@@MsTinkerbelle87 so I'm still trying to find out if it was real but there were some leaked sessions on tik tok at some point that have since been taken down but it was crazy hearing the way the "the-rapist" was speaking to this woman. There are a lot of fake ones so I'm sure it was some sort of trolling effort but I gotta say it didn't sound very far off from what I've heard from any real patients. It was gnarly.

It's also telling as she kept going on in the beginning about how beautiful the area is... And yet that area didn't reveal how deadly it could be... Possibly a mirror to Janet and Kenneth, two innocent looking people that no one would expect. Instead they look at the crazy guy.

There was a line from Davis that foreshadowed her death. Can't remember it, but it was when he first told Pia about Ader. Something about chalking up the murders to the tourist who tripped and fell in the streams. Except in Davis's case, he probably chalked up Pias death to his mother. It's not like he saw her trip and fall, and she promptly assumed Pia got away to rat her out.
@lilymarianna8776
@lilymarianna8776 Жыл бұрын
Yup, I noticed that, too 😊
@rakijr9176

But then why would the mother kill herself? I assume Pia's body was recovered in the stream otherwise she would've been classified as missing and not dead. Had the mother actually killed her, she would've made up a lie about Pia going outside and disappearing instead of leaving the tapes and committing suicide. Also, something that bothered me is that it's kind of unrealistic that a serial killer would just leave bulletproof evidence of their murders out in their living room when (I assume) they still regularly received guest.
@WrathOfTheShaft
@WrathOfTheShaft Жыл бұрын
@rakijr9176 she killed herself because Pia watched the tapes and when she went looking for her she couldn't find her. I assume she assumed she got away to tell Davis what she saw, so went home and killed herself right away. I disagree, Davis said in the beginning that his mother was lonely and didn't get many guests. Also, serial killers often leave mementos and other evidence in easily found places.
@rakijr9176
@rakijr9176 Жыл бұрын
@@WrathOfTheShaft No I mean from Davis' point of view his mother killing herself wouldn't make any sense if she truly did kill Pia. You wouldn't murder somebody to keep your crimes a secret and then kill yourself (because you would've gotten away with it). Your right on the second point. I guess I forgot that he said she didn't receive many guests.

I thought Stuart's father is going to murder Davis at the hospital. But he warns Davis to stop this film because of "the things that he knows". He sounded like a sad old grumpy man. But in reality, he was the most relatable. He didn't want to destroy Davis's life. But in the end, his protest didn't work out. It was his gf and his friend that persuaded him to make this. Moral of the Story: Its not the plot twist. It's about how true crime destroys people's lives just like Davis. Now Davis will never become a filmmaker or get a good job. He will always have to live his life in a sad way doing ordinary stuff and making quick bucks on interviews. He will never be remembered for talent except his parents were serial killers.

Sierra the problem is Black mirror is no longer sci-fi. It's fantasy. Werewolves and demons etc. It's just not Black mirror anymore. I don't know why this happens to Great sci-fi shows! Literally out of nowhere after a few seasons of being straight science fiction suddenly these switch to fantasy. 🙄 Can you imagine if they did this with any other genre? Can you imagine if they took a great horror series like Haunting of Hill House and then suddenly season 3 with no explanation it becomes a romantic comedy?!?? It's ridiculous! It's not even Black mirror anymore. The thing is I feel like the episodes in season weren't bad they just weren't Black mirror. If they had created a new show and said from the creators of Black mirror comes a new fantasy anthology I probably would have loved to the show. But as it is I am extremely disappointed. We're here for Sci-fi, THAT is what the whole show is about! It's about the dangers of technology, that's what the name of the show Black mirror means! It's a reference to us constantly staring into our cell phones which are a Black mirror. It's about the dangers of technology and all of them feel realistic for the most part. It feels like with technology developing as it is that these are possible futures. But suddenly this season 0-1 movie stars are werewolves, a girl finds a cursed object, true crime
@notyourtherapist21
@notyourtherapist21 Жыл бұрын
@@WhitneyDahlin While I do see where you're coming from, I don't fully agree with your take. See, the whole point of black mirror, in my opinion, is not "technology bad, man good". The first episode itself, there was no cutting-edge, science fiction type thing involved. That Waldo episode too. I think that it has always been an observation of human psychology, and how it can corrupt something that is meant to make your life easier, because that is how we are. Technological advancements, as portrayed in most of the episodes, are just a means to the end,they aren't the driving plots of the stories. It is us, our behaviour, and our corruption that is being questioned. So I actually kind of don't mind the occasional shift from science fiction to supernatural stories as much ig. Sorry for the rant :)

I feel like Davis suspected his parents.. could be wrong, but a few clues are how distant he was from his mom, living away, not consoling her when she cried about his dad. Also not feeling any sadness about his dad. Also being reluctant to do a movie about the story in the first place. Also it feels unlikely he wouldn't have stumbled on any of her memorabilia throughout the years.

