Parasocial relationships are a strange thing. I've never met you or even spoken to you, but after so many years of watching your videos I'm sure that - like so many others - I will feel a little melancholy when this video goes live and I hear the final "Soar high, pokemon masters!" And yet, having received those words of encouragement from you on so many occasions, how can I not respond in kind? Whatever challenge you take on next, do so with the knowledge that there are SO many people cheering you on. Soar high Toby!

Ngl, you talking about your struggles and how you were so focused on your own work, made me realize thats what Sada and Turo might have felt. They were obsessed and so focused on their work as they felt they werent much without it and when things had to be sacrificed or lost in their life for their work (like their spouse leaving them in a version of the game or not being in Arvens life) they just put in more dedication and burned themselves not seeing the bigger picture and how it was damaging them.Ive seen you ever since I was 14. You were one of my first poketubers i ever saw. I have got to say thank you for everything youve done for this channel and thank you for prioritizing your needs first. Toby, I never realized until watching this compilation that I started following you so early in your KZbin journey. I was there in the first 6-12 months and I would never have guessed how new the channel was because you have always given your all to these videos. Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment while bored at work, comfort while laying sick in bed, and joy when I needed a good laugh from a goofy guy on KZbin. That said as some one 6 years your senior, I understand what turning 30 feels like and trying to see how your life will unfold. Feeling stuck, scared, and most of all burnt out. You started a career and gave more effort to it than most people in their 20s would any other job. You should be proud of yourself and well deserving of some rest. Take your time, do what you need, and most of all always continue soaring so very high.

What a time to be alive. I first started watching your channel around 5th grade and now i’m a senior in high school entering college in a few months. Your theories are some of the best Pokémon theories i’ve watched and don’t think such passion, dedication, and research will go into theories like this anymore; it was an honor being apart of the journey and community, thank you Toby. You’re my childhood and who contributed to me being a Pokémon fan. Change is hard but sometimes change is for the good. I’m glad that after close to a decade of working and growth, you’re taking a break; thank you again Toby; stay safe and best wishes, soar high 🫡❤

Got to know your channel two months ago (so I little bit too late, I might say) and I'm not really such a Pokémon fan nowadays, even though it's a fondly remembered part of my childhood... but all the passion that comes through in your videos is really inspirational. It clearly shows that what you did was about something you absolutely love(d) and is(was) much more than just a videogame brand to you. So while it's kind of sad to get to know your journey just after it's finished, it's moving to see all that you accomplished. And that everything seems to have turned out great for you in the end. Hope you have splendid new chapters in your life, man! And also that you always remain proud of what you did here. Because you really earned it.

I haven’t always been a consistent watcher as I’ve strayed away from from Pokémon, yet still buying the new games but barely playing them, so when I have watched your content it reminds me of how passionate people can be about something they like and that inspires me a lot. The way you hold yourself in videos is an example of how an immense passion for something can bring the best out of someone when done in a healthy way. So I hope you do well in your next journey. If you return that would also be cool, but either way thanks for sharing your story. P.s. I wish could have got a jumper, hopefully I can get the poster bundle tomorrow. Edit: I realized how I said healthy way and how you were leaving to be better so sorry for that mistake.

Sir, it’s a little long. But I promise if you read there’s a lot of heart in it. I started watching your videos thru the Lockstin videos. I had moved half way across the United States from New Jersey to Texas for a girl and her little girl. While up late one night with the little baby I saw my first Alolan Form and thought a trick was being played. Crash cut to me becoming enthralled with the idea of the Alolan region and Alolan forms and becoming such a fan of yours (as well as Lockstin). I’m 35 now, sadly the relationship is over. But I was able to transfer my love of Pokémon onto my daughter. And as I stand at the steps of a possible journey back home to NJ, much like you sir, standing at the steps of the next chapter in your journey - I will never be able to truly thank you (and Lockstin) for reawakening my love of Pokémon, which I now share as a bond with my daughter in what is a difficult time for us. The young Bird Keeper Toby transcended to Pokémon Master status long ago. Thank you, sir. Soar high, Pokémon Master!

