Loved it when Ventus's heart popped out and enclosed Sora in his Armor to protect him when he got trapped by Organiztion 13's darkness. As a result, Ventus's Armor got possessed by the Darkness instead of Sora. It shielded Sora from the worst effects of Darkness. It protected Sora's heart from being corrupted.

@@rodanyo you are correct, the White hair/eyes don't mean Xehanort but so far he is the only one who has used his darkness to take over others so it almost doesnt matter Plus, we even know that Xehanort himself doesnt naturally have yellow eyes, his are more grayish, but that is a discussion for later TL;DR It isn't something exclusive to Xehanort as it is more of "using darkness to take over others" but right now there is no one else who has access to that skill so the separation doesn't matter

Isnt the yellow eyes the symbol of someone who have dwelved deep into the darkness? Cause every Heartless for example have yellow eyes, and they are either the pure heartless who doesn't wield the "emblems" or the 'created' heartless who wield the "emblems". Besides, Ansem the Wise also have yellow eyes, but he isn't a vessel or a Xehanort, so yellow eyes (from what I deduce) isn't signifying that someone is 'Norted, but rather someone who dwells or have dwelled deep into the darkness and harnessed a certain power through it. I could also be completely wrong, who knows, its theories atm. Have a good day.

When it comes to the time travel stuff showing up in this game it's easy to think that it just happened for this game, but no they hinted about this before. In BBS Young Xehanort appears as a super boss for the game much like how Xemnas did for 1. And while Young Xehanort didn't use a Keyblade in that battle, your reward for beating him? The No Name keyblade, which is the exact keyblade Young Xehanort uses in this game just a little less sinister but all the time references are there.

It may not have been clear for at the end, but its confirmed that even though Sora will always be the main character, for DDD Riku is the main character of the game. He had a lot more to prove and fight for himself. While Sora's experience sets him up for what's to come in KH3.

If you look back at their KH2 appearance, Xigbar and Saïx were already 'norted (that's the official fandom term for being made part Xehanort) back in the original Organization XIII. Saïx was probably 'norted by Xemnas because he was his second-in-command. As for Xigbar, as another comment has already mentioned, look at Braig's appearance throughout Birth by Sleep.

The secret is not giving up. I actually don't know the trick but I usually keep doing what I'm doing until it works (I think it have something to do with the clock thingie that appears at some point when the Xehanort's silhouettes are charging you).

Spoiler: Though I will admit time travel does play a role in KH1 in a form of foreshadowing due to the existence of the lifeboat and the later reveal it has time travel capabilities. However it was wasn’t used for that reason in that game rather it was what sent Kairi to Destiny Islands. It’s inclusion in KH1 was simply for foreshadowing practically screaming *”Remember this for later.”* in flashing lights.

Nah. The first paragraph in the secret message is 100% a teaser for the HD remix. The second paragraph ("next number") definitely hints at KH3, along with the letters during the credits as you said, but he is right that the first tease in the secret message refers to the HD re-release, which came out the following year. It's pretty obvious when you go back over the wording.

"HD REmix" it was literally the first Kingdom Hearts release to ever come out with what was technically high definition graphics (remember, in 2012 we still would refer to things as SD vs HD, nowadays HD is just default for everything). At the end of the day they were just teasing both projects, so we're essentially both right. And the HD remix tease could easily be viewed as a KH3 tease as well, especially since like you said, that was the first game to truly come out built from the ground up and brand new in HD (unless you include .2 BBS). It was really nitpicky of me to even chime in really, but I figured it was worth mentioning, since the specific wording mentions a past game reborn with new detail.

The battle against Armor Ventus Nightmare is a reference to Norse Mythology where the Hero Sigurd awakens the Valkyrie Brynhild from her slumber. Brynhild's body is slowly being covered in a form of armor that's growing on her and there's also flames involved. And the Boss Battle is against Ventus' Armor and fire Spells gets used against you. So Riku is pretty much the Hero Sigurd in the game. Looking to Awaken the Maiden Brynhild who is Sora in this situation. Please note, the relationship between Sigurd and Brynhild isn't completely used for Riku's and Sora's. As the former pair gets married and has a child together. And Sigurd gets killed by his wife... but that's after losing his memories of her and marrying another woman. That whole situation for that is a bit complicated. Spoiler(I think) Also one more thing, Norse Mythology plays a major role in Kingdom Hearts apparently. As Kingdom Hearts Dark Road has ties to Ragnarok. Which is the event where the Norse gods die. Just remember the God of Light Baldr's death marks the start of the event. It's a detail you need to know due to how heavy the Norse Lore is used in Dark Road.

To understand what xehanort did: Xehanort did "time borrow" from avengers endgame (well, endgame came later). Ansem (brown robe guy that sora finds in destiny island at the beginning of kh1) sends his heart to the past to find his young version, as asked him to time travel to the future to meet future versions of himself. Those versions of xehanort are his heartless and nobody (ansem and xemnas) plus the empty vessels from the org xiii that has a piece of xehanort heart, like saix or xigbar. They have yellow eyes to show that (in birth by sleep there is cutscene of aqua asking xigbar Who are you, and the camera focuses in xigbar eyes that are now yellow). The time borrowed versions of xehanort, if defeated in the present, they will travel back to their original time without having memories of their time travel. Time travel can not change the past, but you can use it to time borrow an army of yous to change the future in that way. Hope this helps.

