Voldemort, Snape and Harry were equivalents of the Three Brothers in that tale in the previous film. Voldemort was the eldest brother, who died as a result of seeking power. Snape was the middle brother, who died as a result of unfulfilled love. Harry was the youngest brother, who accepted death when the right time came. And Dumbledore was Death, who led the first two brothers towards their ends, and whom the third brother "greeted as an old friend."

Sorry, but Dumbledore was never "Death," nor did he ever succeed at becoming a Master of Death. Like Grindelwald, he was fascinated with all three Hallows, but having lost loved ones sooner than expected (both parents and his younger sister), Albus desired the Resurrection Stone most of all. That particular Hallow also happened to be found on a Horcrux ring, which Dumbledore managed to destroy with Gryffindor's Sword, but not before being tempted to put the ring on, which gave him a terminal curse in his hand that would have finished him off had Snape not bought him more time (23:36 - "Maybe a year"). Snape, meanwhile, may have lost a girl in his lifetime just like the second brother, and in the end may have given his life out of love (at the hands of the same wizard who killed her, no less), but he never knew the purpose of the Resurrection Stone, much less would have benefited from it. The people whom Harry brings back had all died fighting for something, and gave him the encouragement to greet death as a friend, which is what a true "Master of Death" does. Furthermore, what Lily Potter had done for her son Harry, he passed on to everyone he ever cared for - protection against Voldemort.

Remember, he won the Elder Wand from Grindelwald, James Potter gave him the Cloak of Invisibility, and he got the Resurrection Stone when he was looking for Horcruxes, putting it in the Snitch. Maybe he didn’t have all of them at once, but he did have all three of them.

@@chrisking6667 for real; what sads me the most is what is left behind from the past of no only Snape, but also James, Sirius, Lupin and Peter. The story of the friendship of those 4 is simply amazing. In the film they never say that Sirius, James and Peter literally become animagus to help Lupin and his werewolf curse (werewolves are not hostile towards animals unless provoked so they all roamed together during full moons). This makes Peter's betrayal soooooo much worse. I think that Sirius is maybe the character who has the most saddening story of all: not only one his best friend betrays him; he loses his best friend because of it. AND then he gets blamed for it. Damn.

It was more than just a thank you. Narcissa knew that the only way to keep Draco truly safe was for Voldermort to die, and the best chance of that happening was Harry Potter. In the dark forest surrounded by death eaters, Harry would have been taken out for good in no time. She lied to give Harry a chance to escape once Voldermort took him back to Hogwarts.

If you take careful note of Snape's brief "battle" with McGonagall, you might catch that he deflected the spells to hit the Carrows. Then, before he fled, he took both their wands. Subtlety was Snape's strong suit.

So just to clear things up, Dumbledore doesn’t care less than Snape. Dumbledore told Snape about Harry’s upcoming death and was trying to point out that Snape was getting angry about someone he professed to hate. Snapes Patronus was meant to convey that while he didn’t hate Harry, he was doing all of this because of his love for Lily. Which is the significance of his response “Always…”.

Yes, it was meant as a comment from Dumbledore to prove that Snape does care, not that Dumbledore doesn’t. I think Dumbledore wanted Snape to see this. Dumbledore has always loved Harry and could admit it, unlike Snape.

Dumbledore prepared Harry. Harry could have ran away but he accepted that it need to be done. Harry’s sacrifice (like the one his mother did) is that protects everyone from Voldemort. That’s why Voldemort’s silencing charm over the crowd wouldn’t work well.

For reference Snape and Harry did "fight" in Half Blood Prince and Snape deflected every spell then knocked Harry back without breaking a sweat. And when Snape and McGonical "fought" he chose not to strike her, and in fact knocked out the death eaters in the back. Like... Snape is pretty much the strongest sorcerer at Hogwarts after Dumbledoor dies... He just chooses not to fight every one he sees

I mean it's a known fact that the only one who is capable of unsupported flight other than Voldemort is Snape, and also that Snape created several spells while he was a student, and we also know that even though it was portrayed as a one sided bullying in the movies, in the books it's clear that it was a back and forth between him and the Marauders. 1v4. And out of these 4 3 was strong enough to be main members of the OG Order of Phoenix. I think this showcases how strong Snape actually is.

