@@Aeroldoth3 basically because of the book. Remember it was because of the book's instructions Harry won the Felix which helped him get the memory. Also Harry learns some new spells from the book. Harry starts to think of the Prince as someone as sort of like a friend, so if feels like a bigger betrayal. Also when Harry discovers who delivered the prophecy, it doubles the betrayal of the Prince, almost makes it seem like Harry and Dumbledore were double-crossed by the same man. And Some other people also take some Felix during the battle at the end. Basically the significance of the title of this movie is never really explained. The HBP book did finally explain why the DADA position is always changing. When Voldemort was a student he asked the headmaster at the time if he could take the position when he graduated. The headmaster said he would but only after a few years and not directly after he graduated. When Voldemort did return, the headmaster had died and Dumbledore had become headmaster. Dumbledore knew he had ulterior motives and refused to give him to job. In a fit of anger, he put a curse on the position so that no one would have the job for more than a year until he got it.

The reason why Draco was chosen for the mission to kill Dumbledore was because it was a punishment from Voldemort to the Malfoy family because Lucius failed to get the prophecy for him and got himself locked up in Azkaban. Also the book is really different from the movie. The main point of the book was Voldemort's backstory and the flashbacks of him. The romance part wasn't even really a big thing in the book.

Exactly. They left out a lot of very important information only to fill the movie with teenage love drama. I hated it the first time I saw it, in time I kinda ended up accepting it. For what it is. The problem is that with all that information missing, there's just no way to finish this in two more movies without leaving some questions unanswered. Or leaving some situations ambiguous, kinda "make what you want of it". I know that they can't put in long dialogues, because there is this stupid dogma or "the pace of the movie" and the idea that millennials and post-millennials can't pay attention to human speech for more than a minute. But to me for all the saliva and the tears I think the snogging and the love drama is a lot more boring than letting Dumbledore reveal crucial information.

The relationship between Harry and Ginny is so much better in the books and doesn't feel weird or forced like in the movies. Ginny's character in the books has a lot more personality and she's really energetic and speaks a lot more than in the movies and she's just overall better written in the books. In the movies the writers just took the soul out of the character and made her really bland for some reason. the only reason the Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione pairings seem forced in the movies is because the writers didn't know the end of the series when they were making the films. the books develop the relationships a lot more, but the writers for the films made Hermione less flawed and more involved, shoving Ron's role to the side and positioning Harry and Hermione together more often, hence the predictions from people who watched the films that Harry and Hermione would end up together. the truth is, Ginny is an awesome character in the books and her crush on Harry is brought up several times, so this film had to play catch up to display Ginny more since it is in this book that Harry reciprocates these feelings.

Yep, this isn’t helped by the fact that the main writer of the scripts for all but one of the films like Harry and Hermione being together far more than the resulting couples, and so tried to leave out as much of the hints towards them as possible, at least until the books were finished and they were forced to acknowledge it.

Most of the child actors do reprise their roles throughout the series, and grow up on screen. Some were recast for various reasons, mostly around characters playing a much bigger role, and requiring an experienced actor. There is one sad one from this movie. There's a 6th year student called Marcus Belby (I think) at Slughorn's little get-together. The character is essentially an extra with a few lines. Unfortunately the actor playing him was caught up in an incident in London, where he tried to break up a fight, and got fatally stabbed. He never saw the release of this movie.

In the books Ginny serves as a replacement starting in the fifth year. There's even an interaction between Hermione, Fred & George, where they muse about HOW Ginny got so good considering they never let her practice at home with them. Hermione answers casually that Ginny has been magically swiping their brooms whenever they weren't paying attention for a couple of years now. And all they can say to that is "Yeah, I suppose that would explain that." They were more impressed with the fact that she had been getting away with it than they were angry about her using their stuff without asking.

Ginny, as well as some other classmates, have nearly as much weight as Ron and Hermione in the books. It isn't as purely "the trio" like it is in the films, which was obviously done for simplicity, even switching lines between characters sometimes just to bolster the characters actually in the film. But Ginny especially has a much greater presence in the books, and is actually REALLY awesome compared to her movie portrayal. And her and Harry's romance doesn't feel forced in the books, they have genuine chemistry and it's built up far more gradually. Also, if your favorite thing about these movies is feeling like you're actually seeing the characters grow up and change based on the experiences they go through, you should SERIOUSLY consider reading the books, because imo that's the best thing about them. Every character feels completely real, and their evolutions over time make perfect sense. It's wild seeing where things end up by the end because it could have only ever been that way by already having all the pieces in place in the earlier books. Characters don't just suddenly change for the convenience of the plot....instead the plot progresses in a way that makes perfect sense given the setting and characters you're following. It all just feels so real, like you could believe it all actually happened.
@txheadshots Жыл бұрын
Probably more to do with contracts for the actors more than simplicity... actor contracts are often very cognizant of how much they are going to be on screen, how many lines, etc.. and they get paid a commensurate amount based on those things. If they gave all the side characters more lines and more presence, they would have to pay them more - and by this point, especially, Radcliff/Watson/Grint were in demand and needed to be paid more.
@Lightning_Lance Жыл бұрын
@@txheadshots I think the bigger issue is how long these movies were. Personally I would have loved another half an hour or more on each of them, but you have to keep in mind what the general public is going to think when they see that a movie is 4-5 hours long in an 8-movie series. This happens to all great books and tv shows when they get turned into movies. It's not the action or the plot that makes us care about the characters, it's the slow scenes that do. But you can't skip the action or main plotlines when you make it into a movie, so often some of the best scenes get cut out of necessity. And the better the source material, the more great scenes need to be cut :/

