How great would it have been, if kylo rens actual story was him slowly going crazy over the voices and constant dark influence from the emperor. He literally can’t trust anyone because as far as he knows everybody is lying and everybody’s awful. He questions who he is and where he fits, all while being steered by palpatine from the shadows. This is also a great parallel to Rey, who is trying to find out who she is and who/where her parents are. They’d both be stories of finding one’s identity, only one gives in to the uncertainty and goes mad while the other accepts their role is for them to forge and moves forward. It would’ve been great.

Yup, would've been awesome to see that Kylo wasn't talking to his grandfather at all but Palpatine subtly manipulating him throughout the trilogy all with the ultimate goal of making him into the perfect vessel to house his spirit or something like that and constantly dropping hints throughout the movies. Like Master Xehanort did with Terra in Birth By Sleep. It would make sense for Palpatine to want to get back at the Skywalkers and what better revenge than to possess the grandson of his former apprentice? I guess you could keep the Rey Palaptine reveal but I'm not a fan of it. I prefer the explanation she was or her parents were students of Luke's Academy and she was left on Jakku to protect her. Would go some way to explaining how she's so crazy strong in the force. But nope, cause that would've been interesting and we can't fucking well have that now can we?