I think the books dropped a lot more hints at Snape's motivations so it was clear why a lot earlier. The fact that he was so overtly Death Eater material, but Dumbledore trusted him absolutely, more than pretty much anyone spoke volumes. Arguably the only way you could ever trust someone to be that loyal to you is if you know they could never, ever be on the other guy's side. The books made it clear Snape always loved Lily and we know Voldemort killed her, it isn't rocket science to understand why Snape is with Dumbledore.

People who have not read the books always confuse that part...Dumbledore isn't saying that he does not care about Harry. He's simply asking Snape if he's grown to care about Harry. His response wasn't to say yes but rather to show his Patronus...which is a Doe, the same as Lily's was. The reason for that is because he loved her and always will. He's protected Harry out of devotion to Lily...not because he secretly cares about Harry. Remember, as an adult and an authority figure he bullied Lily's son for six years simply because his appearance reminded him of James. Snape certainly was complicated. He wasn't exactly a paragon of virtue but he wasn't evil either. He got in with the wrong crowd at school and was headed down a dark road but love redeemed him and helped him find a better path. He was a brave man to the last...but certainly had a boat load of character defects as well. Its his conflicted nature that makes him such a believable, and in the end a great character.

If you’re wondering how Harry survived at the Forbidden Forest by Voldemort, it’s actually explained and answered in the final book. In Limbo, Dumbledore says it has nothing to do with the Deathly Hallows or the Horcrux taking a bullet for him. It was the love protection Lilly gave him when she sacrificed herself to save her son. The protection was supposed to go away when Harry turned 17 and no longer live with his Aunt Petunia who shared her sister’s blood, but it didn’t. This is because Voldemort used Harry’s blood to come back in the Goblet of Fire. Dumbledore says; “His body keeps her sacrifice alive and while that enchantment survives, so do you.” So because Voldemort put Harry’s blood into his new body, the love protection lived on inside of himself. Therefore continuing Lilly’s protection for Harry, which is why he survived. Love is not only the most powerful emotion but also the most powerful magic in the universe to the point where not even Death can touch it.

Dumbledore did care for Harry very much. He wasn't happy or apathetic about Harry having to die. He just didn't want to hear flak about it from Snape of all people. For six years Dumbledore had to tell Snape to stop being so mean to Harry, and he listened as Snape complained about Harry. Dumbledore was really manipulative towards Snape. Snape sacrificed the whole last 16 years of his short life to the fight against Voldemort, had to be a double agent which was a massive risk for him and surely made him suffer through Voldemort's cruel punishments several times, all for the skake of keeping Lily's son alive. Only for Dumbledore to go "hey btw, all of that was bs, he's actually going to die, I just didn't bother to tell you". The way he treated Snape was absolutely cruel. But of course it wasn't out of maliciousness but for the greater good which is the whole point of Dumbledore's character. He also must've realized that Voldemort would eventually try and kill Snape believing him to be the owner of the Elderwand. So by asking Snape to kill him instead of letting Draco do it he basically led him to his death as well, just like he did Harry. And I'm sure Severus realized that too. But then it's not like Dumbledore ever cared much about Snape.

Dumbledore had more information he was withholding about the situation than Snape. He couldn't tell Snape in case Voldemort tested him. Dumbledore did know that Voldemort couldn't kill Harry but Harry did have to face death. Dumbledore knew things had to go the way things went, but he could manipulate certain things so that it didn't go the way Voldemort wanted and in the end Voldemort doomed himself.

I’m sure someone mentioned this but… Narcissa Malfoy, when tasked to see if Harry was actually ‘dead,’ no longer cared if Voldemort won or not. It shows again that love is the strongest, especially for a mother. She loved Draco, but he was in the castle, and she was with the Death Eaters. So the only way she could get to her son was to pretend to be part of a ‘conquering army.’ That’s why she asked Harry if Draco was alive, and when being told he was, she lied about Harry still being alive.

At 22:40 what many people fail to overlook when Dumbledore asks Snape that question that’s not to say that Dumbledore never cared for Harry in fact, Dumbledore cared for Harry a great deal, but that question that Dumbledore asked Snape was a direct reference to Snape and his past history regarding Harry plus on top of all that, while Dumbledore did care about Harry a great deal I believe he also had the understanding of doing what had to be done, regardless of how others perceived it.

