A farewell film for the ST43 (060DA) locomotives, which hauled PKP trains in various parts of Poland for 54 years. These machines were brought to the Polish State Railways from Romania in the years 1965-1978 in the number of 422 vehicles. On April 29, 2019, the last active ST43 at PKP Cargo ended its service, thus ending the operation of these vehicles in national companies. Single copies are still active in private carriers.
Vehicles marked in PKP as ST43 were produced in the Romanian Electroputere plants in 1959-1987 as Electroputere 060DA and 062DA. They are heavy diesel locomotives designed for mountain routes. In Poland, however, they first went to the west of the country, then to the south, and only in 1975 to MD Nowy Sącz, where they could show their capabilities in the mountains. They were mainly used to haul freight trains, rarely passenger ones. They were most often referred to as "Romanian" in railroad jargon in Poland. Together with the ST44 (M62) locomotives from the USSR, they contributed to the displacement of steam locomotives from Polish railroads. The 060DA was also exported to Bulgaria, China (ND2, ND3 series), Germany and Italy.
