Sadly, the big 10 just doesn’t make enough money in todays market. You got to remember in todays fire arm manufacturing there’s only so much room on the floor. You nailed it there is no room for setting up lines for small runs and space was given away to a more profitable line of shotguns. Browning is owned by FN Herstal from Belgium and good luck pressuring this massive firearms conglomerate.
@avidwaterfowler75228 ай бұрын
Yeah, FN is HUGE! I am hoping that they choose to do a run every couple years. That’s not uncommon when demand is there, but not high enough.

I confirmed that the Gold 10 is not in the Canadian Browning 2024 catalogue. I know the Browning rep here and asked him to confirm. I will be picking up my second Gold 10 this week to make sure I have a spare. I hope they at least they do what they have done for the 16 ga and do occasional run. Thanks for the info and keep up the great work on your channel!!

I called CS as well and voiced my concern. I’m in south central PA and called around to a dozen shops. 3 of those had them. Ended up putting a down payment on one at a shop going to pick it up this week. Sad to see it go to the wayside.

That was a good call. They will most likely sky rocket in value since they’re sooo hard to find as is and will most likely just get harder since they’re being discontinued.

Ok...i'm recovering from my meltdown I just had after watching this 2 hours ago. Thank you for reporting. But man this is terrible news. This is a really big deal. And I don't care about anybody who doesn't like 10ga, they can stay out of the conversation. But for the rest of us it really will be the start of the end if it sticks. Components are already stupid rare for reoading, loaded ammo is already ridiculous in price. The guns were already ridiculous in price and barely available. Why do we have to kill off calibers and gauges? Kill off 10 ga but introduce a 3" 28ga? Come on.... I agree we need to flood Browning with pleas to NOT to discontinue these products. Again thanks for the video but boy this stinks....👊👍
@avidwaterfowler75228 ай бұрын
I really hope they do limited runs in the future. Sometimes companies do that. Like run a small amount every 2 or 3 years.
@avidwaterfowler75228 ай бұрын
The 28ga 3” was SAMMI approved because sub gauges are “in” so to speak. It’s just a trend at the moment, no different that IPA’s of boutique coffees. lol.

I dont own a 10 gauge, but eventually i wanted a 10 gauge BPS. I dont reload yet so ive been holding off, too late now. Being left handed, the BPS seemed like the best option in 10.

If you really want to, you better get one asap. The prices will go way up with being discontinued.

The 3.5” 12ga killed the sales on 10ga & ammo was cheaper and same size loads. i had many 10ga’s the 10 is only king if you reload i went to a mossberg 935 its done everything that the 10,s did as far as patterns with factory loads and for those that dont know a mossberg 935/835 is a 12ga with a 10ga bore barrel .775 so if you want the same performance as a 10 get a mossberg 935 there much cheaper to buy and easier to find ammo for plus also takes other 12ga loads so more versatile. but said to here browning is discontinuing them. the 10ga was never loaded to it full potential because of older guns out there and the industry was a afraid people would take newer higher pressure loads and use them in older guns and why the 3.5” 12ga was born all guns would be of new design and could take more pressure
@avidwaterfowler75228 ай бұрын
Yes, I mention all of those points in other videos. The main problem you bring up about Mossberg, is the fact it’s a mossberg. No offense, the 835 is known for jamming and cycling issues. The 935 is about as reliable as a dodge neon. Any other 12ga 3.5” generally speaking won’t pattern as well as a 10ga. Also, the 10ga has more 1-5/8oz options at slightly quicker velocities which is the exact payload the 10ga shines! I absolutely agree the hand loader can make the 10ga really something special, but I think that can be said for most any caliber/gauge. I bring up the psi window being a huge sticking point for the 10ga in many other videos. It is the main reason the 10ga never stayed relevant. If you know anything about the 45/70, there are three different loading sections in manuals for it. Because of the old trapdoor rifles, on the shelf ammo suffered. This is why the 450 Marlin was brought to life. All the 450 Marlin happens to be is a 45/70 loaded to 1895 capable chamber pressures.
@cougarhunter83048 ай бұрын
@@avidwaterfowler7522 well i can say I’ve never had any of those problems with the 935 everyone i hunt with has gotten one now as well and no issues they work fine most problems are user error they get reassembled wrong forearm retainer on backwards is the number one mistake,makes them short stroke and stove pipe. Same goes for the 930 on the above. 935 is not made for all loads and run fine with 3”-3.5” loads and some 2 3/4” key word some. And mossberg said there not for all loads and will only function properly with magnum loads . And no offense taken. youtubers like challenges right? then buy and give a honest review.
@avidwaterfowler75228 ай бұрын
I’m basing my opinions on the guns I have been around. That’s three different 935 that all jammed on 3.5” shells and two 835’s that had cycling issues. The one 835 was worse than the other… I can say personally, the new 940 is awesome! That is one mossberg that I would buy without a doubt.

