Got to admit, I kind of miss the days when Kingdom Hearts was relegated to an obscure little corner of the Disneyverse and really had to work hard to find ways to honor its inspiration within the narrow scope of the properties they were licensed to work with. Chernabog, the gargoyle guy you fought, is a figure from the Fantasia film. He was a figure during the Night on Bald Mountain short. He is basically Disney's version of Satan and was the original planned final boss of the game back when it was planned to be a straight platformer starring Mickey. His lore is: a demon who lives within the Earth's crust, arises once a year on Walpurgisnacht (Witch's Night) and is only able to be defeated by the holy light of dawn forcing him back to his pit.

I don’t really like the narrative that Kairi “friend-zoned” Sora. I mean, of course they have feelings for each other. But they’ve also been friends for ten years. They LIKE being friends with each other. They’re both kind of shy about confessing their feelings, and it’s tragic that they keep getting separated before they can take that step, but I don’t get the sense that Sora feels like Kairi owes him a romantic relationship. In my opinion the “friend zone” is such an awful concept.

@@acehealer4212 I absolutely think they love each other- again, hardcore Sorikai shipper here, and Sokai is one leg of that- but their relationship is VERY complicated; a lot more than people give it credit for. The KH3 paopu scene especially could mean _so_ many things. They finally do the deed, as it were, but Sora seems unsure, and Kairi seems to have a thing about wanting things to just go back to the way they were- the “Sora, don’t ever change” line lives in my head rent-free, especially ‘cause it’s the last thing Kairi says to Sora before the Night of Fate, which I think causes Sora to internalize a lot of his most self-destructive mindsets that he puts himself into for Kairi’s sake- and I think Sora’s kinda uncomfortable with that. God, I could go on for ages analyzing Sokai and its complexities. I’ll leave it at “I want them to kiss, and also to hurt each other a little, but mostly to kiss”.

I honestly hope to see you continue the Re Chain of Memories gameplay, mainly to see you fight the key story bosses in it that aren't just memories. Those bosses have some awesome moves... if you don't just cancel them with 0 cards. XD Personally, I prefer to just dodge most of those attacks to save up my cards. There's only a few moves that outright need you to use a 0 Card on, honestly. Most can be dodged if you know what you're doing, thus reserving your cards for attacking and not just cancelling moves.

The ending of this game is so bittersweet. In general I think Kingdom Hearts is good at capturing the complicated feelings kids and teenagers often have. Someday you won’t be a child anymore. Sometimes you have to say goodbye to good friends. Maybe you will even have a falling out with your best friend. All that really sucks. But KH is also very reassuring about that kind of stuff. It says, “Even if you are apart from those you love, you’re always connected.” That’s how I interpret the story, anyway.

@@Adrian-qr6gk The Ark (forgot it w as s called that) is explored in Union X, referenced in 3, and also referenced in Melody of Memories. I think you can Google it since the Union X story is hard to keep track of what happens in which episode/mission. Otherwise see below for spoilers.. It's a time travel device meant to send hearts into the future. Certain people in the Union X era use it to reach different points in the present. There were seven pods. Maleficent used one to get to the kingdom hearts 2 present after she was beaten in 1. Ventus also used 1, and Terranort placed Kairi in one sometime before BBS. We dont know who the other 4 were used by just yet but its suspected 3 are: Skuld Luxu The Master

Just got back home from work JUST in time to witness my man deebee upload a video concluding the KH1 story. And ho boy! what a ride its been! My man got to finally hear and witness Ansems Legendary "all worlds begin in darkness" speech. God i love that speech to this day. and your reaction to seeing King Micky. It was the exact same reaction i had when i was a kid. EXACTLY the same. im so happy you got to share this kingdom hearts experience. This goes without saying but you are the purest fan out of all of us. You get to see the game for the first time. and i am jealous of that! in a good way of course! Im so giddy to see your journey of this series (If you continue it of course. Kingdom hearts story line is a LOOOOOONNNGG story.) also "im not crying your crying" Dont worry, with the rest of the games you get used to crying and no longer start telling others they are crying lmao. Kingdom hearts 2 Made me cry the hardest for...various reasons. In time im sure you will find out why!

Dee Bee, make sure you watch the secret endings if you aren't going to complete Jiminy's Journal. There's two of them in KH1: one is called "Another Side, Another Story" and the other one is called "Deep Dive". These are both hugely important for the future of the series so check them out before starting Chain of Memories!

Kingdom Heart is bizzare, overcomplicated, melodramatic.... and yet it will still hit you in the feels when you aren't looking by just being so damn earnest and sincere about it. Then it brings out something as epic as a duel against Sephiroth, or teaming up with Mickey Mouse to make something truly unique and amazing. And the ride is just getting started!

Im so happy i never beat this game as a kid. I played this when i was like 5, i was so emotionally invested in finding Riku and Kairi. If i saw that ending with Riku in the realm of darkness and Sora and Kairi being separated, especially with the cave drawing at the end which is basically confessing feelings for eachother. Bro... my emo phase would have started 10 years earlier hahaha

Dee Bee it's amazing that you complete the first game, this one is pretty special for me, I saw your stream of Chain of Memories too and it was fun to watch, I bet you wanna discover all of the game by yourself but I have one advice for you, don't turn all your cards on premium, don't make the same mistake that I did turning all the cards on premium cause in battle when you use all the cards and want to reload the deck you will not have any card left, premium cards can only be use one time and cannot be reloaded again in battle, you can have some premium cards to make space in the deck but make sure to have your normal cards so you can reload your deck in battle.

After killing Ansem and the worlds being restored, you thought there was going to be more? Kairi, like everyone else in Traverse Town, were restored to their world's that were lost. Sora restored the worlds so Traverse Town was no longer needed. Or were you asking DeeBee so he would pay attention to that when it gets explained in later games??? But I'm pretty sure both Leon and Aerith talked about this in KHI, when they said they would never see Sora again. Right???