FUN FACT: Many people never understood why the snitch said “I open at the close.” Obviously its a riddle but its also linguistic poetry. “I open” meaning to reveal the secrets within, and at the close is the part thats poetry. People read it as “cloze” because the word “open” cleverly tricks your brain into thinking the opposite of open. (Which would be to close with a z pronunciation). But its actually meant to be read as “close” with an s. “I open at the moment youre close to death.” I assume acknowledging that moment “Im ready to die” spoken by Harry was was unlocked the enchantment. A cool enchantment made by Dumbledore to prepare Harry for a moment set in prophecy. Edit: Feel free to ask me questions about the story if you have any.

I love reading and rereading the books. There are SO MANY little hints and clues hidden throughout all the books, even in book 1 there are sentences that sound completely innocent that directly hints towards stuff happening as late as the end of the very last book in the series. There are so many little gems like that hidden that you will only pick up on if you have already seen the movies/read the books, which makes it super fascinating to read the books several times. I've read them 30+ times already since they came out, and I'm STILL picking up on new little easter eggs to this day.

For those of you that have watched the Harry Potter movies more than once. You can notice moments were Snape was helping Harry, and was the good guy. The part where he and McGonagall fight. He doesn’t do any spells to try and hurt her. He deflects her spells at him, and also uses two of her attacks to hit two death eaters. Also, I don’t think you noticed, but the deer Petronius, that lead Harry to the lake, where the sword was, was Snape’s Petronius. He sent it to help Harry find the sword.

31:57 Yes, Hedwig flew between Harry and an Avada Kedavra (unforgivable killing curse) to save him while they were flying as the Seven Potters, catching a bullet so to speak. Hedwig is definitely dead. That loyalty of the owl is what also gave away to the Death Eaters who the real Harry among the seven is. I figured you'd enjoy finding out Snape was a double agent that whole time, spying for Dumbledore among the rows of Voldemort. And that they planned for Snape to do the deed. Hence the binding promise was no problem for Snape - to protect Draco Malfoy and kill Dumbledore in case Draco can't just like Dumbledore and him planned in advance. They found a way to give Draco an exit. Voldemort never was fully aware of the deathly Hollows or how they work so he didn't understand the rules as to the allegiance of the Elder Wand. All he knew is that it was a powerful wand and he misunderstood the concept by thinking it only changes loyalty when someone kills the previous owner. He didn't know that disarming is enough and that the allegiance was swapped from Dumbledore via Malfoy to Harry by disarming (Malfoy disarmed Dumbledore and Harry disarmed Voldemort merely holding the Elder Wand bound to Malfoy [notice how Snape fed Voldemort the false info that it will obey him?] still so the allegiance jumped from Malfoy onto Harry). Snape really is the MVP besides Dumbledore in all this. And he did all cuz he loved Lilly Potter so much and genuinely cared for Harry. He just didn't show it until the very end because he hated his Dad for being a bully. But in his dying moments he wanted Harry to know by seeing his memories. As we learned, killing a person destroys your soul part by part. Horcruxes are the only way to preserve that part of your soul - otherwise, it's just gone and you become less and less human. If you review the entire thing, you see that Harry used Expelliarmus as his signature spell that entire time - to keep his soul intact. That's how he won ultimately. An intact soul is much more guaranteed to master wizardry. It was the important life lesson for Harry that Dumbledore ingrained in him from the get-go. Never kill. :) And exactly like you said, at that moment Harry defeated Voldemort (he disarmed him, Voldemort died because he had no soul pieces / Horcruxes left) had all the three Deathly Hollows in his possession and was Master of Death for a brief instance. He did decide that nobody should be that powerful for that power might tempt you to go to the dark side. Hence he breaks the Elder Wand. Dumbledore and Grindelwald were obsessed with the Deathly Hollows (whereas Dumbledore had pure intentions and wanted to have the Hallwos serve the greater good while Grindelwald was more of obsessed with being powerful). So in some way, Harry resisted a temptation even Dumbledore couldn't.

