkor ever met in the ring? If so who won and can you do a video on it? The reason I ask is that they're both great fighters (nam better in my opinion) and watching your videos I noticed they both fought satoshi so both must have been active around the same time and pushing for lumpinee so have they ever collided?

Employer / employee relations have always been a struggle in every country. In less developed countries there is less things protecting workers. This unfortunately leaves a lot of room for exploitation, as you can see two of the biggest superstars in the history of Muay Thai were very mistreated.
