The Ending GOT ME ~ Final Fantasy 7 Remake FINALE REACTIONS

Feel free to discuss the ending in the comments! It’s really intriguing but after sitting on it for a while and re-looking at the game I do have my own solid theory and opinion about it now in retrospect: I'm of the opinion that Zack, Biggs and Jessie are dead in our reality and universe. I think that the end scenes are from Zack's alternate universe that Square is setting up to tug at our heartstrings later in the game into making us think they are alive, but they aren't really. Just my personal take on it, probably wrong as I usually am XD

@Eric V I believe only Wedge stayed alive, no? We saw Biggs and Jessie die, it doesn't make sense... In fact, even Wedge being alive by itself is kinda weird - why didn't the whispers make sure he died?

One theory is that in the final scene from the original, where we see Aerith‘ face and hear that familiar three notes play while holy and the livestream defeat meteor, she actually sends part of her consciousness back to herself through the livestream to that moment where she prays in front of the mako pipes we see in the intro cinematic of the Remake. And what happens there, that is different from the OG? Right. She becomes afraid and looks down the alley like she knows that dark shadows are looming-shadows cast by a single black wing.... I think both Sephiroth and Aerith know what goes down in the original and are both trying to change the outcome of Remake in their favor. Though I don‘t think, that the story in the upcoming games will be drastically different form the OG (Kitase already said so), but that new metaplot will keep us guessing for a while. 😁

This game is everything, it's a remaster, a remake, a reboot and a sequel all squeezed together. At first, as the hardcore purist ff7 fan that i am, i didn't like the finale, i almost hated it. Then, piece by piece it all came together during the second playthrough, and i must say i love it. Sephiroth is from the future, but not post FF7 future, he is from post Advent Children future. Think of the 3 Harbingers of Fate, 1 with a sword, 1 with akimbo guns, 1 with a single glove: in other words Kadaj, Yazoo, Loz. And what do they become when they fuse together? Bahamut, the same Bahamut summoned during Advent Children... AC became canon under our noses and many people (me included at first) didn't even notice :-D The plot ghosts only appear when Sephiroth messes up the story. The first time we see them is when we meet Aerith at the very beginning. We just had a very unexpected and "off script" encounter with Sephiroth who delayed us by showing memories of the destruction of Nibelheim. It's to try and not let Cloud and Aerith meet, so the ghosts are there to literally hold Aerith in place for a few minutes and let Cloud reach her. Aerith is in on it. We can notice it by how much and how fast her character changes. She knows something's going on with their story, and the Planet talks to her. I'm not sure how much she knows or how, but i'm ready to bet she does know something. Also there are a few giveaways, like how she seemed to already know who Marlene is and where to find her when she has to go and save her from the collapsing plate. My prediction is that Zack is not alive, at least not in "our" timeline. They know they cannot change the story THAT much, they would both destroy the story and make every single ff7 fan angry. I believe the second part is going to be very similar to the first, meaning that the storyline is going to be very very similar to the original, with Sephiroth trying to fuck with our brain here and there. Also the characters don't know so much more than they should, they had a couple of visions of a few moments of their future, nothing more. They still have to discover 99.9% of what's happening, so it's only logic that they will make very similar choices to the ones they made in the original game. And.... yes, Aerith is still going to die. This game has 2 main themes, Ecology and Loss. You can't take away one of the two or it would make no sense, it would be like taking away the Mako subplot, it just wouldn't work. Square is just giving us hope, they want us to hope we can save her so that when they take her from us again it hurts even more. It's going to be a very harsh moment i believe.

One important thing: Remember Sephiroth telling us that he would never be just a memory in Advent Children? 😏 hehe By inserting himself into the story early (to delay Cloud, so that he would not meet Aerith), he changes the whole timeline. That way, he is not just a memory of a boss we fought 23 years ago, but an actual threat to our party and our memories of the OG. Basically much more like the original then if they just recreated the original story 1 to 1. This is a genius move that will keep us talking and theorizing till the next one comes out. We‘ll see if the unknown story will pay of-though based on the love and passion of this game, I do not have doubts it will. Loved your reaction CrystAAHHL. Looking forward to part two.

Vincent Barriera I agree. AC is not a „good“ movie, yes. But come on, that fight scene between Croudo-kun and Seph-Dog was crazy nice. But as it stands now, technically all FF7 works are now canonical, just in a parallel or future timeline which may never come to pass again. That’s why we fought the three bad guys from AC in whisper form at the end and even killed them 😱 - so yes and no. Yes, AC exists because those three whispers from the future exist. But no, we killed them and defeated destiny, so there is no guarantee, that the events from AC will come to pass again. (Which of cause would mean that we‘ll have lost again at the end of Remake and I don‘t think that will happen) 😁

The 'Steel Sky' that she refers is the view from the 'sky' that she have when look up in the slums. The plate from sector 5 make her feel safe, because she hate the view of the real sky. Nothing to do with Zack.

I love the reactions Crystal, and have been waiting for your take for awhile now. My personal opinion is that the game is going to lead us on a journey to attempt to alter our destiny, and that is why we "defeat" the arbiters to give us home, but in the end I believe that the party will come to realize that they cannot prevent a certain character's death and that a certain character will still summon a cataclysmic even to try and destroy all of Gaia. Trying to stay spoiler-y free for those that don't know the story of 7

Aerith and sephiroth have their memories from the original game and know the outcome of the original story. This is a remake not a remaster so they changed the timeline so the new games following this one they can take in whatever direction they want, that’s why Zack lives, they changed their destiny and this is a new timeline.

Here's some shocking things about Zack Fair. Joined SOLDIER at 14. Zack made it to SOLDIER 3rd class at age 15. Zack made it to SOLDIER 2nd class Freshman at age 15. Zack made it to SOLDIER 2nd class Junior at age 16. A few months later he made it to SOLDIER 1st class. Age 16 all the SOLDIER members were shocked how Zack it to 1st class at that age. Zack became the SOLDIER operative leader after the Buster Sword was given to him. Age 17. Zack was knocked out by Sephiroth for 4 years. Zack died at age 21when Zack went to battle Shinra Army alone. Cloud joined AVALANCHE and bombs a Mako reactor Cloud's age: 20
