Greetings from Ohio. My husband found your channel and we both watched every single episode. He passed away in September 2020 from pancreatic cancer. I’m 72 he was 75. I still watch but I don’t feel alone because I know 2 million people are watching with me. Leaving the cabin was so sad but know we all left with you. You will do everything better this time if that’s even possible. You are amazing and a strong worker and determined individual just like my husband was. By the way, my husband built our home in 1978. He had never build a home before but he was determined to build his family of four children our home. We were married 54 years and have eight grandchildren, six boys two girls. They range in age from 25 to 15.

I believe I can speak for many of us when I say this: We follow your journey because it takes us away from the noise and craziness of world and brings us to a place of calm and beauty. There is a sense of isolation and solace and purpose. While the solace has been rudely interrupted, the purpose is still there and the journey will continue. That is the most any of us can ask for in life! Best of luck, friend!

I'm excited for you as well, even though you're moving on from all the hard work, sweat and even blood you put into this homestead. I'm excited for you because you get to take all the knowledge and skills you've gained over the years and apply them to your new homestead and build it exactly how you want it. We don't get that kind of opportunity often, and I'm glad you made the decision you have even though it'll be a lot of work. You needed to make a change and you're brave enough to make that change. There isn't anyone out there that I respect more, Shawn James. Your attitude towards adversity is not to fall into a pit of depression, but to meet life head on and find a good solution to problems, and now you have videos galore of your success at the former cabin, while you build your new homestead. Thank you for showing us all how to not let adversity destroy your inner peace. Love the new cabin site, and what you have made so far. God bless you and keep you healthy and safe.

Oh boy. The music while you were packing the books and hauling the logs and the bridge you made whilst watching you and Cali walk towards the new beginning made me cry. How I loved your sauna and shower and the outdoor kitchen. Phenomenal grill and oven. Guess you’ll transport over what you can and re build in the new area. My husband and I will support and enjoy your new beginnings with your wife, Cali and daughters.

It's like watching you build your first cabin again. You seem to be enjoying this build more than I remember you doing on your other cabin. Are you ? or is this just my heart hoping that you aren't so very disappointed about having to do everything all over again. Love you and Calli I pray all will go well and your beautiful wife and daughters will be able to enjoy this one as you were not able to at the other place. Your new place seems so peaceable. Love to all of you from an old grandma that has always dreamed of doing just what you are doing. God Bless you all from a 79 year old dreamer.

Ever heard of Katimavik - it was a volunteer Canadian youth group. I did Katimavik back in 80-81 and we built a Xcountry ski log cabin near Charlo New Brunswick- I peeled and scribed logs and used a chainsaw ! The Chaisson family was one of the 8 founding families of Prince Edward Island and we were chopping all the wood like you do back in the 17th century! Cheers 🍻 to you for everything you do !

I am actually from Charlo...it was Les adventuriers ski lodge. It still stands today and is used year round. Soldiers from CFB Gagetown built a Bailey Bridge to cross the river just below the dam. Such a beautiful area.

Hi Shawn, I would like to say I feel very proud to have known you over the years , seeing you start out on a new adventure and way of living with wolfs and black bears , it’s been a great insight to living in the wild , watching you build your homestead. When I first seen channel I was still lying in bed with a broken back , your channels each day gave me some thing to look forward to as my back repaired itself along with the hope of walk once more ,. Like myself it’s time to start over , but this time it’s going to be better then the last,we are not broken we are moving on with life’s adventures, I look forward to your next journey and videos , all the best my friend I look forward to seeing your next video, take care out stay safe, keep your dreams to your heart . Kind regards Graham..

I have admired you and your life for years. Your my inspiration for getting out of the city and living my true life I'm a bit lm a bit limited in what I can do as my child is disabled, but she has adapted very well. Although non-verbal, she lights up in nature. We now find our lives changing once again as we also, leave the small town of 2,00 to our final homestead in a community of just 200 like minded people. Another move, another adventure. All because, some of us are made for the homestead life. Your adjusting it seems, and making progress. I always enjoy the adventures of you and Cali. Blessing to your wife and girls as well.

I have had everything in my life stolen from me more than once... even my Children.... And, I have had to walk away and start over many times.... And, it's amazing; that once you make that final release; that complete letting go...Because I believe that you can't achieve the New Beginning if you cling to the old past....And, there is a strength that you aquire that can lift you to a Higher Place in yourself....in your Soul... closer to the Spirit... Where you realize what is really the most valuable Thing is God and You and Those you Love.....And, I am sorry that those who have chosen to remain in their low place; to cause such difficulties in another's life... will only fall lower... If they don't change their minds and start letting go.....That's why Jesus said that the love of mammon/money/stuff... is the root of all evil.... The stuff is dead matter.... There's no Life in it at all.....Seek Life and you shall find it......Like you do.......Shalom.

All you have accomplished in the 4 years I don’t think many people would have done what you have done. That’s a lot of buildings for 1 person to do by themselves. I hope the new owners can appreciate all the work it took to do all that. You are an amazing person with passion for the wilderness and always thinking about the impact you’ll have doing this or that and replanting trees to replace the trees you take down. I thank you for bringing us along and sharing your knowledge and putting out videos on your progress of the new homestead.

I spent the majority of my childhood at my grandparents old, small cottage. Add-on bath and an outside toilet. There came the time after them living in it for over fifty years my gran passed away. I will never forget having to clear it bare on my own, knowing that it was next going to be demolished.
