Honestly, big props to D’Angelo for his integrity picking up this story when so few commentary channels would. Just because Tana is “problematic” doesn’t mean she deserves to be ignored; it’s always believe survivors until proven otherwise.

It's disgusting how many people think it's not a big deal because Tana's 'such a wh*re'. If she portrayed herself on the platform as some pure little nun, the reaction would be MUCH more negative. So sad.

I agree, however believe all survivors until proven otherwise is a problematic way of thinking. Yes believe victims. But only if there’s a valid reason to suspect. We shouldn’t all blindly believe everything that’s accusatory. It just happens there video evidence, and collaborative statements backing up her story. Edit y’all: the justice system is innocent till proven guilty.

Nah, fam, I'm 25 and NO ONE in this world could justify "dating" a 17 yo to me, that was a CHILD. Wtf are you even able to defend here? Again it took being bluntly confronted by a fellow male creator. The woman who states she was taken advantage of at 17 doesn’t do it for the internet, and it never will. I don’t get this criticism. D’Angelo said the exact same thing in his video. Literally that he didn’t have enough evidence to formally accuse Cody but his behavior + the testimony of others are enough to warrant concern. Brittany didn’t make a video about it but her response was equally reprimanding. Of course it’s easier to see where D’Angelo is coming from because he produced a video clearly laying out his thoughts and observations but from Brittany’s response it sounded like she was replying to the accusations in real time.

Not to mention the way she foams at the mouth and lowkey objectifies men in the industry with the way she speaks about them and goes feral. Its unsettling when you imagine a dude alone on a podcast speaking so sexually about famous women. She's got her own issues and I really get the vibe she thought Sarah/VCG was holding her career back and switched up.

@findingwig1211 Brittany Broski is legally needed to say that, since these ARE accusations (I believe Cody DID do all this stuff) she is mandated by law to use wording such as: "if proven", or "if true". If for some strange reason, these accusations do turn out to be false, she could be under some legal issues for technically spreading misinformation. However, this is a low hanging fruit ideology since this situation will most likely not go to court, and I think her response more has to do with her discomfort with someone she was close to being a weirdo. Sometimes you do not want to believe your hero was doing shady stuff right behind everyone's back. I believe just through her character that's she simply having a hard time, and needs a minute to understand that her childhood figure was a predator and she (without knowing) enabled his career with her teen-based audience.

When that live show video first came out, there were videos on youtube of people victim blaming her for shit she did years ago. I feel like she's grown a lot whether we like to admit it or not. Sure her podcast is just exposing people, but who doesn't love a lil gos? I also feel like her perspective on it that she talked about on cancelled was very mature. But went to tell his close friends about it. The reason I found out about it, because his ex best friend told me about it. I pray for not only Tana, but those who have been through it. You are loved, it wasn’t your fault, it was their fault!

@@ZestyZig no she wouldn’t. She ONLY had to call them allegations to cover herself legally, though I doubt Cody will be filing a defamation lawsuit against anyone. He wouldn’t get far with that. To say “if it’s proven” implies that Tana needs to prove this happened. Since you’re in the law community, you should understand how hard it is for victims to prove that rape happened at all… let alone a decade later. But this isn’t a court of law, this is the real world, so I believe victims when they come forward with their story. You should also know 98% of rapists will never be convicted. Are you saying we only supposed to believe the >2% of victims whose rapist went to jail?

Although Brittany's energy can be seen as protective of a friend under some heavy allegations.. please, please, PLEASE remember the law! If you live in the states, under protective law she is ordered to use phrases like "if true" or "if proven". I personally believe Cody IS a predator and what Tana said was 100% true, but remember that these ARE accusations. If for some reason these accusations turn out to be false, Brittany can be under some heavy legal issues for spreading misinformation. She could face up to weeks in jail, heavily fined, or forced service hours. Let's also remember Brittany is human. This is probably a lot for her right now, I mean just imagine your childhood idol is a super creep! If you're interested in the legality side of this (since there is one) check out 'defamation laws' by Cornell Law school. The tort of defamation includes both libel (written statements) and slander (spoken statements), so Brittany could be held under Libel defamation if Cody ever felt like bringing her to court over ruining his public image to her grand audience. Although you may have responded differently if you WERE Brittany, just know legally and emotionally this was the safest option!

Hey @alexandriaandersova6816 ! Well, Brittany has no problems with Tana in this context! You simply were misinformed about the legality of this (which is totally fine! ) You see legally she is mandated to use wording like: "if proven" or "if true"! There is something called defamation laws, these are very serious laws, that are treated very seriously! Legally, she cannot claim Tana's accusations as truth. Since they are accusations, they are simply not proven yet! So if Brittany didn't use this very clear wording, she could be held liable for defamation. From a legal standpoint, Brittany did everything right. She supported Tana if these accusations are true, she said her opinion on the matter, and she left. It's not her job to verify things, I mean imagine if your friend turned out to be a pedophile! I personally would never want to talk to him ever again.