Think the 28ga is more popular and with TSS it will compete a 10ga
@avidwaterfowler75228 ай бұрын
TSS is a true game changer. It really makes the need for anything bigger than a 20ga not required.
@vandeusenps8 ай бұрын
I agree, TSS is a game changer…heck, I’ve loaded it in 10 gauge just to see what it does, and at 40 yards with #8 TSS, it looks like you shot it at 5. That being said, TSS will never be popular with any hunting that requires a decent volume of shells due to cost. Turkey hunting, sure.

Thanks for heads up. Thought I better find me a Gold soon so I went looking at Gun Broker, bidding and pricing was going bananas there. So I started in on local firearm retail shops and low and behold found a Gold Light Camo in excellent condition for $1199.00 on consignment. Licked that up as quick as I could. I've decided to send to MGW and get it scrubbed down and modded out as much as I can. Might be the only chance I can get to do this to a 10 Gold. Any suggestions on Mods.
@avidwaterfowler75228 ай бұрын
You lucked out! That’s awesome to hear! What did you plan on getting done at MGW? I have not modded my gold 10 other than TruLock chokes and the stainless steel sure cycle system.
@Capn--Jack8 ай бұрын
Well I guess as of now I am not modding anything. MGW will not work on Gold 10's anymore. I tried Briley and they gave me the cold shoulder to. What is going on hear. A real disappointment to say the least.
@avidwaterfowler75228 ай бұрын
Browning use to market the gold 10 by saying it’s for a special group of elite waterfowl hunters…. Take that how you will. My suggestion is to only change the recoil spring system to a stainless steel sure cycle system and get better chokes.

You know 10ga has gotten a bad rap over the year's. Myths about recoil and heaviness. Its trully a better gauge than 12. Way more capable at taking waterfowl. I have a bps 10ga and love it. I wanted an automatic so bad over the years and just couldnt afford the alomst 2k price tag as browning was the only manufacturer left after ithica was bought by reminington and they then discontinued them. Very sad. If everyone could shoot one they could see all the old myths are just that and that they are far more capable. My bps has same recoil as my 12 3.5 auto. Very sad day for me to find this out. And I was going to finially by one this year.even with the price tag. And after watching your vid and scrolling the net to find all out of stock or prices jacked up😢😢

“My bps 10ga has the same recoil as my 12 3.5” 😂. You don’t have to lie, just say you enjoy the gauge bc it’s rarer these days. No need for 10ga wayyy overkill

I shot a ten gauge for twenty years. BPS, and Remington SP10. I did have a Browning Gold Light and I couldn’t get it to run that well so I moved it on. I don’t have the Remington SP10 anymore either as parts started to fail on it, and part availability was limited after Remington discontinued making that gun. This is sad news, as I feel like we’re closing the book on a part of history in waterfowling. I don’t shoot a 10 gauge anymore and I haven’t for about 15 years but I do know guys that still shoot theirs and this will hurt them. 10 gauge shell prices are extremely high and that’s another reason why I moved on from the 10 gauge. Ammunition prices have skyrocketed in the last three years especially under this current administration. I don’t see ammunition prices going down anytime soon and they will probably increase even more. Reloading components have also gone up. Powder primers all of it. I’m glad I still reload my own ammo, but reloaders are feeling the pinch as well. I mainly reload steel shot as the other shot materials are way beyond my price range. Definitely sad to hear that Browning is discontinuing the 10 gauge as I know some people still shoot that gun and now that it’s discontinued parts will be hard to come by if and when needed.I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year.

With advancements in ammo and chokes the 10ga is overkill/unnecessary/outdated. I can think of no situation a 10ga would be a better option than a 12ga this day and age considering the gun is bulky, heavy, recoil, price of ammo etc.

@@matthewsmith2051 - lol, I just pattern my 12 with a quality load that suits the situation. Long distance honkers BB, BBB, T. Public land pressured big ducks, BB,1, etc. If they are farther than these setups with a 12ga will be effective then they are just too far. The pellets are moving the same speed with the same energy as a 10ga shell.

If Browning permanently discontinue 10 gauge manufacture it will completely disincentivize ammunition component manufacture as well. There'll be no home loading once cheddite/remington/winchester stop making hulls
@vandeusenps8 ай бұрын
I disagree, I think there are enough magnum 10 gauges in circulation to maintain the demand for factory ammo and reloading components. Heck, you can still buy 8 gauge components if you really want!

I can’t agree with you on this one. There are still way to many guns in use. You can still buy oddball calibers and gauges supplies and ammo. It will impact it, but shouldn’t crush it.
@davidcurran16078 ай бұрын
We've had a drought of 10 gauge components since covid here in the UK and no american companies will ship internationally anymore. People are paying over £40 per 100 tps wads if they can even find any. We can't even get remington cases here for the 10 bores either. This definitely won't help the situation
@mrsmith90798 ай бұрын
@@avidwaterfowler7522 Guns break, guns get too old and too sentimental and the owners retire them. If no new guns are entering the market then the number of guns that can chamber that round also decrease over time. No demand = no manufacture. There may well be lots of 10 gauges in use at the moment, but without new blood the 10 gauge will go the way of the 8 and 4 gauge.