Also do we think the Mum was getting ready to kill Pia? lots of weird talk about her food, and a lot of focus on the shepherd's pie she was making... idk.. it seemed weird (the tension between her and Pia) ... do we think maybe she wanted Pia to "go missing" or something and was planning on keeping her hostage for a kill

i’ve seen someone else mention that the mother potentially had a fetish for tourists and when she first meets Pia she asks her if she’s purely American and tells her that she likes her accent so i believe she definitely would’ve killed her as from her note left for Davis (and the way she reminisced over the photos her and her husband took of the victims) she essentially didn’t regret anything she did

I genuinely don’t think she would’ve killed Pia until she realized Pia knew. The mom enjoyed torturing and killing, but I also think it’s something she enjoyed doing with her husband! Think about it, they liked including other people in their “kink” so doing it alone I don’t think she would’ve found much joy in. Had Pia stayed cool, I think she would’ve been fine…but I understand panicking cuz that video was WILD and it was the first time she’d been alone with his mom.

The Titanic submersible accident happening so close to season 6 being released is so ironic. There is a documentary that was filmed of the accident this week, announced onn the day of this video releasing (when the people on board were meant to run out of oxygen) and is released today, the day they died for certain. It's crazy how bloodsucking media companies are but unsurprising. And the victims' morbid curiosity over the experience of dying people in an entertainment tye lense.. I can't help but draw parallels to Pia who was the most obsessed to know and got exactly what she wanted in the end, and died because of it.

Well to be fair, it was said by Stuart that they weren’t wealthy and they had a “simple” son, so it may not be a reach to think they were both drug addicts/alcoholics/or genuinely afraid for their sons safety so they became complicit. If they were elderly with a young son I’d think they wouldn’t have much of a choice but to be complicit by force or legitimately be unaware through whatever means they had available. (For all we know they actually did farm work and that’s typically a 24/7 job)

I was confused by that aspect, she didn’t have signal on her phone, she’s more athletic than the mom on foot but she has no car. I wondered what I’d do and even being from America Id attempt to steal Janet’s car and drive it straight to the hospital to Davis. Maybe they’d rush police to the home, I mean based on Janet so quickly assuming Pia was going to out her for what she did, I’d think she’d still follow the steps she did and Pia wouldn’t HAVE to die, but it was like a nod to the factual aspect of tourists dying to natural accidents.

One thing that always really hit home how much Davis’ mom and dad not only enjoyed, felt confident about, but took pride in their torture films is they kept it out in the open under a thin veil of “moms favorite tv show”. They are displayed front and center in the den book shelf along with the mask of course. It takes a slightly too curious or too bored Davis or any house guest for that matter to select just the wrong tape and see it all.

Exit through the gift shop is a documentary/mockumentary about Banksy, another ‘artist’ Mr. Brainwash, graffiti and the art world , and an exploration of what is real or fake and criticism of manipulation by players in the art world. Which probably foreshadows/references how the episode plays out.

I think there’s something in Pia’s early comments, when she says her bf’s dead dad looked hot in uniform and then later that his mum got wet to Bergiac. Like maybe we’ve become a bit crude & insensitive as a society Also at the beginning her bf drove her the long way to admire the scenery but she fell asleep. Like we’re only interested in beautiful settings if there’s a horrific true crime hook at the centre of it.

Nice pickup on the Exit Through the Giftshop poster and the Black Museum episode connection. Exit Through the Giftshop is also a reference to a documentary about the graffiti artist Banksy. The twist being that it isn't really about Banksy and you get drawn into a whole different story. The title of that documentary is in reference to how museums funnel you through the giftshop to get to the exit.