I told myself I wouldn't cry, but seeing you nearly do it broke me. We'll miss you, Toby, but I for one an excited for the next chapter in your journey. Pardon me if this is a bit long, but I'm so glad and grateful for what hard work you've put into this channel. Even if it never has another upload, know that I am beyond grateful to you. Although it started shortly after I started college, I found you two years into this journey and I've followed it through to today. I always watched late, but I loved every video and found the Evo tree to be so incredibly fun and brought me back to my childhood love for this franchise. At a time when I was stressed out from work and school, I could always count on you to make me smile. Thank you for being that for so many of us. It saddened me to hear it was getting hard on you to continue this journey, but as Ash would often tell his beloved Pokémon, "take a good long rest". No matter what happens in the future, please take to heart the need for rest we all have, and take a good long one friend. Much love, always.

Well, the stream is over, I’m sick and emotional 😂 I’ve been subscribed to the channel for at least seven years now? I fell out of Pokémon around the time of gen 5 but came back when gen 6 leaks started. I got super into poketubers and Pokémon theories at that time. And then I eventually found Toby and his How Does Evolution Work? video. I love all of his evolution videos, the Halloween videos, the Easter egg videos are probably some of my favorite. I love the hard work that went into Tempest and Team Snooze was so fun. I know all good things eventually come to an end, but some things I just don’t expect or want to end. It seems like I just got here and started watching his channel and now it’s time for Toby to move on. I’ve never been good with endings, even with tv series, or goodbyes so I’m really hoping this is just a “see you later” instead So, see you later, Bird Keeper Toby. Thank you for sharing you love and passion for the series and helping reignite my own. Oh, I even ordered a tree of evolution poster and I really can’t wait for it to travel across the pond and reach me lol It was a fun journey I’m thankful to have been a part of, even if I didn’t comment a lot, though I wish I did now. Good luck on your new journey and I hope it’s as prosperous, even more so than this one. Until you come back here to the channel or somewhere else, or even if you decide not to return to KZbin at all, soar high, Pokémon Master

Thank you for everything over the years Toby! I started watching you in my 2nd year of highschool, and as 2024 comes to a close I'm celebrating my first year after finishing my 4 year college degree. You created content different from anyone else in the scene I was watching at the time. Sure, the let's plays others were doing were cool, but your videos gave me a deeper look into the Pokemon world and I loved diving into all the lore alongside you. From the Tree of Evolution series, to the Calm Mind Podcast, to your coverage of Detective Pikachu (I still feel nostalgic when my Detective Eevee shirt turns up in my wardrobe rotation), to, of course, the theories. Your content has helped pass the time in such a wonderful way, and 2024 won't feel the same without it. But I'm super excited for you to be moving onto the next phase of your life, and I hope that you find so much happiness and joy in wherever life takes you! Soar High, Pokemon Master o7

This goodbye truly means alot to me. I believe I started watching this channel around when Sun and Moon came out in 2016. I was 10 and in 5th grade, so that was pretty much the peak of my interest in Pokémon. I’m 17 now and about to graduate highschool. Looking at your older videos brings back memories of when I didn’t even have a phone, I vividly remember I used to watch your videos on the KZbin app on my TV. My interest in Pokémon has fluctuated over the years so I can’t honestly say that I never stopped watching this channel, but for the past few years I have certainly tuned in. KZbin isn’t a career I am searching for but it is a hobby I have always wanted ever since I was little, and its channels like these that give me hope that I can gain a following simply out of having a passion and talking about the things I love. Youre an inspiration to me and contributed to my childhood. Thank you for sharing your journey and I hope your future is successful (:

My Alolan Exeggutor jumper arrived in time for Christmas and now got my framed Tree of Evolution hanging in my office as I watched as this video premiered. Felt very wistful about it all, even seeing you comment how grateful you were for the community you built in the comments as I watched made me feel quite touched in a way i wasn't expecting. I found BirdKeeperToby through your collaboration with Lockstin on the "This is the end" theories. That grew into finding other poke tubers, listening to podcasts and even subscribing to Falcone during Lockdown and through him I found twitch and that's led to new content for me and now Cuppaphee. My online journey with Pokémon started with you and it is sad that all things come to an end. However, I wish you all the best with whatever you do next and I hope yourself and Phoebe go from strength to strength. One of the great pleasures of being a passenger on the BirdKeeperToby train has been seeing you grow into an amazing person and it shows through the quality of people you gather around you, your charity streams and the good you seem to want to put out into the world. You don't know me and you might never see this comment etc, etc. But I hope you know that with this little corner of the internet, this channel and the hard work that might not always have seemed worth it or that you took great pride in often, you are a beautiful core memory for many people. One day I'll think about the crystal onix or the evolution of Pokémon and I'll think of you and that will make me happy (and I won't be alone in having those moments). That's your greatest achievement in my opinion, BirdKeeperToby was happiness. Soar High Toby

I remember finding this channel right as the sun and moon trailers were coming out. I thought Pokémon was so cool but didn’t own a 3DS so I was searching for channels to talk about this thing I wanted to interact with but didn’t have the means to directly. These videos gave me that, and they also introduced me to so many other creators that I love to death and continue to watch even know that I can interact with the series in my own way. While I don’t typically do Pokémon, KZbinrs like you inspired me to want to do my own content, even if I’m still easing into it, little by little. Thank you, Bird Keeper Toby, for everything that you have done for this community. I wish you the best on what you do in your future. I know that whatever it is, it will be great.