One thing I desperately wish they had put into the movie was Harry’s speech to Voldemort before they duel. The way he explains that Voldemort literally made the same mistake he made by killing Lilly, and that Harry has protected everyone by dying to protect them is amazing. The fact that he fixes his own wand with the elder wand should have been included too. Still one of the best HP movies

33:40 Dumbledore was the only one who knew the full prophecy from Trelawny. So he did in fact train Harry to be able to defeat Voldemort but he knew from day 1 that it will probably kill Harry in the process. The second he was sure that Harry himself was a Horcrux, he knew he most definitely had to die. So yes, he never got too attached to Harry. You just don't get attached to someone who you will raise to sacrifice himself to rescue the entire wizarding world. That would just risk that Dumbledore might want to stop Harry when it matters. He put his plan and the greater good first. The king (Dumbledore is masterminding how to defeat Voldemort) doesn't get attached to the peasant he needs to sacrifice to win in chess in the long run. ;)

Actually, Dumbledore did become quite attached to Harry. This is explained in the 5th book after Sirius dies. Harry and Dumbledore talk in his office. But he was also smart enough to realize that one life does not trump everyone else's life, even if you care about that one life a lot. Besides, by the end of the 4th book Dumbledore knows that if he manipulates situations just right, Harry might be able to survive and until then he had no hope that it could be done. He figures this out when Harry tells Dumbledore that Voldemort used his blood to revive himself. It's actually an amazing scene.

Severus didn't actually kill Dumbledore. It was the fall that killed Dumbledore. One of the things that the fake Moody told the students when he taught them about the Unforgivable Curses was that, in order for them to truly work, you really have to mean them with your whole heart. Snape didn't mean it with his whole heart, but it needed to be done for the little performance that they were putting on for the death eaters who were there. And, hey, from their perspective, Snape cast the spell and Dumbledore died. Therefore, Snape was the one who killed Dumbledore. No need to think about the fact that the body-bind curse on Harry didn't break until Dumbledore had time to fall and hit the ground, rather than giving way as soon as the spell was cast. Snape really is one of the most tragic characters in the series, and I love that Alan Rickman got to do him justice. As for Hedwig, yes. She was killed _right_ up front during the escape from Privet Drive. That death, and about 90% of the deaths in this book/these two movies honestly do so much more to piss me off than to make me legitimately sad. The deaths just feel... rushed. Half-assed. Both Remus and Tonks? Hate that. Fred? Nope. I don't mind the goblins dying so much, because they were very happy to screw over the main characters, even knowing that their goal was to stop Voldemort. Still, so much of it feels like Rowling just kind of... wanted to go out with a body count, because that's what she decided, not because it felt right. I've got a lot of issues with how Rowling handled the story, and how she's behaving now. I think the fame has gone to her head, and it isn't doing well by her. On top of that, I highly recommend watching The Super Carlin Brothers' "What if Harry had been in Slytherin" series, because it shows how differently the story could have gone with a bit more creativity on the author's part. But no, she had "Gryffindor are the good guys, Slytherins are the bad guys, and Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are just... kind of there," and that's it. It's also one of the things that I really enjoy about the Hogwarts Legacy game (which you should 100% play), because the cast of characters that you interact with are significantly more diverse, with major characters from all of the houses, representing an infinitely more diverse cast than Rowling gave us. I think it has really done them well that Rowling really... just wasn't involved in the game's creation, leaving the creative team with a significantly greater degree of freedom to make a more rounded narrative. I'm not just bashing Rowling because it is "fashionable" to bash her, I was uncomfortable with creative decisions that had been made in the stories even as I was reading them growing up. It probably didn't help matters that I had authors like Neil Gaiman showing me so much more of what was possible in storytelling, who have in turn been significant influences for my own writing since. Heck, in his Masterclass, Gaiman talks about how when he is writing stories, one of his biggest priorities is to listen to the characters and let them help guide how they act and what they do. I've realized that I've taken that kind of approach to characters for a long time now. Rowling feels like an author who came up with "her" grand plan, and didn't allow herself the flexibility to let the characters help to guide her. She's a planner, rather than an organic writer. Heck, I believe she's even said that she had the whole series planned out from the start, which doesn't surprise me, given how it all went. In any event, I do apologize for the essay XD I will say that I've loved watching your reactions, and I'm glad that you've enjoyed the movies so much. I hope you take me up on some of my suggestions, but whatever else, keep having fun, and never let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't enjoy. None of what I've said is intended to detract from your enjoyment, just to express why I... could have enjoyed the stories more on a personal level XD

Because he didn't get the love he wanted. he's the sociopathic stalker who literally joins a "kill the world" cult because his object of obsession chose another. Then when his cult killed the object of his obsession (shocker, killing the world meant killing his love! lohsers are lohsers, oh well) he betrayed his cult and wanted to go back to the normal side of the aisle. Except in a deleted scene, we see it's an actual dungeon. Which makes me lose a lot of respect for McGonagall (in the movie version, at least), because she basically just trapped hundreds of children in a castle under attack so they can't escape to safety...because ONE of them was on the wrong side.

