Oscar being more consistent than Lando is not a positive when he is driving slower. The deficit in GP qualifying is 21:3 ! Oscar has raced in 59 races including Sprints. That is one short of the first three seasons that Lando did. The increase in number of races has meant they Oscar has already virtually done his three seasons. What you see is what you get. Oscar is a great driver He is settling in to being a great backup to Lando just like Carlos is to Charles. I think he realises that. It isnt just tyre management that Lando excels. He is simply on a different level speed wise. 8 poles speaks volumes. That drive by Lando last weekend under immense pressure when it was all on him was masterful. Cool, calm and delivered and made a statement to all that Lando is right up their with Max and Charles. There is no number one or two at Mclaren but Lando is clearly the team leader and paid accordingly. One of the most respected F1 and racing periodicals who also report on You tube said they cannot understand the ridiculous hype around Oscar. I think it is now subsiding and reality is setting in. He is a great driver but reality of where he sits is now clear.

There is a weird paradox surrounding the opinions of Oscar. People criticize Lando for not maximizing every opportunity and therefore they believe Oscar is better than him. But if Lando hasn’t delivered, what happened to Oscar? “Lando finished P2 in the fastest car” Well Oscar finished P4 and he only had 2 more points than Sainz who missed a race. In the same car he lost qualifying 20-4 to Lando and in most races, Lando is quicker. Oscar is more brave with his overtakes which gets rightful attention but his pace is noticeably behind Lando’s. I don’t mean to pile on but if McLaren lost, Lando would have shouldered the blame and Oscar, who performed worse would have been shielded from criticism and even promoted as being better than Lando

12:40 Drivers will be classified if they completed 90% of the race distence. If they take the finish flag with less than that distence, there'll be "classified" as a No Classified finish