Your amiable personality, and your passion for thinking deeply about the series, have definitely been an encouraging part of my days. While I'm sure we all hope for your return at some point, I just hope you can restore some vim and vigor into your step. First Things First by Stephen Covey might be a good starting point for some literature to point you in the right direction. Good luck and Godspeed in the New Year Toby!

You were always my favourite poketuber, but I’ll confess; I’ve scarcely watched any pokemon related content for a good while now (until I started to watch some of your videos that popped up on my recommended today). After playing Scarlet, a game I was so excited for seeing the trailers, only to be hit with the realisation that it’s graphically inferior to sword and shield and downright buggy, I became disillusioned with the franchise, and with the exception of Go, I haven’t been keeping up with the franchise lately. I know you said something similar in your video from 4 months ago, so honestly I can really sympathise with feeling disillusioned with the current state of the franchise and wanting a break - because that’s exactly what I’ve been doing (still haven’t beat Scarlet). But even from the few videos of yours I watched tonight my interest was hooked. Your content is at a higher quality level than the games themselves, because you care about your fans and know when to take a break - which the pokemon company doesn’t, as I think the main reason for the state of the modern series are these incredibly tight deadlines and constant churning out of content. Anyways, I wish you all the best on whatever you decide to do going forward. I’m probably going to binge a lot of your back catalogue now. Thanks for all the great videos!

Toby, it's been a long ride and I hope that whatever you do in the future you have a great time with it. Best of luck and maybe drop us a line every once in a while. 🙂 Take care.

Soar high, Toby! This video was so nostalgic for someone who's been here pretty much since the beginning. Thank you for having been here for so long. It's brave of you to leave this life you've had for almost a decade on your own terms for the sake of your sanity. Oh, welcome to the 30s, it's a great period. I wish you enjoy every bit of it, as you are leaving the stress carrousel that is content creation.

I have always liked Pokémon ever since I was little playing Pokémon yellow, but fell off after gen 3 because I got older and “I wasn’t a kid anymore” but back in 2018 or 2019 I stumbled onto your channel and it reignited my love for Pokémon again! Seeing someone my age being so passionate about something I truly used to love made me feel like I could still play and enjoy a franchise I long forgot! Because of you I stumbled onto a whole community of KZbin who made pokemon their career and found that this love of Pokémon and games could still be enjoyed to the fullest even at our ages! Thank you for bringing my childhood back to me! Thank you for introducing me to some many others like you to watch and enjoy, I truly wish you the best in your journey and I hope we see you again on YT or somewhere else!

I already poured my heart out on a previous video, but still, thanks for all these years of great content. You’re the one that really got me interested in the story and lore of Pokémon, and introduced me to the concept of poketubers in general. For that, I cannot thank you enough. It’s given me more than enough good times alone and with friends. I’m sad it’s over, but at least the ride was fun while it lasted. Best of luck in your future, Toby.

Hey, I'm just happy to have been along for the ride. I've been around since about 2015-2016 or so. You've been a huge inspiration and whatever you decide to do in the future, the whole community You've built will support you. But if I may say, the mention of you possibly making DnD content in the future got me a little excited.

I've been a fan for almost the entire journey, and while I haven't watched everything, I have absolutely loved everything I have watched. The Halloween specials, Tree of Evolution, and Tempest videos are my favorites, and I enjoyed writing the "Trainer Notes" I did for Tempest that outlined my own journey through the region. It may make me sad to see you go, Toby, but to put it in bird-based language, everyone takes their permanent flight from the nest at some point. May all your endeavors be as wonderful and successful as your time here. Though we've never interacted on any level beyond comments here on youtube, I still feel honored to call you my friend. Soar high, my friend.