Kunia dear, it's very easy to misunderstand the whole Dumbledore-Snape-Harry situation from the movies alone. The fact of the matter is that with all due respect, Snape hated Harry's guts all along, he bullied him every bit as much as he himself was bullied by James. And yet he lived and died protecting him because all he wanted is to make sure Lily, his great love didn't die in vain. Harry dropped the Resurrection Stone because he didn't need it anymore. He only used it to make his own sacrifice easier. He didn't "bring back" his loved ones, they came to fetch him. As for Dumbledore, he was several steps ahead of everyone else. He made sure that Voldemort can never kill Harry, in more than one way. He intended to be killed by Snape while still having the Elder Wand. Since his death was agreed between them, the wand's power would have died with him, because it was never taken from him against his will. That bit didn't work out because Draco disarmed Dumbledore. And then when he found out at the and of Goblet of Fire that Voldemort took Harry's blood, he knew that he had won the war. Voldemort took inside his body a tiny part of Lily's protection and kept it alive. Meaning, that he became the only person in the universe who couldn't possibly kill Harry. Wen he cast the killing curse, he only managed to kill that part of his soul But he had to keep this a secret, Harry had to go to the forest intending to die, knowing that he will die and not defending himself. By doing so, by sacrificing himself to save everyone else at Hogwarts, he did for them what Lily did for him: they were all protected from Voldemort from that moment on.

Narcissa's only concern was for her son, Draco, and she knew that the only way to get into the castle to get her son was to lie and say that Harry was dead. Also, the thing with the Elder wand is that it was always a myth that to be the master of the wand you had to kill the previous owner, but instead all that need be done was to win it from the previous owner for the wand to change its allegiance.

I'm not sure if it were a myth, or just people not understanding wand lore. I can't recall it being mentioned in the movies, but in the books they mention the fact that Grindelwald stole it from Gregorovitch, without Gregorovitch having been killed. But they did make sure that they showed how Malfoy's wand had shifted allegiance, as a way of setting the precedence for winning the wand over, and also setting up the elder wand and Harry.

In the books...Harry uses the Elder Wand to repair his Original broken wand and then returns the Elder Wand to Dumbledore's grave....Harry' original wand was very powerful with a perfect wielder like Harry himself...made of Holly (type of wood) and Phoenix feather as the core...Holly is one of the rarer kind of Wand Woods which is traditionally considered protective, it worked most happily for those who might need help overcoming a tendency to anger and impetuosity. The movie left out a lot on Snape and Lily's relationship. Snape loved Lily, but she never returned his feelings, and they drifted apart over the years as Snape got more involved with the Dark Arts. He willingly joined Voldemort because he believed in Voldemort's cause of pure blood superiority, and he thought Lily would be impressed with him becoming a Death Eater. He chose the Dark Arts over her, which was what ultimately destroyed their friendship. He continued to love her though and only switched sides to protect Harry since that also meant protecting Lily. He actually hated Harry because he reminded him that he lost her to James and he blamed Harry for his mother's death because she sacrificed herself to save him, but he remained on Dumbledore's side to honor her memory of what she died for.

And while he does reprimand one of Dumbledore's portraits for saying that word later, that's only out of respect for Lily, not because his opinion towards them changed. He also confessed that he was willing to sacrifice Harry and James to keep Lily alive, and CC reveals that he never even wanted to stop Voldemort, just keep Lily safe since he said that he spent most of his life fighting for Lily's cause that he "might have" started to believe in it, which shows where his opinions really stand. People keep seeming to forget all this and just focus on the fact that he loved Lily and nothing else.

Everyone always says it when they meet Harry, to the point where he expects it, but when Snape gives his memories to Harry and looks at him as he is dying, it’s the first time Snape says “you have your mother’s eyes.” The last thing that Severus Snape saw before he died was Lily’s eyes.

