The End of Spiritual Seeking

Rupert Spira talks about the end of spiritual seeking. He also explains how, often, spiritual practices that are intended to end our suffering are just a continuation of the search for happiness in objective experience, and why the true remedy for suffering requires no effort.
The impulse to do something, or search for something, is the core of the ego. In Buddhist terms Dukkha, the core dissatisfaction, compels us to reach for something. This feeling like 'something is missing' has most people out in the world reaching for objects such as substances, activities, relationships and so on. In the spiritual traditions, the objects which we reach for are refined - it becomes a mantra instead of the glass of beer. But we are still trying to replace what is present now with something that we imagine will be present in the future if we do this practice.
And that's fine for a while, but sooner or later we have to ask the question, why? What am I escaping from? And who is the one that is escaping from it? Does the seeker actually exist? In the process, the impulse to move away from ourself winds down. And when it winds down completely, it leaves us in peace.
The highest meditation is therefore not something we do. It's what we are. And as we are already that, it requires no effort. Any effort would take us away from where we are now towards something which is not yet present. That is suffering - that's the definition of suffering.

I was feeling anxious and looking for a distraction. I knew that I was doing that, but I couldn’t help it. So I opened KZbin thinking “Let’s see what the Universe has to say to help me out right now!” And this was the first video on the landing page. A very clear message to put my phone down and just be.

I love the way in which Rupert define Duka. “The feeling of insatisfacción” that impulse us to seek happiness in the objects of experience. That means that rather than “suffering” as many people translate, it would better be translated as “the cause of suffering”

Consciousness Only model means that consciousness is not the “Cause” of anything but rather the “empty space like” of awareness in which all experience are known, In which all experience appears and disappears and out of which are experiences are made. At the level of absolute there is not neither cause nor effect, only eternal being and experiencing. That is my understanding of Rupert teachings but I could be wrong.

Agree 100%! Stuck in the middle of exactly THAT 95%. I made up that last number, I don't know how much I'm stuck. I just keep noticing. Much more could be said about it but the saying gets long and tedious, it's best people see it for themselves. I can be galumphing along just fine and the thought: "Yes, but what is God (Self, True-Nature, the Absolute?") arises and everything goes to hell! I start looking for something different, causing my own suffering. It's definitely a trip. A hard habit to drop.

There is nothing to attain, nothing. Consciousness is Self-Existing, Acausal. Therefore you can not make it happen, by any means what-so-ever, ANY means, none. Realization will never be a result of cause and effect. But you can perpetually fail to Be it, being distracted and contracted, as a result of seeking for it. Seeking for what you always already Are IS suffering. Your glasses were on your head the whole time you were stressfully looking for them. Aha! Im an idiot! I once came up with the thought: "the ending of doing is the ending of being." It sounds clunky, but the words were right for me and it ended all searching for a while and I fell into a deeply satisfying sleep. In that sentence the being meant everything, the whole of experience. Not all shoes fit for everybody though.

@@WorkerBeesUnite The "being" in my comment referred to the experience of that particular moment which contained the suffering of seeking. So what ended was the doing of seeking and the suble impulses of needing to do anything. There's no need to talk about it. I'm not any kind of teacher. But I see your point and you could say it like that too.

If I was not a spiritual seeker and reached a point of peace, I would not watch this video. So everyone who watches Rupert must be a seeker. If we all find peace, Rupert will not have an audience. So, I guess if I am to find peace, I should stop watching Rupert's videos. But, then again, we can't really do anything to find the spiritual peace we seek. OK, I should not be using logic to find my way to spiritual happiness.

🌞 Wanting to practice and do practice at spiritual centers especially of great sages isn't for escaping now but the best way for transformation, purification and awakening of Consciousness. 1 month practice at Ramana Maharshi Ashram or Hairakhan Babaji Ashram are equal to some decades of practice at home. It is not just ok ...❤

My today's realisation of the people's sufferings is that people are manifesting demons over devtas...both are within their mind the light and the dark aspects...but they are drawn to feed the demon mind with glamour that attracts desire, lust, greed, jealousy and other demonic attributes. Giving up on an attachment to materials help to avoid the opening channels of demonic attributes which pave the ways to sufferings.

This would imply that the soul (attention) is not deeply identified and entangled with the worldly experience. Undoing that entanglement is the goal of spiritual practice. And it is not just an intellectual realization, it takes many years of practice ..to also identify with something different, which is the Word or logos, the true identity of the soul.

But he still needs to give those talks, which is also an object. If he were any different from any other person that seeks something, why is he actually there? The chair in which he is seated, the micro he is using and so on were invented and manufactured by people that believed in chasing an object. If he gets sick he would want a doctor that believe in ego and medicine enough to study for many years and staying in a hospital. This way of speaking has absolutely no respect for thousand of people that make our life possible.

No, his words are Not meant to be disrespectful! He gives examples for the illusion the mind creates for you, as spiritual seekers might forget or neglect the fact that life is happening and not done. End of talking, foolish to fall in love with a speaker all speakers are irrelevant. Take J. Krisnamurti spent his whole life talking and the funny things is he never used one complicated word or phrase. Yet those who went to his talks and surrounded him were mostly high brow intellectuals, why was that. Seems they still imagined the intellect was the vehicle to take them there. Krishna J was a very very dry wine far to dry for most of us and did he awaken anyone or did he make it worse, which reinforced people staying in there intellectual bubble. That's why pretty much no one can help you, better to not say anything as they say if you meet Buddha on the road kill him.

One of my favorite stories is about a previous life when Buddha was a Bodhisattva. It was a time of famine, and he sees a mother tiger in distress because she is unable to generate milk to feed her cubs. So, out of compassion, he removes his clothing, folding his robes and placing them on a shrub, lays down, and offers himself as a meal to the mother tiger so she can generate milk and feed her cubs.