It is a simple plot and had no sci fi elements. It’s just a straight up thriller. Watched first 2 episodes and it’s disappointing. The show has fallen off

Hi fun fact, colors do have meaning and there is a legit thing called color theory. Red does has more positive connotations than negative. Red is associated with more love, lust, passion than blood and death. Also, check out “The Designer’s Dictionary of Color” by Sean Adams. Have fun learning something

I also thought part of the brilliance of having Pia die by accident also sort of critiques the assumptions true crime shows would make. David didn’t know/probably couldn’t know (?) that his mother didn’t kill Pia. It makes sense that he and everyone else would assume incorrectly that his mother killed her, but as an outside observer, we’re shown it was just an accident and speculation about her death lacks validity.

i was really hoping this episode would touch on the true crime stuff, especially with what happened with dahmer i think it snapped me out of some things, with some personal stuff my fam went through too the show came off as distasteful. not tryna rag on people into true crime, like i get that criminal minds weekend binge cos tbh, that's sometimes what's up, but it's only time till people start commodifying, say, a school shooting they were in or their friend's suicide or some shit Edit: i also think that the comedic effect of pia dying in the stream is like a reference to davis' comment about tourists jus dying in the wilderness through making a wrong turn or somethin, cos in the story it turns out they were killed by the parents and iain, but in pia's case it was rlly jus the river slippin her up

I think it absolutely is a commentary on the true crime genre. I think that this was the point of the whole episode. My mind instantly went to Dahmer.

Enjoyable video! I'm surprised that during the red vs blue sightings you didn't mention the mother's hair, lips and nails. Perhaps not so important, but when I saw the younger version of mother with red hair, it shocked me.

I watch true crime and watching this episode.. I just felt everything they were saying. There are times where you feel the victims are lost and it just goes into the 'meaty' details. As you said, Ted Bundy was a prime example, as well as Jeffrey Dahmer. Two horrific people that somehow have fans. So when they showed that end scene with all the masks... It's not that far from reality. You do have 'fangirls" and you have people who love doing dark tourism. Just like Stuart said, they absolutely could do a tour of the dungeon house. But what was the cost? They're talking in front of Davis who is still grappling with, not only his girlfriend's death, but the fact that his father was not the upstanding man he thought. That his kind, quiet mother was a monster... And people look at him like a celebrity. I've seen that happen in true crime! Many victims' families either become celebs or somehow they are attacked by a public that only sees what's online or on TV. Yet again Charlie Brooker knocks it out of the park with an artistic telling of the world around us. Every time this show just stops me and has me going through a deeper thought process than I was expecting from a show.

Just a request, since I do plan on watching your videos about the rest of series 6: Please don't add the loud clicky noises when images pop up! I absolutely hate it! Thanks! Also Better Help is kind of a sketchy business, but I'm sure you probably have heard that before, so you can disregard this if you're sick of people telling you about it.

How did this script get approved for a Black Mirror episode? There's no association with technology in any peculiar way like all the other Black Mirror episodes. Also it was extremely predictable. Black Mirror is great but this episode doesn't fit in this series.

i haven’t watched this video yet but what i didn’t like about this episode was how they didn’t explain why davis’ parents did this. it just doesn’t feel realistic and not telling us their motive or what led them to that point feels like leaving a blank page. you could make a plot twist by having anyone be the killers, what we need is it to actually make sense for them to be killers
@pegacorn13
@pegacorn13 Жыл бұрын
They were twisted sociopaths who got off on it. I think that's all you really need to know. In the end, the episode was about how their actions affected others versus focusing on the murderers backstory and motivations. I thought it was very intentional because most of the real world biopics focus primarily on the criminals and their stories versus the damage and trauma they have inflicted onto others.

I think it’s evident in the fact it was their fetish/kink, sexually motivated. That with them all gone you don’t get an explanation but with most murderers you don’t

Like others have replied to say, I also believe we know their motives. They just enjoyed killing and torturing people. That's it, they were sick. For the dad, since he was a police officer, it might even be some control/power play. But hard to say since he's dead. We do however get to see the mom, and she seems rather pleased with her actions, according to the ending of the episode. Also, most real life serial killers don't have any bigger motives. They are just deranged, and either enjoy killing, or doesn't understand that what they are doing is wrong. I don't think that the episode lacked any sort of motivation or explanation for the killings.