Legally, Brittany Broski cannot take these accusations as truths, but she can still feel it (like all the rest of us!). Even if her message was short, she did everything right. She supported the victim if these accusations are true, said her personal statement, and then left. Brittany simply left it to those more informed and more educated on the matter. There is something called defamation laws, and they are no joke! I've posted a few reply comments to similar comments saying the same exact thing. LEGALLY, she cannot claim this as truth. LEGALLY, she must use words like: 'If proven" or "if true". Let's also remember Brittany is human too. Not every emotion, wether its happy or sad, needs to be shared online. Whilst you may think this behavior is 'pick me', just know this is the best way to respond to such heavy allegations. Show support for the alleged victim, make your statement on your feelings IF TRUE, and leave. This is not Brittany's issue, she is not accused of being a pedophile, she is cutting ties, and she's leaving this for those who are ACTUALLY educated and well-informed on this matter to take the lead. I'm 20 with a 24yo boyfriend, really nothing weird about it and we have a far more stable relationship than friends in same age relationships that break up and make up every other week. He didn't go to college until he was 21, our life stage, interests, friends, align, age really isn't something noticeable day to day except for occasionally teasing him for missing references. Yeah he's about to graduate but it's very common for couples to have one partner in school and one working (medical school, nursing, people returning for second degrees etc). You make it work, even couples of the exact same age aren't always in the same stage. And if it doesn't work out--that's also fine-- it doesn't automatically make that relationship "toxic" or "creepy" in retrospect. Just my two cents, its hard reading so many comments saying anyone 25 dating anyone a few years or more younger is automatically a bad person

Britney was literally following the law, if she didn’t include the ‘if it is true’ she could’ve been sued!! It’s why even reporters and essay channels say allegedly! She’d just be dumb to not protect herself from defamation, her speaking up was the important part because it got a larger audience to learn or possibly take it more seriously,

I’m 20 and when I was 19 I declined my 17 year old coworker/one of my best friends because I was too uncomfortable with the age difference. I told him to wait until he was 18 and out of high school in a couple months. Sadly he passed away a few months ago but I’m still very much content with my decision of putting boundaries, he didn’t understand why but to me being a minor in hs vs a legal adult out of hs changes everything. I can’t believe he did that at 25, that’s sick.

absolutely live and respect for d'angelo using his platform to support and call out these. creators, but it's depressing once again seeing that for a situation such as this to be talked to more once again depended on a male creator. kudos to him ofc it's just so repulsive how clear the misogyny is even in online spaces

8 years apart is what's crazy. She was literally barely leaving high school at that age. The way some adults literally lust after children is so sick to me. There's no way to justify it. Even in my own family or friend circles as I've gotten older I'm like wtaf is with these age gaps!

Honestly lately brittany has been rubbing me off the wrong way. She had no stance about palestine and when she did she did very verryyyy face value activism and forgot about it. And now this...The pick and choose activism is really annoying

Also not him deleting all of the videos he has made in these past few weeks. Moderating the comments probably too much work.

i think brittany broski’s response was just poorly written. the “if proven to be true” could’ve been left out completely because she already mentioned that they are allegations and not fact…

Hey @vernoniscute! Her response is actually amazingly written! Reading your comment you mention the phrase "if proven to be true" which is a legal mandating. There is something called defamation laws and they are very tricky! I believe you already have a good handle on what that means already, and it's amazing you talked about it! Brittany can also be simply in grief, she was a super fan. This message is the most personal she may ever get with us, although it may be short, let's remember she is simply human. If she was ever under legal issues because of this, it's just an extra buffer! So it may be sloppy, but it was safe.

I understand the mindset of not believing all accusations by default, but in this case there is a witness, and another person vouching for the witness. The story is consistent. And looking at motives, Tana has nothing to gain by lying about this. She’s accusing someone powerful and well-loved in her field of work. She’s risking backlash from all of his fans and friends. She won’t do that for no reason. I believe her. And Cody needs to say something and stop being a silent coward. The silence makes him look very guilty

Tana did dig up her own hole by being a liar with her promotions and collars brands release blah blah and scamming people and not endorsing back which is why people wouldn’t believe her BUT that doesn’t mean you can shame her or call her a liar for coming out with a sad story like this

Gabbie Hanna has done some shit obviously but it’s crazy how right she was about so many people that had no problem dropping her the moment she was out of public favor …David Dobrik…Shane Dawson….Colleen Ballinger…Trisha trying to manipulate the podcast she had her on..trying to stop Cody Ko with Tana…. *glass house - bad karma Ep plays in the distance*

And it's crazy how she was a whistleblower in so many situations and couldn't help get crazy with the way people acted nonchalant. The culture of saying nothing and looking away and she's a meddler that should mind her ofwn business. Like even Jessi thing, who was/is friend with Alex James that testified in Curtis favor I front of DA, knew both of them prior, collabed with him after.and what she get crucified for tweets she made before she even met any of them.?And later being cornered in passing in a party. It's just madness how disproportionately she's attacked. Why Jessi called her and only her best friend, thats a pedestal to be knocked off but never explained the good she did to be called that in the first place.
