I heard he got a lot of heat for this......what kind of heat could he get for this? He's spreading a message of love! What could someone say to him to insinuate that what he did was wrong??

I was sitting at the masjid with my friend who is white. Another woman sits with us and begins a conversation with us. She then looks at me and asks, "Are you her maid?" I have been in salaah and people don't want to stand next to me. I have been on line at iftar, and someone would not take a plate from me. Alhamdullilah...these incidents aren't the norm, but they still hurt and build resentment. Strange that the same people who hate being labeled are so quick to slap some on others.

Best Khutbah I heard yet! I always learn alot from this Shakyh. Masha Allah may Allah reward this shaykh, and may Allah protect him and his family. Allahumman Ameen.

Great Khutba... what also needs to be pointed out is the institutional racism that is so prevalent in many Muslim countries.

MashaAllah. it's about time someone addressed racism within the Muslim community who are Desi and or Middle Eastern or East African. They can be racist as hell.

Mashallah, thank you for this lecture. It sure hurts to live in a racist society but it is even more painful when you have to witness your child go through it at the mosque or play ground or park or even a restaurant...I grew up abroad not being aware of any racial discrimination until I came in this country 14 years ago and everywhere you go as a black woman I am subject to racism to the point where I know the option to marry outside of my race has become suicidal... I will never be happy because of how society is👁👁

That's what the speaker was saying. He was challenging the notion that African American are "unproductive" in certain neighborhoods. A notion that, I am ashamed to say, exists with many Muslims. May Allah guide us all.

Thanks for the great reminder and AWAKENING! I never knew how racist I was :( And especially all the aunties, uncles and friends and many in the community who are too. We judge so much, mock so much, stereotype so much that we forget our own deen and the sunnah which we are suppose to follow that abandons this kind of useless mockery and talk. I ask myself, if Muhammad (PBUH) was with me when I make racial jokes would he laugh or would he leave my company? :( Jazakala Khair Brother Omar!

"We are not supposed to judge. ... As a Muslim community, we get no respect because we don't respect each other. ... So long we are racist, we can't achieve respect because Allah SWT says Allah doesn't change a nation until they change themselves"

Most of my masjid is blacks mostly my children are half black. Nabi Musa was black. I wouldnt accept someone who dresses in a western way in public to marry my daughter. Thats how I would answer what you have to say.