The films never truly explain *why* Snape is the Half-Blood Prince. Snape was a Half-blood, son of a Muggle man with the surname Snape, who abandoned his mother, Eileen Prince, after discovering she was a witch; due to that, like Voldemort, he resented his Muggle father and all Mugglekind in general, and to dissociate himself from the Snape family, in his heart he gave himself a moniker: the Half-blood Prince, after his mother's maiden name. However, after being sorted into Slytherin, he was contaminated by Pure-blood supremacism, as his mother's Prince family was one of the 'Sacred Twenty Eight' pure-blood families of Death Eater ideology, he kept that moniker for himself and avoided bringing up his blood status, especially as he became a Death Eater himself.

I see your point about Harry and Hermione. I feel like the movies really try to make you root for them. The books are much clearer, however. Harry really sees Hermione as a bossy and nerdy but loveable older sister. The books are from his point of view and there really is never a point where he sees her as more than that. He doesn't think about girls much at all, in fact until Cho and then Ginny.

Tom Riddle was born from a muggle father under a love potion of Amortentia but when he sobered up after months and months or years he abandoned his mother in a cruel way so this is where he gets his hatter for muggles. I’ll also tell you that this birth made him super attractive to everyone in a very supernatural way which is nobody at school could refuse him and he could weasel his way through everything to get what he wants. Everyone fell for him. Especially the teachers but also the great historian Bathilda Bagshot. His aunty or great aunt. He wasn’t easy to resist. He quite literally openly despised muggles for what his muggle father did to her beyond breaking her heart like that potion sure but Rowling went into either in the books or the rest of the story was put on the original pottermore website etc When you see the x men movies the best character ever named Magneto(Eric) you'll see what I mean when I say he's like Salazar and honestly was loved by many. The films make Hermione much more special than what she is. You probably didnt buy that Harry had no feelings for Hermione because the script writer for the films would steal other characters moments to make her stand out waaaaay more. Even stealing moments from Ron and giving them to her. Goblet of Fire is the book where you can see Hermione and Ron have feelings for eachother but even the films kinda just…exclude it and have Hermione featured around Harry more than she actually was. In the Goblet of Fire book Harry even says when Ron was ignoring him that hanging around Hermione wasn’t nearly as fun or filled with nearly as many laughs. He views her as a best friend but not to THAT level since he prefers to be around Ron anyways. The films make it seem like Hermione is more closer to Harry when in reality its Ron who should be. In the books, its clear that Harry really just thinks of Hermione as “the best friend thats more like a sister”. They aren’t exactly super close but they are best friends. It’s mostly Ron and Hermione who have more moments together in the books so this ends up developing into them falling for eachother. But yeah blame the films since the screenwriter had this over obsession for giving moments from Ron and others to Hermione. Cuz now when you get to the later films where they HAVE to do the real pairings its like “well huh? Where was this set up?”

it's the misconception. actually, Rowling explained he was moreso incapable of understanding love naturally due to that. but the reason he turned out the way he did was because he grew up unloved, while a loving environment could've turned him out differently. something which i personally doubt, due to him being written perfectly as a psychopath from what i can tell.

I apologize if someone already explained this. You asked what made Voldemort/Riddle like this. They explained in the books. His mother was a witch who used a love potion to ensnare, marry, and conceive a baby (Voldemort) with Voldemort's Muggle father. When his mother stopped using the love potion, the father realized what happened, and left his family. So the (theory?) is that since he was conceived under a love potion, Voldemort cannot feel or experience love. His mother later dying (I think she just kind of gave up on life after her husband left?) and his ending up in an orphanage, probably didn't help either.

Ginny has been into Harry since Chamber of Secrets. If you remember in the beginning of that movie she couldn't even speak to Harry because she was crushing on him so hard. In years 3-5 she grows up a bit and starts to hang out with other guys after getting advice from Hermione, but she always liked Harry. In the books their relationship makes WAY more sense.