Toby, as you embark on this next chapter in your life, know that you are appreciated not only for your great work but for who you are. Know that all of these beautiful comments and their praises are for Toby (even without the Bird Keeper). This channel and this project wouldn't be the same without your unique passion and good nature behind it. Remember that even if you are no longer "Bird Keeper" Toby, you are still the creative, one-of-a-kind soul who made it happen and that you carry those positive aspects within to wherever you go next. I thank you for sharing a part of yourself with the world. You have touched so many lives. Soar high!

Thank you so, so, so much Toby for everything you have done and shown us on your KZbin Channel. I can say without a doubt you are/were one of my favorite KZbinrs/Poketubers I have ever watched. I have loved pretty much everything you have done with your content and channel (Pokemon Tempest being my favorite series from you!). It's quite sad to see you go after an amazing 10 years but I can understand and fully respect your decision as to why(I believe I started watching you around Sword and Shield or maybe a tiny bit before I can't exactly remember unfortunately). I do hope that you will come back somehow, someday but only if it's something that you wish to do in the future. It's a sad and scary thought that one of the people that I love watching the most may or may not ever do KZbin again but I respect your choice. Even though I watch other Poketubers as well, not many of them can make me feel love for Pokemon the way that you have, Toby. You are definitely an important member of the Pokemon Community and you are such an amazing, kind, and gentle soul. I will definitely follow Cuppa Phee and watch her content whenever the time comes(because I have a list of KZbinrs I watch in a certain order because I watch alot of KZbinrs haha). I'm getting emotional just typing this and thinking about the future. If this happens to be "Soar High Pokemon Masters!" for the last time, then I just wanted to let you know that it was an honor to have been able to see your content that I have watched. You are definitely a blessing in disguise whose content has always made me excited for Pokemon or made me feel better during bad days. You are such an awesome, amazing, wonderful, brilliant, and caring person as well as someone that should be admired. I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do next. Soar High Toby and no matter what...... you'll always be our Bird Keeper🦉.

Toby, your videos have meant SO MUCH to me over the years. I will always cherish the memories you have created for me and all the times I would replay Pokemon games with a different perspective because of your videos. I even purchased some Pokemon cards from you a few years back. Watching this video is heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. Honestly, I friggin love ya, bro. I don't think I would be the same person I am today without the countless hours of entertainment and education that your videos provided. Thanks a million, Toby. I wish you the utmost success in the next chapter of your life. xo

I'm gonna miss your video uploads Toby. I first discovered your KZbin channel back in 2016 - 2018 when I was new to the Pokemon KZbin community and I still remember most of your videos you shared (I never got the chance to watch them all as most of them were about new games with major spoilers etc) and it's nice knowing you virtually. Will keep in touch on Discord if I have the time to say hello!

I've watched your videos for years, but only recently realised I hadn't been subscribed! Pokemon theories / lore have always been my favourite content to watch and I feel like you are one of the most genuine creators out there, with your content feeling like waffling with a friend about random Pokemon stuff. I truly wish you the best of luck with all future endeavours Toby, and if you do decide to come back, I will be there for your return :)

I'm about a year older than you and have been watching since around 2016, and I have to say I think you're the most hardworking Pokemon KZbinr I can think of. You're basically the only one I still keep up with (besides JWittz who doesn't upload much anymore), and in my opinion you've definitely earned the top spot on KZbin when it comes to real, in-depth Pokemon content. Thanks for all the years of entertainment. Wish you and Phoebe the best.

I know I’m really late… I just want you to know that your videos have had a huge impact on the course of my life. I was in high school when you did your “pokemon tree of life” and was coming up on that point where I needed a direction in life. Your tree of life videos got me thinking about paleontology again, and helped me realize that my interest in creatures and how they live in their world has been a part of most of my interests in my life. I would watch your videos, think about what you got right and how I would’ve constructed the tree differently… and it made me realize that I wanted to study biology. Since then, I’ve gotten a bachelors in biology, been to every zoo I can, learned way too much about animals’ mating habits, flown across the country to excavate phytosaur fossils and prep them in a museum’s lab… and I truly don’t know if I would’ve done any of that if your videos hadn’t pointed me in this direction. Thank you for giving me the life I have now; whatever’s next for you, I hope you love it!

Whether this be a permanent farewell or a temporary so long, no one can deny what you have given to video game history with your content on this channel. Your love for your content has left an indelible mark which surpasses just the Pokemon community and has lead to more positivity than you will likely ever be aware of. Though I don't comment often, I do watch all of your videos and have been for years. So on behalf of all of the Pokemon Masters who have enjoyed your content, THANK YOU!!! I know you will continue to soar high, buddy!