I actually really like Dream Drop Distance! Even though it doesn’t really have 2 of my 3 favorite characters (top 5 characters in order: Ven, Terra, Riku, Axel, Sora). This is DEFINITELY Riku’s game, just like how KH2 is Roxas’ game, Chain of Memories is Namine’s, and 358/2 is Xion’s (if anyone wants me to explain any of my thoughts regarding the key character of each game, I am more than happy to do so)

MoM = Kairi Dark Road = Xehanort Missing Link = Brain? Does this seem about right? Of the 13 characters on the cover of KH3, we're only missing Axel, Donald, and Goofy. I might make an argument that Namine should actually be assigned to Re:Coded and Axel then assigned CoM, so that only the Disney trio don't have their own games. Then, KH3 could be the "team united" game (or maybe Yozora).

It's not just that people only play the numbered titles, there are people who believe they can absorb all the story by just watching summary videos on KZbin. Shockingly, you can't just sum up even one game's story in a 30 minute or even hour-long video. There are people who'll watch the cutscenes sure, but even that isn't enough in my opinion. You really need to play the games yourself to truly appreciate and grasp the full story, especially with all the secret journals/data entires etc. Plus a major benefit to playing the games as opposed to simply watching the cutscenes is, you get periods of gameplay between each exposition dump that allow you to process what you've just seen. Watching just the cutscenes is simply information overload.

Ansem (the Wise)’s words made me think about data as a concept in kingdom hearts. I always see people confused about it when it’s just another way of saying memory. It’s the same thing and it’s been in the series since the beginning. It’s funny how people can accept the replicas as a concept but not understand the data/memory that they are created with.

Data is generated from computers. However, Data can be transfer into someone Memory. Brains are kind of like computers. or Hearts.

In fact, this issue of Hearts not being able to become data was the main cause of the Re:Coded problems. As instead of capturing the hearts, the Journal could only capture the fledgeling minds of the Heartless, which basically caused a loop allowing Sora's Heartless, or at least, the Data Version, to almost become real, and a real threat at that. But, Data can gain a Heart theoretically. Data Sora being able to wield a REAL keyblade is testimony of that theory. Same goes for Repliriku creating his own identity, and Xion becoming a wholly Unique being, despite merely being some of Sora's memories given a shape. But those hearts made cannot turn into data. That's partly why Xion's heart went to rest in Sora. And why Repliriku roamed the realm of darkness till Riku comes across him in KH3. Their hearts basically became wayward spirits, looking for a home to rest in.

This series was an absolute blast to catch live!!! But heck, it almost makes me wish I'd played this on the 3DS for myself. If I'd known it took place after KH2 I certainly would have picked it up on the original system, as I loved the heck out of KH2 and the 3DS. All I remember about KHDDD was seeing ONE commercial for it on an old cartoon channel, with the narration of some kid talking like "AnD YoU CaN GeT KiNdGdOm HeArTs DrEaMDroPDiStAnCe, NeW On ThE NinTeNdO 3dS!!!", paired with some footage of Riku doing Flowmotion. At the time, my first impressions from one bad commercial was "oh no, they must be milking the franchise with a weird non-canon spinoff now" AND I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG, THESE STREAMS WERE AMAZING!!! They canonically took the crazy ending fight of KH2 (jumping off buildings and attacking mid air) and turned it into an evolution of Sora and Riku's abilities, while also taking advantage of handheld and 3D gimmicks WHICH I'M SURE WOULD HAVE LOOKED SO GOOD WHY DID I LET MYSELF MISS OUT ON THIS- great streams btw! Now both me and you are all ready to dive into KH3!

i would REALLY recommend you to watch everglow's video with all important kingdom hearts chi cutscenes cuz i doubt they'll ever remake union cross and its REALLY important for the future of kingdom hearts. i think that video also includes kh x back covers cutscenes, not sure though. if it does you can just watch the whole video next instead of the x back cover movie.

I am an avid Kingdom Hearts fan, ever since the very first game released back in 2002. I am happy to have joined in your playing of and reactions to this series. As to what to do next leading up to Kingdom Hearts 3, I recommend watching the cinematic movie Kingdom Hearts X: Back Cover AND THEN play Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Fragmentary Passage. The 2.8 title actually serves as a prologue to Kingdom Hearts 3. At least I think so. The events in 2.8 actually lead right into the beginning of Kingdom Hearts 3. So watching the Back Cover short movie before playing 2.8 would be better so as not to get caught up and confused in 2 different stories at once.

Here's the thing. He experienced dream drop on a regular type console game style. However the 3D on the 3DS made this game amazing beyond compare especially with the dual screens. That is an experience which you can only get on the original platform which this game was made for.

No Dee. We went over this in the first game. The Keyblade *did not choose Sora.* It actually *chose Riku,* but went to Sora because *Riku was corrupted.*
