I was reading how a city will intentionally let an area like Kensington fall apart. When the businesses are all closed and most people have left, the big business guys can buy up the property for CHEAP and "gentrify" it into an expensive district again. Obviously, thet get very rich doing it.

Yes. Here in Brazil there is a famous economist and businessman buying all private schools. After the pandemic and that "close this close that" thing, stay at home and we'll see about the economy later", the schools went bankrupt, went bankrupt. Now he buys everything at a bargain price and can hire the teachers he wants to stay teaching children everything that is no good.

Right next to it is almost totally gentrified/booming Fishtown. A little further...Northern Libeties. A bit further south Old City ( where most of the historical things happened in the 18th century.) Did you know the Dutch gave the new US loans secured by John Adams. The Dutch should always be our friends.
