As a 49ers fan who watched us draft him back in 2019 - 2020 i watched him climb the depth chart and blossom into the star he is today, I was able to watch him transform into a route running demon with great ball skills. I am a die hard Steeler fan and the simple truth is that we cannot afford him without moving on from really good players and if we pay him we cant afford to pay Pickens when the time comes. This year's draft is a fantastic opportunity to draft a great WR. So as a Niners fan my whole life, ship him for a draft pick/s. Hell Jennings was already starting to emerge, WR don't make the QB is the other way around. Out of the top receivers of All-Time only Rice & Irwin got rings. Moss, Owens, T Hill now, Cris Carter, Megatron & the list goes on never got one because they thought they're better than they actual are. Move on

Personally, the 49ers should trade him get whatever they can because they're going to have to pay their quarterback soon and they're already paying Debo Samuel. I would love to have his talent. I would gladly pay his well-earned future salary requirements. That said, I will never agree with trading away a first round draft pick for a receiver who is going into free agency because you will have to pay for him twice. Receivers, no matter how talented, just aren't worth the cost in cap space AND loss of draft capital. The right QB? Maybe. Maybe even a right tackle or a center. NOT a receiver.

If you notice players always have their best years during contract years and a lot of them take a step or 2 back after they get paid. I think players contracts should always be preformance based. The better you play the more yout get paid. Obviously with different structures for elite, great, good players etc. Bit i dont think t h ey should get guaranteed money with an obvious exception for injuries.

The problem is Purdy will be due an extension next year so he will ruin their cap situation when added to Bosa, Warner, Samuel contracts. So they can’t afford to pay Ayuk $30M+ in 2025 and beyond. I'm a Niner fan and I'm still expecting him to work it all out and be with SF going forward. I saw all of these same shenanigans with pop up with Deebo a couple of years ago and when BA's fiance/gf and his brother/friend posted right after the Super Bowl my first thought was "it hasn't 24 hours since the Super Bowl, and yall are starting negotiation tactics already? Ok 🤷‍♂️" That being said, the Lynch/Shanahan regime has signed every big name player they've drafted (and before all of any fact checkers start trying to nitpick me on their keyboards about Buckner and Armstead, both were drafted by the prior regime so that's why I'm excluding them). And also Aiyuk has said (to Shannon Sharpe and Chad 85) that he wants to be back, and history (Deebo, Bosa, etc) says he probably will be. I'll concede anything can go sideways at a moment's notice, but I'll say if he hasn't been traded by day 2 of this year's draft, the odds are more than likely that he's not going anywhere. And until he's either traded or resigned, I'm just going to ignore all of the drama coming out of his camp because it's not worth my attention. This is just how contact negotiations work.
