People should learn how statistics work. If you want an IOS device you only have one manufacturer to choose from. On the other hand, Android offers hundreds of manufacturers. In total Apple only has approximately 16% global market share. If more manufacturers could offer an IOS device this chart would look different.
@ironspider6851

people are losing their brain cells every day. how hard is it to read the chart. the chart says bestselling phones per model. there are only 4-5 iPhone models to choose from. but on the android side, there are over 500 models to choose from. so even if 80% of the mobile users in the world use android, that 80% is shared by 500 different models. and the rest 20% is shared by 4-5 iPhone models. and if you do the math, the 20% will have the bestselling model.

I used to be like you. I was an android die hard. My wife got an iphone 6 in 2014. I got a samsung s7 in 2016. By year 2020, my s7 was crawling slow. I did everything I could to speed it up. I even rooted it and got some roms to help it. My wife's iphone was happily going along. Hers was the bendgate iphone, and the one that was throttled by apple! It was the one that had 2 major media issues! We can only afford to replace 1 phone a year, so we bought her the iphone 11. I switched from my s7 to her iphone 6 and used it for a year. Android only looks better if you aren't next to an iphone. Me, being a techy guy, fell for the pitfall. I think that more and more people are realizing this, putting their tails between their legs and accepting this. Her macbook has also outlived my windows PC, but I'm not going that far

why would anyone want to only have one phone platform survive? Imagine having the option of only one car to buy, or one style of jeans from the same company. Having options spurs innovation and competition. Not sure if I want the company that limits USB-C speeds on the non pro models to USB 2.0 transfer speeds, or the same company that won't display the temperature 69 on it's phone for some reason (maybe they think their buyers aren't mature enough to see that without giggling). More importantly, why would anyone cheer on the demise of competition for devices that we get our information and content from? As for ecosystem, that is as silly an argument as "green bubbles".

It's a catch 22 if one platform is completely purged. If iOS is purged, you will eventually lose the freedom given by Android. If Android is purged, you wouldn't have all the cool software features in iOS being developed as fast, and most apps probably wouldn't exist. If the iSheep wanna be locked down by Apple, let them. @@mariuscristian2831 I can make my homescreen look any which way I want it to (icon designs, icon colors, icon placement, even the size of icons and how many of them fit on the homescreen), install any custom launcher I want (some have special functions that others don't), get any app I want without being constrained to the Google Play Store, etc. So for example, I changed my homescreen grid from 4x4 icons to 6x6, I enabled material you icons which automatically makes all icons the same color, I downloaded several modded apps that completely disable ads on instagram and other social media, and so on. There's probably a bunch of other stuff I haven't even dabbled in yet, but it literally feels like I can do whatever the hell I want with my phone. Also, a little plus on a side note: I really, really love the new circle to search function on Android! It's very handy.

So who's gonna tell him that if Apple's market share is 29.27%, Android's market share is over 70%... Highest selling phone models aren't a good metric, because one company (like Apple) may have very few models, while another company (like Xiaomi) may have very many models. So say people buy a new Xiaomi, maybe a million people, they will all get various phones, so not one phone will have a million from those sales. If a million people buy a new iPhone, well the 15 is the new iPhone, so the iPhone 15 series (split over 3 models is it?) will get the million sales.

I'm vendor-agnostic within the Android ecosystem. I've owned multiple different models from HTC, Sony, LG, Samsung over the years. I go with whoever has the best specifications (fastest SoC, most storage and RAM, smallest, lightest in the 6.2"-6.7" range - I believe 6.4"/6.5" is ideal). I can't consider Apple because of how proprietary and locked down they are. I need to be able to customise my home screen to the way I like it and to be able to just plug my phone into any computer and copy files to/from it without any special software. I am keen to move to a folding phone when they're 8mm thin and a normal screen ratio on the outside that just folds out to a nice small tablet without added thickness when folded in normal use. Apple doens't seem to be doing anything in this space either. Samsung is really pioneering.

During the Apple Silicon transition it became clear that Apple was finally considering user feedback in their designs (more ports on MacBooks, customizable lock screen, interactive widgets) it became no contest. They were implementing everything I liked about Android but with way more refinement. I sold my Galaxy, decommissioned my Windows laptop, and picked up a MacBook and an iPhone. I switched from android to iPhone in 2020 when we all got our stimulus checks. Because I’m blind and the screen reader on iPhone is better than the one that was at least on android at the time when I switched.

I was Android until December 2016. It lost its magic for me. I’ve been with iPhone since. I’ve been happy with it. But, even if I wanted to switch, I couldn’t. I’m too deep into the Apple Ecosystem. They got me. I even got the flippin credit card!

I live in Europe, but I am a tech enthusiast and been watching trends. My opinion of what happened, some major events: 1- Blackberry failed and all companies switched to iPhones because of security, OS predictability and success factor / reputation. 2- Consumers got hung on Apple products as they got hung on Coca Cola 3- Competitors were crushed by politics and lobbyists, see Huawei 4- Nokia failed to dump Widows early on and move to Android; got bought & sold and lost. Similar to this Sony/Ericsson/LG/HTC did not adapt with the trends and lost the start 5- Samsung had and has such a diverse product lines that no one gets impressed by the brand name. They did not focus entirely on a few models and design. 6- App companies had a better life developing for iOS instead of Android due to the latter having so many variants, flavours and potential complexities. Lastly, I am writing this from an iPhone 13 which I find very difficult to type on. My thumbs hurt. But at least I got it free.

This is bad… If Android disappears, where is Apple going to get their inspiration for new features?
@ironspider6851
@ironspider6851 5 ай бұрын
not all features of android comes from revolutionary ideas within the company. some of the features come from user feedback. apple also gets user feedback but the problem with apple is that they are very slow to release features. so yeah, if android disappears the number of iPhone users would increase which means more feedback.

@@ironspider6851 idk how much 13% will have an effect on feedback. Especially since Apple often refuses, like the type c port, which they only did if they wanted to continue selling in the eu. And with no other competitors, why would they listen to people anyways? You either buy theirs, or buy theirs, so why would they care
@ironspider6851
@ironspider6851 5 ай бұрын
@@merrikkplayzgamez you do make a good point. but if apple was the only company, it would mean that there is no competition. and no competition means that they could release half-baked features. the only reason why apple is late to release new features is because they want to make the most polished version of a certain feature. android comes with many half-baked features and some of them become a success. after seeing their success apple makes a polished version of it. but if android doesn't exist they could also release half-baked/experimental features cause the consumer only has 1 option. but this is a hypothetical situation. so we can't really judge what would happen.

If you add up the %s of each Apple model in that first chart, it's 16% of total sales. Would've been better to show all models with >1% or >0.75%. As is, the chart implies Apple market dominance which is simply not the case globally, and maybe not even the case in the US.

I think Marques Brownlee switched from an iPhone to a Galaxy S24 Ultra in an instant and it probably doesn't affect his life at all. He seems to enjoy going to the Android OS and he's certainly an Apple advocate for the most part. If you're good with tech, you'll adapt in a short time to a different ecosystem.
