After seeing “The End” i cried for a full 10-15 minutes… blubbering, snot, spit everything. I watched the first episode of AOT 10 years ago when it first aired in the same room I watched this last episode. I was broken last night. I just couldn’t stop crying because it was over. I read the manga too and when it finished, I always said “it’s alright I have the anime” and now I don’t. It’s over. and it was such a good ending too and even better with what they changed. Thank you Isayama. This was a masterpiece.

I think Mikasa being the one Ymir was looking for is because she was looking for someone who was a slave to love like she used to. Her love which led to disaster and the killing of thousands and thousands of people. Ymir wanted to see if someone could break free of that love. Basically, succeeding where she failed. Again, the search for freedom being the main theme of the show. But, I dont think anyone knows for sur.
@kai8617

Yea I thought the same thing. Mikasa love for Eren was the same love Ymir had for the king, but Ymir couldn't break free even if she knew it would never happen
@handlerone5172
@handlerone5172 7 ай бұрын
Given what we know about both characters and how well they mirror each other, that is the conclusion Isayama is trying to portray most likely. Ymir sought freedom just like Eren, but freedom from her twisted love. Mikasa still loves Eren, but loved him unconditionally. Despite the horrors he committed she was always thinking of him. Yet, she was able to do what needed to be done despite that fact. Eren had gone down a path no-one could follow and MIkasa released him and Ymir from their torment.

Let's admit it, the ending sucked balls. We can respect the journey and legacy, but the ending really sucked balls. The show literally wasted Historia and never explained Ymir's shallow love for King Fritz. The author tried to juxtapose Ymir's love for King Fritz and Mikasa's love for Eren which is a cool idea but it failed pathetically. I had always recommended this show to anybody, but after the ending, I would never even recommend it to my hamster.

People claiming Sasha dying was meaningless shock value adding nothing etc. when she (the reactor and many others) cried at the end seeing Sasha it shows it meant something to the characters and watchers. Eliciting emotions in a watcher or reader of a story is something that’s very important to authors and even if people hate the ending or story or love it, the fact that so many have such strong emotions for it shows that he did a great job. Most people don’t care about something if it’s not done well at all, so it wouldn’t make them so angry about the ending or so happy

What we saw with Mikasa and Eren is the conversation he had with her in the Paths, like the one shown with Armin. He wiped their memories of that conversation until after he was dead. That's why they were suddenly remembering. He also had 1 on 1 conversations with all his friends, and erased their memories of it until "the time comes"
@subratanandy2142
@subratanandy2142 5 ай бұрын
If you've noticed, memory wiping doesn't work well with Ackermanns, that's why Mikasa got her memory back before Eren was killed and even in the previous episodes, she was always going on about something not being their last convo and that something was missing.

@@sashidt As much as I do actually like Eremika, going back in S1 Eren shows more physical affection to Armin as friend at least. There was a scene of him running to hug Armin in S1. He doesn't quite have that energy with Mikasa. He's more reserved (in the case of this episode he was trying to make things easier to part ways with her it seems).
@sashidt
@sashidt 7 ай бұрын
@@raec5426 he literally broke down to armin talking about her wanting her to be with him and only think about him 😂 they have been hinted on since s1 and they also got a whole ending animated about the 2 of them together and were burried next to each other later. Armin and eren got a nice connection but they’re only friends it was never implied to be anything more than that + armin is canonically in love with Annie 😭
@raec5426
@raec5426 7 ай бұрын
@sashidt Uhhh yeah...I know Armin and Eren friends and they have other love interests. I didn't suggest otherwise. I'm just saying for example like the reactor said, just felt like Eren had a deeper connection with Armin since he could be fully vulnerable with him and was more guarded to hold things in around Mikasa. So it just made the Armin/Eren scenes more impactful to show the dynamic between them both. The anime made it seem stronger with them talking about being "together forever". lol

True the entire human race in this story the main marley were the villains which forced eren to become one himself and to end up like this 🥺💔❤✌

Armin wasn’t a villan tf you mean? He just said he felt the same way that everything should be levelled, and that he put the idea of freedom in Eren’s head as kids. He never attempted to actually go through with it or assist Eren, he wanted to stop the rumbling. Eren had no choice at it was Yimir’s actions and his from the future that put him on that path. He was a slave to freedom. It wasn’t Armin being a villain.

With Zeke being killed, Eren didn't had the Founding Titan's power but it seemed that after being blown up by Armin he still retained access to the power but the actual Founding Titan power/curse should had been reborn to Historia's child as it goes to the next Royal bloodline. Since Eren was still actively using it, the curse's potential is still there but not active anymore. The only thing that could re-activate it is the Ackermann's bloodline curse to protect the Royal bloodline. So if Historia&Mikasa/Levy's descendants had children together, that Ackermann curse for the flight or fight to protect the royal bloodline will reactivate the Founding Titan curse.

the ending with the tree is you see Eren's grave gradually sink into the tree where an opening appears that the guy walks in just like the tree Ymir went into - implying that that kid is about to rediscover the power of Titans all those centuries later - quite possibly starting the whole thing over . . . "All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again." Of course Ymir did help build the empire before being used as a weapon to defeat the King's "enemies" . . . perhaps this kid will use the power simply to help rebuild society after it's apparant collapse. Or perhaps he will use it to kill his own enemies, guess it depends on if he's another garden variety idiot or not.

About the manga ending, there was a major difference in the translation. At least the one I read, which honestly made me feel disgusted with a certain character and Isayama for writing it, and almost made me regret even watching the series. But now that I could hear what this character actually said in the anime (and that the official sub matches what I hear them say in Japanese), I feel very relieved. The anime, or should I say the official translation, saved the ending for me.

@celeschan90

@@brankobogado6851 You know when Armin smiled and said "Thank you for showing me the outside of the walls, and this view."? The translation I read said "Thank you for becoming a mass murderer for our sake." This sentence in combination with the stories I heard about Isayama years before the ending, about how he was supposedly sympathetic with a certain real historical genocide, made me feel like I've been watching/reading a person's genocide glorification fantasy all this time. Because there has been a theme of forgiving characters for these things in the story, but it was always painted as a negative since the main characters were against it. Until I read that sentence from Armin. It was as if Isayama could go "mask-off" in the final chapter since it was over anyway. But thankfully this seems to have been just a translator taking some serious liberties with their translation...

@celeschan90 You put so perfectly how I felt about the original ending. The wording and Isayama's past views made it extremely uncomfortable. That one line made the narration by Historia near the end feel pro-fascist, too

@@Habesh778 It wasn't a different ending from the manga. You just wanna excuse jumping on the bandwagon and now you regret it. Also Eren's choices were still his own. Things happened the way they did becouse of his decisions. If Eren had chosen differently, then his visions of the future would've been different too. He could've changed the outcome any moment, but he didn't becouse this was ultimately what he wanted.