The Patronus (spell that scares off Dementors) is explained in the book as reflecting one’s personality it can change to match another Patronus of the one we love. Lily’s Patronus was a doe… So when Dumbledore asks: “Lily… After all this time?”. He’s really asking: “You still love her, after all this time?”. To which Snape replies with the line that will always send shivers down my spine. Once you know this context. “Always”. Also Remus made Harry Godfather of his son. 26:57 She knew the only way to get to her son would be as one of the “victorious” Death Eaters showing off to the battle survivors. 27:55 most people forget: only a true Gryffindor can pull the sword of Godric Gryffindor out of the sorting hat. And one last thing I recommend checking out the book version of the final battle. My father will never shut up about it. I won’t spoil it, just enjoy it.

I've never watched anyone's reactions to Harry Potter, except for yours. Was so excited every time I saw that you had uploaded the next reaction. I saw every movie on opening night in the theater. It's my favorite franchise of all time. I'm not a big reader but I read the books when they came out. The movies are incredible, but the books delve into everything SO. MUCH. MORE. It's not as confusing as the movies can make things out to be. The books go into so much detail. So hopefully you'll want to read the books and REALLY fall in love with these characters. And yes, Hedwig died there. Out of all the deaths in the entire series, Hedwig's was my hardest for me (I remember throwing the book when I read it.) So thank you for reacting to these movies! I'm so glad you're now a fan of the Wizarding World (which is so much bigger than they even show in the HP films)!

Unfortunately, the movie gives you only 50% of Snapes story. A lot more happens during their time at Hogwarts that you don't see in the movie. Snape falls in with the Death Eater crowd and that upsets Lily because they think Muggleborns are trash. Then later, Snape calls her a Mudblood in front of his friends.

Actually when Snape and McGonagall are fighting you can tell that he's not shooting anything at her, he's actually defending himself while also simultaneously rebounding the attacks at the carrow siblings which is why they get taken out

2 things about snape. 1. When McGonagall was attacking him in the great hall he only used defensive spells, and when he fled he picked up the other death eaters' wands. 2. Patronuses can change if you have an extreme shift in emotional feelings. In this case it changed because of Snape's strong love for Lily. Lily's changed to James' patronus and Snape's changed to her's.

I will admit that Snape's redemption is handled much better in the movies than in the books. However something that isn't handled as well in the movies is the fact that from the end of Goblet Of Fire onwards Dumbledore knew Voldemort wouldn't be able to kill Harry. In the book when Harry tells Dumbledore that Voldemort used his blood on the night he returned he thinks he sees triumph flash across Dumbledore's eyes for a split second. Later on when Harry visits Dumbledore in the afterlife Dumbledore explains that because Voldemort did that he kept Lily's protective charm alive. And the reason why Harry wasn't allowed to know about this was because of the fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself did the same thing. After Harry comes back nothing Voldemort does can hurt anyone because Harry sacrificed himself. And in the books when Dumbledore sarcastically asks Snape if he's grown to care for the boy Snape shouts "Care for the boy?!" In outrage before casting the patronus revealing that he cared about Lily. It's a little more vague in the movies so there is more room for his redemption but in the books Snape is completely unredeemable.

This was an amazing reaction! As much as I love the movies, the books are so much better in my opinion. There's so much depth and you really FEEL like you're in the universe. Also the movies do my favorite character (Ron) so dirty, he's an AMAZING character in the books. If you aren't a big reader, then you should check out the Stephen Fry audiobooks, they're a great time!

The words Harry says to his son, "Albus Severus Potter, you were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin, and he was the bravest man I ever knew." is my favorite line in the entire franchise. It showed how much of an impact both Dumbledore and Snape had on Harry and how much he respected both men. After that, it's Molly Weasley going off on Bellatrix: "Not my daughter you b*tch!"

A lot of people get confused by the scene after Harry "dies". Nacrissa (Malfoy's mom) was asking Harry if Draco was alive, and since Harry saved him in the Room of Requirement he was able to truthfully tell her that he was safe. She could tell he was alive due to his heartbeat, but she no longer wanted anything besides being with her son. So she lied to Voldemort, someone who can typically tell if someone is lying, all so she could get to Hogwarts and escape with her son. Also, the way Harry survives is due to Voldemort using Harry's blood in his revival in the 4th chapter. This essentially makes Voldemort a horcrux for Harry, so no matter how many times Voldemort used the killing curse on him it would have no effect. Similarly, when Harry sacrificed himself in the forest he cast the same protection over the entire school that his mom cast over him. There's a whole scene in the books where Harry explains this to him and is basically taunting him.
